Good morning. Come and chat. Somewhere to escape to if the rest of life is too overwhelming..or just to relax.

To update, my husband got me a £2 LFT and it came up positive straight away, so he's now keeping his distance from me. Fortunately we don't share a bedroom and he does the cooking, not me, so hoping he can avoid it.

EmmaH2022 · 09/04/2022 15:07

Board how are you feeling? Hopefully the good sleep helped.

I am trying to get through a mountain of paperwork re the flat buying. I'm too tired after looking after mum to get excited! But that's just as well. It's not done till you have a key in your hand and it works in the door, lol.

I'm back to mum's tomorrow and still knackered. Hoping to just do two days and then sis is off work till after Easter.

BoardLikeAMirror · 09/04/2022 16:17

Not too bad at the moment, thank you Emma. My muscle aches are much better than yesterday, it's mainly my sinuses, streaming nose and coughing troubling me today; also no appetite which is rare for me!

ofwarren · 09/04/2022 17:02

Sorry, I don't come on this post often because I find it hard with lots of different conversations at once but I just saw that @boardlikeamirror has covid and I wanted to say get well soon Flowers

BoardLikeAMirror · 09/04/2022 17:14

Oh, thank you, @ofwarren . Fingers crossed I am not too bad at the moment!

ofwarren · 11/04/2022 11:32

I'm doing the dreaded wait for a phone call today. I started with UTI symptoms yesterday and got a private prescription for nitrofurantoin but today it's definitely turned into a kidney infection so I need different antibiotics from the GP. My back is aching and burning and I feel shaky and sick.
They are going to ring between 3 and 4 apparently. Its a man who's ringing and I know he has a very strong accent so I'm not looking forward to the conversation at all.

ofwarren · 11/04/2022 11:44

And we've also got someone coming to replace a radiator at some unknown time between 12 and 5 😭

BoardLikeAMirror · 11/04/2022 12:32

Oh, no, sorry you are feeling so poorly @ofwarren .

I hope the call goes OK. The doctor will know you're not well and it's not unusual to have to ask them to repeat things when you are struggling, even if it's someone without an accent, so don't feel bad if you have to ask more than once.

Crossing fingers for you that your new radiator turns up sooner rather than later so you can get that bit over with.

ofwarren · 11/04/2022 13:41

The nurse rang instead. I've never been so relieved. Been given a week of coamoxiclav. I'm hoping it kicks in soon as my back is just throbbing.

EmmaH2022 · 11/04/2022 17:48

ofwarren so sorry to hear this. Wish you better ASAP.

How’s everyone? Board, hope you’re on the mend.

Took mum to hospital appointment today. We got a cancellation hence the speed. They don’t seem to have kept any records further than 5 years? So all the heart problems she had for more than 15 years, they seem to be completely shocked about. It was ridiculous. Now trying to source copies from GP. Honestly, they know if you had an alcoholic drink in 1998 but this, they don’t keep records for!

BoardLikeAMirror · 11/04/2022 17:58

I'm feeling a lot better today, thank you - I think my immune system has 'got on top of it' - hopefully the jabs doing their stuff.

I hope your meds kick in soon, ofwarren. Did your radiator arrive?

I can't believe they don't have your mum's records for longer ago than that, Emma. Would it be worth requesting a copy yourselves - I think you can get them by doing a subject access request, if your mum was willing.

EmmaH2022 · 11/04/2022 20:22

Board Tbh given the vortex of crazy the NHS is, I wouldn’t be surprised if they just can’t face looking for it. I’ll call her GP tomorrow

Glad you are feeling better.

LilyRed · 11/04/2022 23:56

Well, we had the lurgy like covid where you cannot breathe, and now DP has kindly shared one of the other viruses (virii?) that are most definitely available, so that's two in a month nearly!

Urgh, so much snot!😫🤧😰 back to bed I think...

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 12/04/2022 08:49

@ofwarren I hope the antibiotics can help, kidney infections are awful. You must be run down, I hope you can get rest and vitamins🌻

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 12/04/2022 08:52

@LilyRed I hope you feel better soon too 🌻

Everybody's poorly 😭

Mine is self inflicted. I'm not handling the next Saxenda dose and I've been exhausted and wiped out for three days now. All I want to do is sleep 😴 will reduce dose now.

LilyRed · 12/04/2022 10:42

@ofwarren - that is why you have been feeling so run down (besides the covid!) I do hope the antibiotics work quickly 💐

When I last had a kidney infection my pee smelled like cat pee 🙀

I am still snotiferous and headachey 🤧 I would like to go back to bed, but am listening to woman's hour on the radio whilst I wait for MIL to deign to appear as she needs some supervision to make breakfast.

@BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation, stop jabbing yourself with that pen thing or you will end up like a wee waffy twig! 🌱

EmmaH2022 · 12/04/2022 18:00

Sorry to hear so many are ill, hope it goes soon
Barrow it's hard, I didn't even manage to lose weight on that. I thought I'd never try losing weight again as I feel I have tried so many times, but maybe I will try again.

Does being ND make it harder to go along with bullshit? Just wondering generally. I feel like people increasingly don't say what they mean. I'm not sure if people's communication patterns have changed or if it's just that so much internet speak has come into daily language.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 12/04/2022 18:35

Wee waffy twig 😆😆😆

I can only dream of being such a thing 😄

BoardLikeAMirror · 12/04/2022 18:36

Hoping everyone is feeling better or at least feeling no worse today. Not long now till the Bank Holidays - looking forward to four days of being able to go to bed and get up when I want.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 12/04/2022 18:38

I don't talk to other people nowadays, but this has been a problem in the past, yes. They can't deal with the truth either. And they like to pretend things aren't happening/going to happen. They literally can't cope with reality.

LilyRed · 12/04/2022 20:29

Yes probably, I have the misfortune of being usually able to smell it, see it and call it out; you do not gain friends that way, but who wants a liar for a friend?

Dealing with dementia is especially difficult as the sufferer often fabricates copiously to deal with lost memory (MIL) and in this case unless it is dangerous or hurtful then one has to ignore it.

I love fritillaries! Tried planting in mum's garden and only got one!!!
I tend to say Ostara but a lot of people don't know what that means.

Re the bullshit, I had major issues in my early career because some people don't seem to say what they mean. Even now, I find people say "can you do x" but they mean something else.

In terms of real life, I am very tactful, but at work if you want y done, just say so!

Speaking of work, I just left and there's an early shift guy sitting in reception looking completely stoned. I wonder if he's just in the area and stopped by.

There's a weird sense about everything at the mo. Or is it me? He's quite young, moved to London for the job, I think he might be lonely. There's a few staff down there chatting but I don't generally socialise with colleagues anymore so I left before anyone suggested the pub. I like clear boundaries.

Dementia - that scares me. I don't correct mum about anything unless I have to. She is pretty with it but increasingly struggling to cope with banking, paperwork. I imagine I'll be taking that over soon.

EmmaH2022 · 12/04/2022 21:32

Speaking of not talking to people....I managed to get my cousin on low contact, otherwise she'd be texting all day and we have nothing in common. And she annoys me. Now after mum's incident, she's texting daily again. I feel like a cow, but she's full on.

boddtm · 12/04/2022 21:34

Can I join you all? Got a psych appointment day after tomorrow and a bit on edge. Not sure why as I actually this this one.
Am off to MIL with the kids tomorrow and just found out more people will be there... too late to stay home?
