If the conservatives do decide to vote for it what will happen then I wonder.

It all seems to be kicking off today doesn't it. At least something is happening

Tories are planning to vote against - they dont agree with the cuts.

Richard Burgon is the one whose pushed for these cuts not to go ahead - honestly that man should be PM not starmer & rachel should step down after this! she is not fit for the job!

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/06/2025 14:07

Did you read the last BBC link though, says they might vote with the gov as political pain would be worse for Starmer, I don't think we can count on the conservatives voting against

I watched Politics Live and Kit Malthouse alluded to the Tories voting in favour

bestcatlife · 24/06/2025 14:24

I cannot stand to even look at Starmer. Hate the man.

I hope my updates are not stressing people out further

Hopefully we will soon see the end of these cuts

I don't think that he is leading the party in the right way. I think that he should be replaced with Angela Rayner, personally. I think she would do a better job, frankly.

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/06/2025 15:38

They still seem to keep parroting the same stuff, pretending PIP is an out of work benefit, when it isn't.

Even if it was its for people out of work because of life affecting disabilities! Its not people who just cant be arsed working! Its so, so hard to get PIP!

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/06/2025 15:46

Yes, it feels like all they care about is work and people's sole value is from work, some people cannot work due to illness and that is just how things are. It's not their fault.

OP posts:
TigerRag · 24/06/2025 15:48

They seem to be ignoring the fact that some people manage to stay in work because they get pip (notability car etc)

LadyKenya · 24/06/2025 15:52

Have they even mentioned the mobility side of PIP? I thought that they were not looking to change anything there, only the daily living section. I may have missed something though.

No, the mobility side of things is staying the same.

So far.

Voting with the government just for the political fall out with no thought to the lives of disabled people would confirm that Rayner was right about Tories being scum. But then again, she is no better if she votes for this.

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/06/2025 16:42

They all seem as bad as each other, don't trust them at all anymore.

Sadiq Khan is condemning the changes and urging a rethink.

Well we don't have to worry about the Tories supporting the bill. Badenoch has just issued a list of demands in return for doing so. I would imagine that Starmer will tell her where to get off.

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/06/2025 19:36

Oh really interesting, any idea what the demands are?

Reduce welfare spending further than this bill achieves, get more people back to work and commit to no tax rises.

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/06/2025 20:02

OK, thanks

“There is a clear moral case, which is: the current system doesn’t help those who want to get into work,” he (Starmer) said.

“It traps people. I think it’s 1,000 people a day going on to Pip. The additions to Pip each year are the equivalent of a city the size of Leicester. That is not a system that can be left unreformed.”

Why does he basically keep lying about PIP being related to being out of work? It is infuriating.

Thanks for keeping this thread going @Orangesandlemons77
