Ok, I have searched other threads but have not found exactly what I am after. I like stuff that matches the description above. Nothing too "stripped bare", one man and a guitar would not do! Has to make your spine tingle and make you cry, but be loud enough too. Any ideas as I want to expand my ipod selection?

The National; Robert Plant & Alison Krauss; 90s Emmylou Harris e.g Wrecking Ball

lovelyopaque · 04/12/2010 18:25

Love Robert Plant's voice. Thanks.

Your title sounds similar to what I like so I'll post some of what I like at the moment. I also like one-man-with-a-guitar type stuff but I know what you mean - sometimes you want something to really belt out!

KT Tunstall:

Ani DiFranco -

Amy Studt -

Probably be back with more as whenever I do posts with lost of links they all get garbled - I imagine it's an anti-spam thing.

Coldplay - (Not a coldplay fan but this is awesome)

Of course there's Muse. Really into Crowded House atm as well. I can't think of any more at the moment though.

lovelyopaque · 04/12/2010 19:16

Have been meaning to listen to more Arcade Fire. Do like Muse. Should have probably said my tastes run to rock much of the time. Thanks for so many links.

You might really like God Speed You. No vocal but AWESOME.

lovelyopaque · 04/12/2010 19:24

Not a Coldplay fan either but had forgotten about Violet Hill. Fantastic.

if you check out The National start here :
I'm looking forward to checking out some of these suggestions too - I could do with some new sounds.
Elbow also should fit the bill for the OP

Coheed & Cambria?

BertieBotts · 04/12/2010 20:10

Okay, how about a different Ani Difranco song:

(Not the best version - the Live at Radio Woodstock version is the best by far.)

I love Not a Pretty Girl too but I can't find a good version on youtube.

Coheed & Cambria -

lovelyopaque · 04/12/2010 20:13

Loved the bit of that Coheed and Cambria one that I listened to. Excellent. Will check out more of that Bertie. Like your style!

Yeasayer- All Hour Cymbals

oneglassandpuzzled · 04/12/2010 21:19

Mahler. Brahms.

lovelyopaque · 04/12/2010 21:24

I like a bit of Mahler actually. However I am partial to a fabulous rock vocal too. Should have added the word "epic" to my original description. Thanks for suggestions so far.
