Women and Heavy Metal

Having come across some v misogynistic attitudes across social media on heavy metal boards I thought I would start a thread were is women fans of all things hard and heavy could hang out, feel free to say hi.

Aware metal is very male dominated in terms of artists too. Apologies, I've not read the whole thread (though I will) does anyone have any female artists they can recommend that haven't been recommended above?

Alissa White Gluz, vocalist with Arch Enemy, is amazing. They had a female singer before her too, Angela Gossow, but I don't think she performs anymore.

Anneke van Giersbergen, formerly of a Dutch goth/ doomy band called The Gathering, has the most beautiful voice. Stil going but does mellower material now.

I saw A woman named Kim Jennett supporting Geoff Tate recently- she had a great voice and stage presence - would definitely see her again - link to her Facebook

There's Cassyette - she supported Bring Me earlier this year.

Alissa is indeed amazing, also worth listening to her previous band (The Agonist) where she uses her clean voice as well as growling. This is fab:

Tati Shmayluk of Jinjer has an incredible voice, (wait for it...)

Lizzy hale has been filling vocals in for skid row over the summer- seeing Halestorm next year.

She's excellent. Though I was gutted when skid row lost Erik Gronwall he was the best thing to ever happen to them

I absolutely agree with you. Going to gigs alone is definitely worth it.

We've seen Cassyette a couple of times, she's a good watch.

DH went to Sleep Token on Friday and is there again on Tuesday - he's a big fan! Said it was a great show.

We've got tickets to see Ghost next year too, they're excellent fun live.

I'm gutted today. Falling in Reverse have cancelled the UK part of the tour as Ronnie isn't allowed a visa. I was meant to be going Birmingham on Thursday.... really wanted to see Hollywood Undead as well!!!

It was assumed as it was 10 years after release he would get his visa, but it looks like 15. I'm gutted not to be seeing Hollywood Undead over FIR. It's crazy they've left it until the day before to say it's off!

I am a fan of Faling in reverse but its hard to believe Ronnie is the same age as me given how he behaves!

I loved Escape the Fate way back when too. He's always been an egotistical pillock. He just gets worse as he ages!

Is anyone else going to the Bullet for my valentine shows in the new year? We are having a trip down to London for it, although we have the nosebleed seats at the O2.

I've not heard of them but I'm in Manchester too. We hardly ever go to gigs up here though because our family are all down south (hence traveling to London for childcare).
