Maddie

I can't remember the whole set list for the Manics but they started with 'you love us' they did a lot of old stuff and crowd pleasers (If you tolerate this, design for life, everything must go, motorcycle emptiness and so on)

JDB did a solo set as well (Stay Beautiful, Ocean Spray etc)
There wasn't that much from 'Postcards...' from what I remember. They played Golden Platitudes. I had expected them to play 'Don't be evil' but they didn't
Very good show

GnR were great but so late on we had to miss half the set as I had taken 14 yr old DD with me and although I could have coped with night buses home I don't think she could have.

Gaslight ANthem were brilliant helped by the fact that they are very pleasing on the eye!!

2shoes · 08/11/2010 09:48

have to post
went to see A7X, Stone Sour and HellYeah last night, was fantastic

blushingm · 08/11/2010 11:01

i wish i could go and see gaslight anthem - they are doing a few dates - inc belfast and dublin - but they are not coming any where close to wales Angry

upahill · 08/11/2010 12:26

Oh dear BlushMaddie I got the wrong end of the stick! I thought you wanted the set list for the manics.

uaphill, it's me that's caused the confusion. It is the Manic's set list I want. Glad you enjoyed itGrin

LyraSilvertongue · 04/12/2010 02:42

yay, got tickets for metronomy and lykke li next year. anyone else a fan?

LyraSilvertongue · 07/12/2010 23:38

Blushing, they were gooooooooood.
Seeing them again next year supporting Foo Fighters. Will be my fourth time.
Have you seen them live? If so where and when?
Simon had bleached blond hair for the Wembley gig in the summer (supporting Muse) and he looked like Santa Claus. Thankfully he's gone dark again.

natto · 09/12/2010 09:20

just reporting on here after going to see Belle and Sebastian on tuesday. they were absolutely awesome, and played with a full orchestra which worked so so well. lots of dancing, banter and just fantastic music. definitely one of my live highlights of the year!

Himalaya · 09/12/2010 09:32

Feeling super jealous of all you folks seeing Foofighters and Biffy Clyro.

I saw The View last weekend which was fab, until some idiots started offering the band out for a fight, pushed over the barriers and it all got a bit hectic (so they finished early). bah.

DH and DS are going to see Enter Shikari before xmas. DS (11) has all kinds of big ideas about moshing - I think when he sees the reality of it he will be a bit scared. DH has promised to keep him well back.

claikit · 09/12/2010 09:39

Just booked British Sea Power tickets for February:)

slug · 09/12/2010 09:43

My entire gig going this year has been crammed intothe space of 10 days.

The Young Gods
Echo and the Bunnymen
Godspeed You Black Emperor

upahill · 17/12/2010 17:43

Just checking in again

Claikit.... I saw BSP supporting the Manics in October. They were OK.

Slug.... What did you think of Echo and the Bunnymen. Last time I saw them they were the worst gig I had ever seen. Since then only HIM have come close to being as bad.

I went to seee the Scissor Sisters last weeekend. Now normally not my bag but went with mate and DH and had a fantastic night!

Skunk Anaise was great the other week. Really good show.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Cult at the end of January.

meant to be at the O2 tomorrow for KOL - i hope it goes ahead

LyraSilvertongue · 21/12/2010 12:23

Apparently KoL's tour buses are on fire outside the venue Xmas Confused

LyraSilvertongue · 19/01/2011 12:39

Not a proper gig as such, but I'm going to this tomorrow night:

www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/inmwtlive/2011/london.shtml.

Love White Lies, Sleigh Bells, Nero and Funeral Party. Never heard of Jamie Woon.
Zane Lowe is hosting so it should be a good night Smile

upahill · 20/01/2011 13:06

What was the BBC gig like Lyra?

( would have been worth going just to look at Zane Lowe!!)

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 20/01/2011 14:52

It's tonight, Upahill.

I'm very excited. I've seen White Lies before so I know they're good and I adore Sleigh Bells' album so I can't wait to see them. Funeral party I've wanted to see for a while but I've never heard of Jamie Woon.
I love Zane Lowe so him hosting is perfect. I'm going to try to get there for doors (6pm) so I can get good seats. Smile

upahill · 20/01/2011 16:15

Have fun Lyra!
I quite like White Lies but I only heard of Sleigh Bells this morning on the radio but was only half listening!
I've not heard of Jimmy Woon but youtubed it for you to have a look - in case you haven't

Don't think it is my thing tbh.

Let us know what you thnk.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 20/01/2011 16:22

Hmm. Not my kind of thing either.

I can't imagine half-listening to Sleigh Bells - they're very in your face Grin

I'll report back tomorrow Smile

upahill · 20/01/2011 16:59

Well it was 8.00am this morning on the Chris Evans show and I was on the M65 talking to DH about our problem child so I'll re listen at some point!

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 21/01/2011 13:32

Grin They so have songs which aren't so in your face so it might have been one of those.

Last night was great. Really fun DJ sets from Zane Lowe and Nero. Funeral Party were good, they played two songs I know and three I didn't, Sleigh Bells were amazing, they played almost all of their album, which I love, White Lies I really enjoyed (they did 11 songs) but Jamie Woon was rubbish, as expected. He's a very uncharismatic performer and looked like he was wearing black pyjamas. And the songs were crap too.

We got front row centre seats in the balcony so had a perfect view throughout, of the performers and the mosh pits below Grin

LyraSilvertongue · 21/01/2011 13:33

Do have songs, not So have songs.
I hate that this site doesn't let you edit your posts.
