Chatty thread for ND mumsnetters

I thought I'd try and start a friendly chatty thread here on the ND board. All are welcome. Bring a cuppa.

I'm whiskeyaramadillo. I'm late 40s and AuDHD. I have a ND parent and two ND children - my third DC is NT ish. I work full time and live on the western edge of London but my heart is firmly in the countryside which is where I grew up. I have one black and white cat who is my sunshine although he is in my bad books today after bringing in a mouse.

Today (Sunday) I'm sorting out my very very messy house - again. Making sure homework is done and uniforms are clean. Putting endless pants and socks in drawers. If I'm lucky I'll get to lie on the sofa and continue reading 'Wintering' by Katherine May or watch a bit of a crappy fantasy movie with a giant mug of tea.

What is everyone up to today?

How are you @JewelleryCat

Have a bit of a headache today, don’t know if it’s a bad headache or a migraine and I’m just tired a lot, mostly health issues but personal issues too

Newyearsparkle · 23/01/2026 14:34

Sorry to hear that ,do you have a lot to cope with

Newyearsparkle · 23/01/2026 14:40

I'm a bit stressed today
Last year I was on top of my housework wth planners
This year I've fallen of the wagon
I'm overwhelmed and can't think straight where to start
Luckily I'm on top of the bathrooms and that's about it
So Monday and Tuesday are bathrooms
But then I fall of the wagon,so nothing else is getting done
I. So frustrated with myself.because I know how uch it effects my mental health when I don't live in a clean environment
Like even if it doesn't look dirty ,if I know I haven't cleaned this week, then it is dirty and I can't relax .
The amount of diaries and planners I go through trying to get organised, the as soon as I fail ,it gets ripped up and put in the in ,and the cycle starts again ,with searching on line for an acceptable planner ,which an take days ,where I get behind even more
This absolutely can't be normal.
Plus I have some real actual issues in my life ,that could be taking priority..but no ..my brain is currently obsessed with a new planner that will solve all my problems

Hi ND mumsnetters - hoping to resurrect the chatty thread here

JewelleryCat · 02/04/2026 14:53

Hello @InertBird 🙂

How are you and any Easter plans?

Newyearsparkle · 02/04/2026 16:40

Hello ,I forgot about this thread e nice to chat a bit

InertBird · 02/04/2026 19:01

Hello @JewelleryCat and @Newyearsparkle Smile

JewelleryCat · 02/04/2026 19:27

I also forgot about this thread, would be nice to get it more active 🙂

Cherrypi · 02/04/2026 19:43

How is everyone? Easter is such a funny holiday. There's no rules.

JewelleryCat · 02/04/2026 20:13

I’m ok @Cherrypi how are you and do you have any Easter plans?

Cherrypi · 02/04/2026 20:41

I'm good thanks. Not particularly. I'm mostly looking forward to taskmaster on Thursday. You?

I don’t have any Easter plans, I always think it’s a bit silly. All the rushing about for 3 days or so and I’m guessing the supermarkets will be rammed because people think “oh my gosh, they’re closed for one day. I must get everything”

InertBird · 03/04/2026 00:01

I find Easter weird as well, I'm not religious and I don't like crowded shops and the general pressure to have get-togethers and be celebratory (I'm not really as miserable a sod as that makes me sound, honest).

Newyearsparkle · 03/04/2026 02:16

I've got my ADHD asessment on Tuesday..so I'm a bag of nerves..they told me when I got diagnosed with autism,I met the criteria for ADHD,but that I needed to go through NHS for actual diagnosis..I've been waiting over 3 years .. pinning all my hopes on ADHD medication sorting me out ..
And now it's nearly here it feels overwhelming

Cherrypi · 03/04/2026 08:44

Good luck @NewyearsparkleThree years waiting puts a lot of pressure on you.

JewelleryCat · 03/04/2026 09:53

Good luck @Newyearsparkle

@InertBird that doesn’t make you sound miserable just because you hate crowds (so do I) and I’m also not religious

What I really don’t like is when they move stuff and take things off the tv schedule just because it’s a holiday like Easter or Christmas

InertBird · 03/04/2026 10:18

@Newyearsparkle that's a hell of a long wait! Wishing you all the best for Tuesday Flowers

@JewelleryCat totally get it about the changes to the tv schedule as well!

JewelleryCat · 03/04/2026 10:38

@InertBird it isn’t enough they change it for sport but for Easter and Christmas too!

stickygotstuck · 04/04/2026 12:43

Hello everyone.

I'm the opposite. Easter is my favourite holiday by far. Several bank holidays without freezing temperatures, without the pressure to celebrate, give or receive gifts, and without the same bloody songs blasting out of speakers in every single shop. Plus it's the perfect excuse to listen to Jesus Christ Superstar in the car! What's not to like? 😁

@Newyearsparkle , good luck with the assessment.

Cherrypi · 04/04/2026 13:19

That is a convincing argument @stickygotstuckPancake day is my favourite as it's simple and the rules are clear. Though I did ruin this year by accidentally booking an early evening smear test that day.

InertBird · 04/04/2026 15:45

I agree with all of those points comparing Easter favourably to Christmas, but that just makes Easter slightly less bad than Christmas rather than positively enjoyable! Confused

God, I sound like a miserable git. I absolutely love spring, just without crowds if at all possible!

Newyearsparkle · 04/04/2026 15:47

Thanks for the good wishes I will let you know how I get on
