I was chatting on my WhatsApp group.said I needed a push to go do housework.
Friend posted Footloose video...dammmm they know me so well. Was up and in the kitchen in a flash! Had a dance, done dishes, done bathroom all while playing the song on repeat (and dancing and oggling Kevin😍😍😍)
Need a sit down now before i get hoover out😁😁

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 31/05/2026 14:28

Afternoon everyone 😊
Aww bless your poor DS2 @Thebookofcarolagain 💐! At least there was a genuine reason and hopefully going in later today means it'll be a much quieter and easier shift for him. 😊
Your plants are certainly getting the VIP treatment! 😂
Quite right too let the rain do the watering for a change 😁
Whoo hoo for the Foxgloves! What a relief that the last lot have finally decided to join the party 🤣.
Mum was in a very decent mood today thank God 🙏. You never quite know what version you're going to get with her sometimes but she was a darling! Your WhatsApp group clearly knows exactly how to motivate you! Footloose is a much better form of encouragement than a nagging to do list. I can just picture you flying into the kitchen, dancing round with Kevin on repeat, getting jobs done while having a good ogle at him at the same time! 😍. I have always liked Kevin he's just got it
Home now just had macaroni cheese and it was lovely 😋
Nice cuppa now 😁

Yep @DirtyGertiefromno30 Kevin is lovely and a really nice guy irl.
Weather is changing like the wind, sunny, cloudy, windy, hot, cold its crazy.
Have put washing away and put my tiny seedlings in kitchen in water bath to hopefully soak up some water. Done nothing else! Think I will watch Tremors 😉
Glad your mum was in fine fettle today.
Think I am just gonna make omelette for tea for me and ds1. Ds2 has had the pie, not the tatties and sweetcorn, just the pie😡😄

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 31/05/2026 15:33

The weather is bonkers here too @Thebookofcarolagain , sunny one minute and cloudy and threatening rain the next 🙄 pita territory.
Tremors sounds like a perfect afternoon choice 😉. We are going to watch Shrek 2 , the girls are having a retro afternoons viewing 😁
An omelette sounds lovely for tea. And DS2 eating the pie but not the tatties or sweetcorn is so typical! 😆

Thebookofcarolagain · 31/05/2026 18:05

Had my tea while listening to....Skyrim stories😁
Dishes done off for a quick shower then Tremors 😍
Enjoy Shrek @DirtyGertiefromno30

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 31/05/2026 18:11

Just having some cheese and onion rolls and a cuppa tea now yummy 😋
Loved Shrek thank you @Thebookofcarolagain😁
Watching Soccer Aid now .
Hope you liked your omelette and enjoy Tremors 😁

That was a good romp. 😁 Love Burt Gummer @DirtyGertiefromno30
Just found a film based on the Dean Koonz book Watchers. It had better be good as its a brilliant book.

Thebookofcarolagain · 01/06/2026 00:24

Oh hell no!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/06/2026 09:27

Good morning everyone 😁
Raining here as per 🙄
l don't think we will ever be happy as a country with this damn weather , it's either too hot ,too cold, too wet, too dry, too windy and so inconsistent!
Hey ho the merrio 😊
Sounds as if you will love that film @Thebookofcarolagain 👏😁.
Staying home today life admin 😱

Stopped the film anout 30 minutes in @DirtyGertiefromno30 . I kept trying to persuade myself it would get better... They took a fantastic book and turned it into a teen romance based film with horror thrown in. Not the same as the book at all. Made in 1988, so nit expecting murackes but....
Cory Haim as lead (his hair as a close second!) him and his 'mum' had terrible lines, trying way too hard. Just cringe. The abomination that was created, and is truly scary in the book, you only got glimpses of parts of it, was like a guy in a mutated gorilla suit with long claws . I read reviews online. You don't see it till the end as its so bad🤣🤣 so many terrible reviews. Maybe to teens in the 80s it would have been good 😁 Might read the book again. Real characters, real human dilemmas, emotions, real scenarios, real science, real snapshots of horror mounting till the end.
Wet and miserable here too. If its not raining properly its just drizzle drizzle drizzle.
Doing nothing much today at all.
Hope life admin goes well.

bookbook · 01/06/2026 15:08

Hello!
well, I think this may be the first time back on MN for a while , just not getting around to even reading .
I have been faffing around all week , and not sleeping too well with the heat ( thank goodness it has cooled down at last! ) .
DH is off to pick up the DT's from school , and I have 10 minutes to myself .
My veg patch is done , cage up , and all planted up - DH and I finished it yesterday , was hoping it was going to rain today , but no such luck .
I have been catching up on a lot of bits of housework which had been neglected for a while , so all my skirtingboards , window frames have all been cleaned properly . Dusted well too , not a lick and a promise . Deep cleaned the shower room etc .
The time seems to fly by , and on an evening trying to get ahead of deadlines for WH projects too .
Meatballs !! - dont eat them often , but tbh , usually buy them ready made from the butchers , but I do keep a packet Swedish frozen pre cooked ones in the freezer as emergency rations , and use a home made pasta sauce with them .You can just pop them in the microwave 😁
I must admit I was lazy yesterday , and bought a ready cooked chicken from the supermarket , that with fresh bread and salad was tea . Loads of chicken left ( even though it was only little ) to make into a curry or similar later .
I better move and get the house sorted before the twins get here - they love my knitting basket .....
Waves to everyone
Take care all

