In your opinion of courseWink

We've had the weirdest (I'm a serious as cancer springs to mind) and the best first lines so what do you think is the best lyric/line/s ever?
Can be one you love for the cheese factor, something meaningful for you or something you think is just brilliant song writing.

Ill start with

She's a myth that I have to believe in. All I need to make it real is one more reason. I don't know what to do.
Slipknott-Vermillion pt 2.

There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis,
Just like you swore to me that you'd be true.
There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis,
But he's a liar and I'm not sure about you!

Its probably not exactly my favourite, but I've always really liked the lyrics of this song sung by Kirsty McCall, and then I discovered that I know the person who wrote it (Phillip Rambow). Which was nice!

"You're not from New York City, you're from Rotherham" - Fake Tales of San Francisco, Arctic Monkeys.
and "As long as I gaze on Waterloo Sunset, I am in paradise" - Waterloo Sunset, The Kinks

My Uncle Charlie is a cynical man, and his wife's a touch sceptical too,
They've got one of those stickers in the back of their van,
That says we've seen the prices at the zoo,
Today I knocked upon their door, and said that I was passing,
Charlie launched a scathing attack,
When I asked him what I'd done he said 'you stupid bastard, we live in a cul-de-sac'

'I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be a star,
In somebody else's sky,oh why can't it be mine'

In my life- The Beatles:

There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All this places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more
In my life-- I love you more

Love that does not betray you, dismay or enslave you, it will set you free- Mumford and Sons.

Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with all my life- Mumford and Sons.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there, With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair. - Mumford again

And death is at your doorstep. And it will steal your innocence, but it will not steal your substance.
But you are not alone in this. And you are not alone in this. As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand - Mumford. In fact I love all their songs and their lyrics.

'Cos I'd give everything I have, all the things that being me joy, so you can have one day of pure and simple happiness. Until that moment comes, I'll be here where I've always been. I'm going to be your friend until the day I die. -Scissor Sisters, Mary.

Ring the bells
that still
can ring,
Forget
your perfect
offering,
There is a crack,
a crack,
in everything
That's how the light gets in

Chickensaresafe I was going to quote that exact same lyric. But it's 'sun' not 'star'.

What do you get when you kiss a guy?
Get enough germs to catch pneumonia
After you do, he'll never phone ya
I'll never fall in love again.
(The Carpenters)

Told me love was too plebeian,
Told me you were through with me, and
Now you say you love me...
(Cry Me A River- can't remember who it's by)

Love a clunking rhyme.

Big Bottoms - Spinal Tap

I'm miles from where you are
I, I lay down on the cold ground
I,I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms

Ernie was only 52, he didn't wanna die,
And now he's gone to make deliveries in that milk round in the sky.
Where the customers are angels and ferocious dogs are banned,
And the milkman's life is full of fun in that fairy, dairy land.

Ernie - Benny Hill Smile
