Good morning. Come and chat. Somewhere to escape to if the rest of life is too overwhelming..or just to relax.

Lovely pusscat photos!

@EmmaH2022 - Oh how I hated exchanges; they always take much longer than one thinks. I think the worst we had was three months in one instance, but six weeks is more common! Can you contact your vendor's estate agent and chivvy them on? Or your solicitor? DP always thinks the solicitors string out the length of exchanges so they get paid more, but he is a bit of a cynical old git.

I took some photos so let me know if any of them are of use - I actually took loads! I might get some more this morning (Monday) when the flowers will have opened up and are a bit more blowsy

@crackofdoom

Hello! Had a kids' birthday party this afternoon...in a swimming pool, with a bunch of parents I don't have much in common with. Sitting in bed on my phone feeling too drained to move right now....can't think why 😆

Does anyone remember that episode of Motherland where Julia thinks she can dump the kids at a pool party and run, but she has to stay, and oh....the horror. It was like that.

But the worst bit was afterwards, when we were ushered into a room full of gym equipment for food, and all the gently parented, "spirited" little moppets started running around screeching and waving 6kg dumbbells, while their parents looked on indulgently....🤦‍♀️

@crackofdoom that brings back horrific memories. Chuckling away here. This too will pass 🤣🤣

Ooo, those tulips are pretty. I do love flowers.

House buying/selling is stressful and laborious. I hope things progress quickly Emma

I've been cooking vegetables in the newly acquired air fryer. It is miraculous and incredible and I am full of vegetables now 😋

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 04/04/2022 16:40

I've just read Emma's thread in aibu about her mum's had a suspected heart attack and she's not being allowed to see her in the hospital. I hope they're both okay 😥

EmmaH2022 · 05/04/2022 02:37

Hello everyone. How's things? You might have seen that mum was discharged and I don't think she had a heart attack.

Thanks so much to posters from here who were supportive.

I'm now wide awake but mum is fast asleep which is good.

I will be with mum for two days, then my sister will take over for two days. By the end of the week, I expect mum will want some peace!

Hope everyone is okay? Barrow I have an air fryer too. I love it!

LilyRed those are beautiful, thank you so much for taking those, and posting them.

LilyRed · 05/04/2022 13:52

@EmmaH2022, I'm sorry, you really are going through the wars and my heart goes out to you.

I have heart disease, and I'm not sure an awful lot of consultants understand the disease so well in women, even now. One actually accused me of drug seeking Angry - the registrar came round later and apologised as he'd had all sorts of problems with this consultant changing his diagnoses (the registrar IMHO was better and more understanding - and experienced!) I am so glad to hear your mum is out. Does she have carers coming in to support her so she can get adequate rest and support - besides you and your sister that is! Caring is bloody hard work and you will need a break too.

EmmaH2022 · 05/04/2022 14:41

Thank you Lily
It's just me and sis. If we can't cope or if mum needs proper carers, we will sort something out but hopefully that won't happen.

Sorry to hear about your experience. There are power trippers in every line of work for sure.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 05/04/2022 21:08

Glad your mum is okay Emma .

Hope everyone else is doing okay.

LilyRed · 05/04/2022 23:03

Barrow, I usually make roasted veggies once a week, I never thought of doing it in the airfryer --ooooh shall be trying that 👩‍🍳👌

(guess who discovered emojis on the laptop!)

LilyRed · 05/04/2022 23:05

erm, guess who discovered that windows emojis don't come out the same on Mumsnet?

ofwarren · 05/04/2022 23:09

I can see them on my phone lily
The chef and the kiss fingers?

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 05/04/2022 23:13

Lily I've been having them every day 😄 it's dead easy. Just spray with oil and cook for about 10 mins on 180 then a blast at the end if you want them browned. I do: courgette, aubergine, shallots, carrot, pepper, broccoli, tomato etc.

I'm going to try making keto muffins tomorrow 😋

LilyRed · 06/04/2022 00:34

Ofwarren that's odd! It's ok now but when I posted it was a woman's head, a frying pan with an egg in it and a fingerkiss/ok sign?

Barrow that sounds like mine, but with squash and peppers instead of broccoli and carrot - I add lots of herbs, paprika and fennel seed and pop in some peeled garlic cloves and baby tomatoes at the halfway mark. I didn't dare put emojis for most of the recipe as it looked rather rude! 😲

I am starting to eat more veggy food and have cut back on the meat, but the meat-eaters here demand their pound of flesh so I will make it on Thursday as I have meat marinating for a Chinese dish tomorrow; I fancy a dhal curry myself tbh with chickpeas this time, love them but nobody else eats them except the children (sounds so odd saying now that as they are all so very grown up now)

What are keto muffins?

Monty27 · 06/04/2022 00:47

Apparently you spray everything with oil Sorted
LilyRed · 07/04/2022 00:12

@Monty27 🤣🤣🤣

EmmaH2022 · 08/04/2022 17:34

How's everyone?
I'm back at home now.

I was looking at sandals online. Don't know why as sandals literally shred my feet. I wonder if eczema etc is more common among ND people.

BoardLikeAMirror · 08/04/2022 19:29

I now seem to have either the dreaded Rona or a very nasty lookalike, along with everyone else, it seems. Languishing on the sofa with a large book but struggling to get comfy because all my muscles ache so my normal positions aren't working. I've had it before so hoping this round won't be as bad.

Oh no. Hope you feel better asap. Flowers
EmmaH2022 · 08/04/2022 20:32

PS i also call it the Rona but it seems to annoy others!

Em, good get some rest before the next tranche!

We had a discussion when this section first started, and it seems that an awful lot of us have an auto-immune condition, I get eczema & psoriasis, and when it really hates me, it turns into cellulitis - aargh! 😫 Are you allergic to leather by any chance? I am and have to be really careful about shoes.

EmmaH2022 · 08/04/2022 23:40

Lily hmm, don't know
I never wear shoes without socks really, but that's any kind of shoe.

Slippers are okay.

Featuredcreature · 08/04/2022 23:48

I guess there is a really virulent thing doing the rounds, I came down with it after a friend visited, he started feeling ill the morning after he got home. Thankfully I feel OK apart from the fact I'm guessing a cold sore popped up on my lip in literally minutes today, it's on my bottom lip where I don't usually get them, odd. I felt achy/joint pain and wiped out for 2 days, hot and cold and clammy, this is the first time I have been ill since Jan 2020.

Featuredcreature · 09/04/2022 00:14

I find it annoying that every single illness and symptom now is attributed to the 'rona. Fml other viruses are available, it's so illogical.

I always say "other viruses are available" which seems to annoy people as well! 😂

Since the time change, I can't sleep before 2am at the earliest. It's annoying.

BoardLikeAMirror · 09/04/2022 10:47

I should think that's going to happen more and more, Featuredcreature now you can't get a test in England without paying for it. It's of no practical importance what mine is, as I feel too rubbish to think about leaving the house, and wouldn't want to pass it on to others whatever it might be. However, I got a decent night's sleep last night which I feel a bit better for, so hoping it's turning a corner.

Hope everyone else is doing well and having a good weekend.