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/06/2026 15:21

Afternoon everyone 😊
Oh no, that sounds like such a disappointment @Thebookofcarolagain! If you're only 30 minutes in and already trying to persuade yourself it'll get better, that's never a good sign.
The monster reveal sounds hilarious after all the build up in the book. A bloke in a mutated gorilla suit is not quite the terrifying horror they were aiming for 😂 . And Cory Haim's hair getting second billing made me laugh.
It's such a shame when a film doesn't live up to the brilliant book it's based on.
The weather here is much the same, damp, grey and endless drizzle 🙄.
I'm taking the life admin one thing at a time, sorted out an appointment with gastroenterology dept. Sorted out our pitiful Isas so l know what to do with them when they go to term next month. Enjoy your lazy day, and if you do reread the book, at least you know it'll be far better than the film! 😊
I did clean the bathroom, did a load of washing and put it away ,cleaned the 2 fridge freezers out, hoovered downstairs and went to Waitrose for cheese and then food from Aldi's .
I have just had some tea and toast and am going to have some cauliflower cheese for tea 😋.
Cuppa time now ☕

Crikey you have been on a mad spree @bookbook . I am tired just reading it all! Your veggies will be going great guns before you know it. I am jealous😁.
A ready cooked chicken isn't being lazy its saving your prep and oven time! 😉

Just made ds2 his tea before he goes to work. Made hunters chicken without the sause, he isnt keen on it that way, with waffles and onion rings, his faves. Too early for me. I have all my ingredients out to make some biscuits, just waiting on the butter defrosting! I didn't have enough in fridge 🙄
Its dried up here a bit even a bit sunny for a little while but its clouded over again and got quite cold.
Hope DTs dont make too much mess 😄

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/06/2026 15:29

You've certainly been keeping busy @bookbook! That is as per usual for you though l know ! No wonder you've not had much time for MN. Well done getting the veg patch finished, especially with all the other jobs you've been tackling. Hope you get some rain soon so you can put your feet up instead of watering.
I'm glad it's cooled down a bit. A few nights of poor sleep in that heat can really leave you feeling worn out.
Your tea sounds lovely. Nothing wrong with a ready cooked chicken at all, needs must sweethart , especially when it gives you another meal later in the week. I'm all for making life easier when there's so much to do.
Enjoy the twins when they arrive you are truly blessed with your 3 darling GC ❤️❤️❤️

You have been busy too @DirtyGertiefromno30 , crikey I have done precious little today😁
Thankfully I don't need any shopping this week maybe bread and milk by the weekend. I am staying away from shops till absolutely necessary cos of all the extras I have had to pay for in last month. 😡

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/06/2026 15:40

That tea sounds right up your Dh2 street @Thebookofcarolagain. You know what he likes, and Hunters chicken with waffles and onion rings is a lovely treat before work 😋, hope he is feeling so much better today.
🤞 butter defrosts soon so you can get those biscuits made. Typical when you're all ready to start and one ingredient holds you up!
The weather is so yucky ATM 🙄

I don't blame you staying.g from the shops @Thebookofcarolagain it's so expensive 😱. I swear it is going up week in week out .

Phew!

Biscuits are made @DirtyGertiefromno30 That biscuit dough was very soft. It said put in fridge for half an hour so I did but by the time I had cut half of it out it was soft again and sticking like crazy. So I rolled it up again and bunged it in the freezer for 10 minutes which helped. Gonna add more flour next time.
Mine and ds1s chicken is in oven. I am having ieft over mash, doing waffles for him. Now sick of washing dishes and there's more to do!😁
Thanks ds2 is feeling a lot better, not 100% yet but better. His mate phoned and said he had more clothes! His mum keeps buying them for him when he isnt home! He got some nice tops, in actual colours! 😁😁 He is off out after work to watch his mate play darts and will be buying the clothes guys few pints🤣
Listening to Skyrim stories in kitchen. I think your Dd would like them. Some are so thought-provoking and some fiesty and some make you cry!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/06/2026 18:59

Biscuits can be so tricky when the dough goes soft like that @Thebookofcarolagain, you did well rescuing it in the freezer.
Chicken in the oven, mash for you and waffles for him sounds like a yymmy tea 😋. Grr the washing up is piling up again though 🙄. That bit is never ending and it’s tiring when you’ve already done so much 😞
Really glad Ds2 is feeling a bit better, even if he’s not quite 100% yet. And the clothes situation made me smile too, sounds like his mate’s Mum spoils her Ds , at least your Ds2 has ended up with some nice colourful bits 🤗
Skyrim stories in the kitchen actually sound lovely, a good mix to keep you company while you’re getting on with everything , l will tell Dd1 about them definitely thank you for reminding me. l put you tube songs of the 70's on to get through the blinking cleaning of the fridge freezers 🤣
Just had tea lovely cauliflower cheese 😋 ,going to have a nice cuppa now 😁

Thebookofcarolagain · 01/06/2026 19:45

Oh that's a good idea @DirtyGertiefromno30 the 70s were awesome for a whole range of music.
Had a coffee and 2 biscuits, they are very rich, chocolatey.
In my pjs now, dishes all washed, done for the day. 😁
Sky still full of dark clouds with sun trying to peek through. At least its not blazing in my window tonight!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/06/2026 20:25

Oh biccies sound gorgeous @Thebookofcarolagain 😋.
Sky dark and miserable here too 🙄
Yes brill music in the 70's used to love going to discos 🤗❤️

Oh heck yes those were the days @DirtyGertiefromno30 😁
I remember from 79 onwards dancing the night away. Walking from taxi to my house in bare feet cos my stilettos hurt so much😁
Every kind of music in 70s and 80s you could want.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/06/2026 22:27

They were the days @Thebookofcarolagain 🤗 good clean fun , danced all night had a great time 😄👏👏. 'Dancing the night away'
That's a line from a Bobby Blue song l remember called Dancing on a Saturday night . Must go and find it 😁!
