Gaza. Another example of how Muslims are seen as vermin, to be eradicated.

Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Gaza. whole cities, towns, villages, communities razed to the ground. The number of deaths are staggering. Mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, children, dead, destroyed.

Apparently "we" asked for it so it's justified. We are rats. We are terrorists, we are backward, we are rubbish, better off dead.

I don't know why I'm posting this really.

Just. So. Tired. Of. It.

Lots of people have seen that picture of the women holding her neices body that went viral but not many have seen the little girl. I sobbed when i saw her she looked just like my neice. People often just see the dead as statistics and figures. But here was a little girl who had her whole life ahead of her. Her only crime was being Palestinian, born in Gaza.

May Allah(swt) ease the mother’s pain 🤲🏻

You do not have to be of any race, religion or creed to know that what is going on in Gaza is wrong, it is against humanity. The one that hit me recently amongst others is the baby that had to be delivered by emcs from her mother's womb as her mother had been killed along with her father, brother and sister by Israeli shelling. The poor baby then died nearly two weeks later. An entire family wiped out, may they all rest in peace 🥲

Sadly many have lost their humanity.

It's awful. I think many of us are walking around with aching hearts.

I’m really making dua 🤲🏻 for the people escaping Rafah today they look so broken. These 7 months have broken them down.

Lemonlettuce · 12/05/2024 09:15

I’m just about ready to give up with all the hatred shown towards Palestinians and Muslims in general. I can’t believe some of the posts I’ve read on MN trying to defend and justify this genocide.

I’ve always seen the UK as my home and never thought of Pakistan where my family originally comes from as my homeland. We ‘went to’ Pakistan for holidays but it was the UK that we were ‘coming back home’ to. I was a teenager when 9/11/ Iraq and Afghanistan wars/etc happened and maybe it was because I was young and that time was scary and tough but it didn’t seem as bad as this does now.

Before I used to think that most British people are understanding and tolerant of Muslims- these horrible views are on the fringe etc but honest to God the level of vitriol I’ve seen in the last couple of months and how mainstream this vitriol has become is really really upsetting to the point that I’m thinking ‘I’ve always seen the UK as my home but do the majority of the population see that for me too or am I kidding myself?

Scirocco · 12/05/2024 09:31

@Lemonlettuce it's a really unpleasant environment here, and I suspect worse in some other places. We've looked into options for moving abroad but not sure where to go. Plus all our family are here. And part of me feels like staying here just out of determination to not let racists and bigots push me out of my home.

Parkingt111 · 12/05/2024 10:46

I could have written that myself although I try not to let it get to me. My neighbours are friendly enough but when I see some of the blatant anti Muslim rhetoric on some threads I wonder if some of them secretly feel that way too.

eomeoni · 12/05/2024 11:07

I am really worried for my children and their future here. I worry about how best I can protect them.

When politicians and political parties are targeting Muslims and we are seen as a problem. We aren’t seen as equal citizens.

TakeMe2Insanity · 12/05/2024 11:44

@Lemonlettuce sadly I have to agree. The problem is that Pakistan doesn’t feel like home as next to no close family left there. Add on a mixed background marriage so again choices limited.

We've considered Canada, New Zealand, Pakistan, Qatar, Dubai, Turkiye... all options but all have pros and cons...

I am not Muslim or living in the UK but I worked in London from the early noughties until about 2010. I work in community and social inclusion so a lot of my work centred around disadvantaged areas of London working with different communities on integration. I am so shocked with how much things have deteriorated for Muslims since then. There was so much hope back then and that was at the time of 9/11 and the London bombings. I don't want to get political but close to 25 years of a tory government has contributed to this. They have no interest in bringing communities together. They have such a responsibility to sort this for the Muslim community but they have chosen to divide further. It is so depressing.
A lot of the programmes I worked on are gone, distrust and suspicion has been allowed fester and people fell emboldened to say and do whatever they like because their leaders do it too. I just hope things can be pulled back and cohesion can be supported and encouraged again.

I’ve often said the west was to blame.

giving the Jews a home land in Israel after ww2 was well meant but was only ever going to cause conflict. There was never going to be a happy ending.

this is entirely on the west

Try saying that on that on other threads!

