In your opinion of courseWink

We've had the weirdest (I'm a serious as cancer springs to mind) and the best first lines so what do you think is the best lyric/line/s ever?
Can be one you love for the cheese factor, something meaningful for you or something you think is just brilliant song writing.

Ill start with

She's a myth that I have to believe in. All I need to make it real is one more reason. I don't know what to do.
Slipknott-Vermillion pt 2.

Then take me disappearin? through the smoke rings of my mind

Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves

The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach

Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.

Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free

Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands

With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves

Let me forget about today until tomorrow.

The final verse of 'Mr. Tambourine Man' by Bob Dylan. Not only my favorite song lyric, but also one of my favorite pieces of 20th Century American poetry.

'There is too much confusion' Jimi Hendrix All Along The Watchtower

'freshly fallen silent shroud of snow' I Am a Rock Simon and Gafunkle

kennypowers · 20/02/2012 15:43

That would, of course, be 'All Along The Watchtower' by Bob Dylan.

That last line of that song, 'Two riders were approaching and the wind began to howl' always makes me think of 9/11.

Thereistoomuchconfusion · 20/02/2012 15:50

Sorry Blush should of know it was the lyrical genius that is Bob Dylan

There's a killer on the road.
His brain is squirming like a toad.

Neil Young, Riders on the Storm

On the National Express, there's a jolly hostess selling crisps and tea
She'll provide you with drinks and theatrical winks for a sky-high fee
Mini-skirts were in style when she walked down the aisle back in '63
But it's hard to get by when your arse is the size of a small countreeeeee

From the sublime National Express by the Divine Comedy.

Mmm, sorry but 'Riders On The Storm' is The Doors, not Neil Young.

Bury all your secrets in my skin,

I love the lyrics of the whole song but the opening line is my favourite.

You come home big when you're feeling small

(I can't remember the exact first bit but then it goes...)
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home and you cry and you want to die.

Smiths, How Soon Is Now.

Cheery!

Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
