I just wanted to start a thread where fans can share their favourite things about George. Share video links, lyrics, rare footage. Tell us why you liked him. Have you met him? Share your memories. Anything really.

Please, no speculation about how he died here.

I bloody worshipped him from being about 12 years old. I remember liking Wham! music and hearing it at a youth club I went to, and then one day I saw his picture in my dad's Daily Star and it was LOVE! It was 1984.

I've just shared this clip on another thread, I think it's one of the sexiest performances I ever saw him do, I love the dance moves in this.

Yes, I know she fucked it up first time but with the glory of YouTube only hearing the second attempt ^ this is just beautiful. The strings are amazing. The video footage perfect. And once again I am in tears.

I loved the clips they played, a few rare bits in there which I've never seen before.

Good effort from Adele.

Kudos to her for persevering. She wanted to do it justice and honour George properly and you can tell she was nervous and trying to restrain herself from crying.

Love old Fat Slug, as it's always referred to in our house, and the video, one of my favourites and I think it was at this point I finally accepted he was gay- he was definitely outing himself with the video for it long before the LA toilet incident.

Adele did a wonderful job and when she said "I have to get it right for him" it sent me over the edge.

Brit Awards tonight.

I read earlier that his sisters will be in the audience tonight. Wonder who will do the tribute? Maybe Bruno Mars

LoveMySituation · 22/02/2017 19:55

Or perhaps notGrin

CeeBeeBee · 22/02/2017 22:26

Sorry, but I am disappointed with Chris Martin's "Different Corner" as it just sounds like a karaoke version and I expected more from as someone who likes Coldplay. At least Adele made "Fast Love" her own and personal as a gift.

Hewillalwaysbemyman · 22/02/2017 22:35

I thought he was terrible and an insult to George! I have never thought anyone was even close to having the talent he had and watching the rubbish on there tonight confirms it! I didn't like Adele either. Loved that Andrew, Pepsi and Shirlie paid tribute, I didn't expect that.

CeeBeeBee · 22/02/2017 22:37

Andrew, Pepsi and Shirlie were brilliant. I cried!

Hewillalwaysbemyman · 22/02/2017 22:44

Me too, I sobbed! Loved the photos and clips shown while Chris Martin sang, think they put that together really well. Would rather have just listened to George sing though.

BooMooLeonardo · 22/02/2017 23:28

Whilst it took guts to try, Chris Martin did not do that song justice. I really wish they had gone with Bruno Mars singing Outside personally. His tribute to Prince in the grammys was stunning.

Fresta · 23/02/2017 08:12

I loved Pepsi, Shirlie and Andrews tribute, they were so nervous, but so brave, so genuine and it was so emotional to see the love they had for him. He clearly was a very loved man.

A Different Corner was clearly not a song for made Chris Martin's voice, however this only served to emphasize the beauty and talent of George's voice and writing for me, and the overall effect of the VT was quite moving.

Heres the link if you missed it

Agree with the above. Chris's voice is just not good enough to do ADC justice. But it set me off, that song always does. For some reason, it had never crossed my mind that there could be a spoken tribute, so it was a real surprise with Andrew, Pepsi and Shirlie. Very emotional

Fresta · 23/02/2017 18:34

Good article about Wham and Andrews involvement here.

Ok thanks.

PolaDeVeboise · 23/02/2017 21:14

Last night, I was just grateful they hadn't asked Knobbie Williams to do the tribute. However, on reflection, Chris Martin just wasn't right. His voice is nowhere NEAR strong enough and that was painfully apparent at the 'duet' part. For the record, ADC is in my top 2 of George's songs (along with Father Figure).

Hewillalwaysbemyman · 23/02/2017 22:29

I was so glad it wasn't him too (love your name for him!). I can't think of anyone who could have done it well, other than George himself.

LoveMySituation · 24/02/2017 12:05

Elton maybe, if only for the history, but yeah, no one else can do what George did. He was in his own catagory

PolaDeVeboise · 24/02/2017 12:35

You are so right ladies and it just highlights what a unique talent he was. Elton would have been better from a relevance point of view, but his voice is no-where near strong nor soulful enough either. The only person I think who could do his songs any justice is Adam Lambert.

BooMooLeonardo · 24/02/2017 21:00

Rob Thomas (how far we've come/smooth) did a nice job of Father Figure.