None the less why should they have to have 70+ years of occupation and oppression?

Apologies I'm not Muslim but I just wanted to post this image of Masa on a wall in Dublin by artist Emmaline Blake . She first painted the image of the aunty holding the baby
This is the poem she wrote with it
Second Time Painting You

By Emmalene Blake

That cheeky smile. I sketch it now. One finger to your lips.

You look off to the side smiling at someone, something, that makes you feel happy, makes you feel safe.

I sketch your runners, white with a floral pattern. They match your light denim jeans, embroidered with delicate flowers. Your mother took the time to pick them out, match them up.

She carefully brushed your hair, pulled it into colorful bobbins. Put on your baby pink watch, so that you could see all the time you had. Or maybe to just hear the tick-tock of the seconds passing.

Two-year-olds don't worry about time.

I didn't know this about you when I painted you before. Didn't see it. Didn't see your smile. Didn't see the feather in your hair. Didn't see your flowery runners that match your flowery jeans. Didn't see the baby hairs all along your forehead that you had yet to grow out.

See, when I painted you before, you were wrapped in cloth, your auntie clutching your shrouded body, rocking back and forth.

Whispering words meant only for you.

It really hit home and I'm glad to be able to share it with you in this space because there are so many on Mumsnet right now who will ridicule or what about it.

What this has done is opened our eyes. Sadly millions are still living in denial. These are the same people who smile at you on your face, and will stab you when your backs are turned.

1000s being killed before our own eyes and not a single word from the so called champions of human rights. And then at the same time you have the Ukraine war, and the very same people can't stop crying. What is the difference? One side is blue eyes blonde hair, other isn't.

Anyone who still falls for their BS needs their head examined. They don't, never have, and never will care about us. Not even the children.

I came across this after a petition against it was posted in a local WhatsApp group.

https://www.newarab.com/news/palestinians-slam-london-event-fundraising-israeli-soldiers

Honestly, it felt like a slap in the face. By all means raise funds for the victims of the Nova Festival - they deserve any funding they can get to access any support they need and rebuild their lives. But to raise funds to buy equipment for soldiers to use when killing innocent Palestinians is a huge insult. Genuinely do not understand how people, especially women, can take such a stance.

Palestinians slam London event fundraising for Israeli soldiers

The ‘Dance for Nova’ event has been condemned for raising funds for Israeli soldiers amid the ongoing war on Gaza which has killed tens of thousands of people.

How are you all keeping?
I have hardly been going on the CITME board.
Some of the messages implying the Palestinians deserve it (pay back) is just too much for me
Trying to focus more on practical ways to help

jigglywigglyhungryhippo · 25/05/2024 20:04

I'm not Muslim so please take that into account. This is just My experience.

I lived in the Middle East for many years and never felt the 'division' between me and citizens. I didn't even realise there were issues until I moved away from the Middle East. Im
Christian and was always warmly welcomed by the Muslim community.

I genuinely think that a lot of fault lies with the media and the propaganda they are spewing.
People always fear things they do not know, and unfortunately are also very ignorant and only know what they know by popular media.

I think with the Palestine/Israel conflict- not justifying either side, atrocities committed by both- the history is too deep to unravel. I think it even goes back to medieval times? But the people murdered by both governments deserve better, the Palestinians deserve better. The Israelites deserve better- but the governments of both countries do not care.

Basically- I think you deserve better too and hopefully people begin to realise and form their own opinions based on experience rather than propaganda.

Scirocco · 25/05/2024 20:06

Thank you @jigglywigglyhungryhippo - you're right - we all deserve better.

Salaam, I'm doing ok, thanks. A couple of sisters I know are in the final stages of preparation for a trip to Egypt to help refugee families, and we've got a few fundraising events coming up for other charities too. With work and family too, it's pretty busy! How are you?

Parkingt111 · 25/05/2024 20:17

@jigglywigglyhungryhippo hello and thank you for sharing your experiences. I'm so glad you were welcomes warmth and had a good experience
I definitely agree that both deserve better
