Muslim Mumsnetters

This board exists primarily for the use of Muslim Mumsnetters. Others are welcome to post but please be respectful.

Gaza. Another example of how Muslims are seen as vermin, to be eradicated.

Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Gaza. whole cities, towns, villages, communities razed to the ground. The number of deaths are staggering. Mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, children, dead, destroyed.

Apparently "we" asked for it so it's justified. We are rats. We are terrorists, we are backward, we are rubbish, better off dead.

I don't know why I'm posting this really.

Just. So. Tired. Of. It.

I'd say I'm surprised it's not been deleted, but that wouldn't be accurate. I'm not surprised at all.

I have reported it, they said they are looking into the post.

I’m very tempted to engage simply to challenge their ignorance. As you say - perhaps if they start their own thread.

If MN kept this board hidden from active, then we may just be able to avoid the fanatics…but then taking preemptive steps to avoid anti-Islam posts would make MN a boring place.

I've requested for it to but I'm being ignored. Maybe if someone else could we might be heard? :)

anotherlevel · 31/05/2024 22:26

Thanks @eomeoni

changefromhr · 31/05/2024 22:28

I'm not sure about hiding it to be honest. If it was hidden I wouldn't have known about it.

I've reported it, unbelievable

SilverCatStripes · 31/05/2024 22:45

Why would it be deleted ?

Worldwide over the past 4 decades over 90% of victims killed in Islamist terrorist attacks were Muslim - do you not think this is worthy of discussion?

Not in a thread where people are seeking support for trauma and distress being experienced due to the deaths of our loved ones in Gaza.

If it's something you want to discuss, that's up to you, but please start your own thread for it.

Did you know the event where millions died, the perpetrators and the victims had something in common? I'll let you work out what I'm referring to : )

Please start your own thread. You are perfectly entitled to dislike Islam, but you can do so and start debate in a respectful manner.

This board was created as a safe space for Muslim MNers, and right now it is a source of comfort as our brothers and sisters are being slaughtered in Palestine, whilst we individually face an increase in Islamophobia at the same time. Many of us are increasingly feeling unwelcome in our home country (Britain) and fear for our future, and these threads allow us to find solace through the darkness. This is not the place for hate or criticism of our faith.

So please, respect the board you are on right now and start your own thread.

I have. I regularly name change but I try and keep the same name on this board so you know who I am.

Could this maybe be discussed in a separate thread please?

People are well aware of wars, murders, etc.

Some of us have people we care about dying in Gaza, and/or are facing abuse in this country which is exacerbated by the current Israel-Hamas conflict.

It would be nice to have a safer space in which to discuss our own feelings about this without it being derailed into a wider political/academic discussion which simply causes more distress for people seeking support.

The Muslim Mumsnetters board is intended to, like the Jewish Mumsnetters board, be a safer space for a demographic which can experience discrimination. Please respect that.

@HelplessSoul Please read my post. I’m not going to deny that the way Islam is manipulated by many isn’t problematic - only a blind fool would - and the civil war in Yemen is a different yet complex subject altogether. But this thread is not the place for such a discussion. You can start your own.

MN hasn’t deleted it.

At this point we know these posters are aggressors and antagonisers. Just ignore them, I have seen their post history.

In case you missed my last post, some of us actually have loved ones in Gaza. We would like a safe space to talk about that.

If you wanted a safe space to discuss any loved ones you were currently losing, surely you wouldn't want people coming in to that space and saying things like this to you.

I care about innocent lives being lost around the world. My friends and colleagues are being killed in Gaza. Discussing those two things is completely separate.

What part of start your own thread is incomprehensible?

HelplessSoul · 01/06/2024 12:36

"In case you missed my last post, some of us actually have loved ones in Gaza."

As do I, and also in the West Bank, Yemen, Lebanon and even Saudi too.

All lives that are under threat in those locations are equally prized.

Agreed. So, why not start a thread to discuss those rather than suggesting people don't care when they do. This thread was meant to be about Gaza, as is in the title. Why not start a thread to discuss Yemen or other places, and put that in the title?

anotherlevel · 01/06/2024 13:45

A small piece of good news, in amongst all the bleakness: one of my friends has made it safely home. We've all been so worried for all of our friends and colleagues there, and I know how relieved his family will be to have him safe at last. Alhamdulillah.
