Yet another thread for neurodivergent mumsnetters.

Lots of links in old threads.

Anyone is welcome, it's not just about autism.

I can't stand "festive". Makes me feel like I'm crawling with maggots.

That's what I like about this thread, jen, the fact I'm connecting with people who "get it".

jenjen73 · 19/10/2016 20:19

Yep, posts like the one above just about sums it up. Grin

PigPigTrotters · 19/10/2016 20:51

I've had to get used to maggots, as since dh's stroke I am always on bin duty, and they're hard to avoid sometimes Envy (not envy, vom face).

I've unleashed the inner tosser and have started posting on the cure thread Blush
May have to leave MN again for a bit!

jen finding this board (well being invited by BDH) really helped me. I feel like I've got people who understand at last. I've never had that before. If I told people IRL that my clothes bug me they'd look at me like Hmm but you lot know that some clothes are bloody annoying. If I could I'd be naked all the time, but I can't. And also it's not a pretty sight. Grin
Patterns which aren't patterns bug me. So if there's a pattern but a bit of it's wrong I get really annoyed.

Yes I have trypophobia. Don't anybody dare post images or I won't be able to come back! And please refrain also from describing or even mentioning the patterns.

I am slightly more tolerant of would of etc since I learned about how we pronounce words and realised that it's a mishearing of would've because would've and would of when in the middle of a normal sentence sound identical. It's just when we think of would of alone then we emphasise the O and it sounds utterly wrong.

BertieBotts · 19/10/2016 21:00

In fact aaaaaaargh no it's already got me and I've just been horribly creeped out by my dinner, because the water on the rice boiled off and left six perfect tunnels and then the frozen chicken stuff broke apart in a really crystally way - I managed to push it all into the melty bit but it's made me really shiver and cringe and itch horribly.

Can we talk about kittens or grammar or something?!

Trying to think if I have any weird phobias and coming up short.

I used to commute into London via Battersea and couldn't bring myself to look at the power station because it felt too imposing. Knowing that the train was about to go past it, I would imagine its imposing structure and get a bit of an adrenalin rush. It was a very safe way to experience the thrill of being scared I guess. I grew out of that one though. I think I'm much more grounded these days and don't give in to those flights of fancy as much.

Polter, at least you know exactly what you're on about, my brain runs off, writes crap and posts it before I've given it permission!

Thank you Polter Cake

I tried to find a photo of one of our cats, but they're all rubbish photos. I have mainly cloud photos, shortly followed by pig photos!

One of my cloud photos has made it as the group photo on a FB group I'm in. Very proud day Grin

autisticrat I once sent a threatening legal letter after a government department used "affect" when they meant "effect"

Might have been just a tiny overreaction, in retrospect.

jenjen73 · 19/10/2016 21:55

Yikes, I could get into serious trouble with the grammar police on this board! My DH is a writer and it pains me that I can't construct a proper sentence. Blush

PigPigTrotters · 19/10/2016 21:56

Laura Grin

I was very nearly put off ds's new school when I looked at the website, which had headings like Photo's and Testimonial's. You'd think someone in a school would have noticed!
