Did you see Godspeed?

I saw them in December and thought that they were very impressive, certainly allowing for their hiatus.

upahill · 21/01/2011 14:47

I had tickets for God Speed and never went!

December until now has been rubbish for me and I have not been to a gig since the Sissor Sisters (who I enjoyed despite not being my normal musical taste)

I'm hoping to be well again by next week to travel to Birmingham to see a band (that I'm not really into but DS is!)

Lyra I listened to some of the gig on Radio 1 last night. Sleigh Bells did indeed sound good as did Funeral party. I missed White Lies due to being at home and having a homework fight with DS!

There was one song of Jamie Woon that sounded ok ish but def not my sort of stuff!

I did think about you while I was on the scout/ cub running up dropping and picking up my boys!

Oh and Pfft...... I forgot to add to my post Envy

PfftTheMagicDragon · 22/01/2011 20:40

How could you not go!!!?????!!

They were very tight, played very well.

upahill · 23/01/2011 10:08

Pfft.
I never went because I had Swine flu that developed into a lung infection and have had 6 weeks off work to recover. Hence no gigs, no cinema or theatre. I'm only just recovering and hoping to go and see the Cult next Sunday.

I've been gutted at all I've missed!!!

Sad

PfftTheMagicDragon · 23/01/2011 20:18

Well, I suppose that's a good excuse Wink

Hope you are feeling better x

upahill · 02/02/2011 08:50

Anyone got anything coming up?

I've not much planned at the moment in terms of gigs. Plenty of theatre and film but no gigs yet.

OP posts:
MegBusset · 03/02/2011 20:59

I'm going to see Crystal Castles next week :)

natto · 03/02/2011 21:18

Lots planned, nothing very soon..
Lykke Li, Phosphorescent, Belle & Sebastian, Simone Felice, Alela Diane.
Better get some babysitters organised......

sfxmum · 03/02/2011 21:19

Roddy Woomble Union Chapel end of March

LyraSilvertongue · 05/02/2011 16:08

This month I'm seeing Sleigh Bells on the 14th and I'm going to the NME Awards (Foo Fighters and My Chemical Romance confirmed so far) on the 23rd.
Next month I'm seeing The Wombats at the Hammersmith Apollo.
I'm trying to have at least one gig lined up every month.

upahill · 06/02/2011 20:13

I had a loot at the tour venues for Sleigh Bells Lyra and they are no where near me at all! I would have gone.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/02/2011 20:33

Really? So you like what you heard then? I think they're fabulous, and unlike anything else I've ever heard, which appeals to me.

munkymaz · 11/02/2011 20:11

Off to see Reel Big Fish in Sheffield on 26th

NotShortImFunSized · 16/02/2011 12:09

Off to see Rob Zombie & Skindred tonight, think maybe I'm a tad too excited, I'm like a kid at christmas Grin

otisdriftwood · 23/02/2011 18:11

I went to Rob Zombie last thursday...twas amazing

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2011 18:33

I went to the NME Awards at the Brixton Academy last night. It was fantastic. Got to see loads of bands play - Hurts, Crystal Castles, My Chemical Romance, PJ Harvey and Foo Fighters, who performed the whole of their new album, followed by greatest hits, 21 songs in all.
In the queue I managed to get passes for the pit - the bit between the celebs' tables and the stage. So I was leaning on the edge of the stage for the Foos and got a feel of Dave Grohl's leg when he played right in front of us. The man's one hell of a frontman Grin

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2011 18:34

Also Muse were there to collect their award for Best British Band and Biffy Clyro for Best Live Act, so I was happy.
And they gave us free beer and pizza in the pit Grin

upahill · 25/02/2011 12:07

Right after a couple of quite months due to illness - Ihave only managed to see the Cult and before that it was the Sissor Sisters in December!! - I am ready to start planning (finances permitting)

Here we

Saxon
Magnum
Black Crowes
Black Country Communion - This one is my priority - I may have mentioned my love fro Joe Bonamassa before!!

I've got a feeling Dh wouldn't mind seeing Simple Minds. I would go but if it didn't happen I wouldn't be bothered.

timmyinatizzy · 25/02/2011 21:12

Upahill - You're a Joe fan too? The bloke that sits next to me at work is a huge fan, has seen him loads in the last couple of years. He's trying to convince me to go next time he's in London.

I've recently (well since December) seen Scissor Sisters, Squeeze (supported by Lightning Seeds) and most recently Hurts (they fully deserved their NME award) at the The Forum.

We've got the Foo's gig at Milton Keynes lined up which I'm looking forward to as Biffy Clyro are performing too.

Lyra - Whats the new Foo stuff like?

LyraSilvertongue · 25/02/2011 23:29

New Foos - good, but it all started to blend in to one after a while because it was all unfamiliar. They played the whole album, but they got much more of a reaction to their older songs that people knew.

upahill · 26/02/2011 09:32

Timmy I adore Joe!!
I went to see him at the Apollo at the back end of last year (October, November, can't remember which)
When he playes Sloe Gin the place was just filled with heartbreak! Beautiful stuff!! He plays and sings like a god and talks and looks like a geek!! He's ace!

Hurts were supporting Scissor Sisters when I went to see them but I don't rate them. They were on for half an hour and my mate then tried to persuade me to see them at the Academy at the begining of Feb. I declined but he went and was dissapointed thye were on for just short of an hour.

I must admit that the Scissor Sisters aren't my usual taste in music but it was a really good night.

I saw Mogwai the other night, am pondering Bright Eyes in July but find them very hit and miss.

Waiting for the next ATP announcement for December as don't fancy Mangum.

Meow75 · 26/02/2011 10:38

We're seeing Iron Maiden in July. Booked the tickets over Christmas, I think DH is going to explode with excitement!!!

Nothing else on, except going to a performance of Goodnight Mr Tom in May - full box of Kleenex with every ticket!!! Sad Wink
