This is the feedback thread for the 120 Mumsnet users with at least one child aged 3 months and 5 years who have been testing Milton’s new antibacterial hand sanitiser. Testers were asked to try the hand sanitiser with their whole family as and when needed over the course of two weeks. The sanitiser is suitable for the whole family from 3 months old and is made from 100% plant based, natural ingredients, is alcohol-free and dermatologically tested.

Here’s what Milton has to say: “We care for babies' fragile skin as well as protecting little ones and their family from germs. This is why we have developed the first Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser that is fully suitable for little ones skin from 3 months old. Our alcohol free foam kills 99.9% of germs in a matter of seconds and our plant based formula is better for the environment, you and your baby. Ideal for on the go use, our rinse-free formula is perfect for hand hygiene with no need for water or soap.”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the questions below:

I thought it was brilliant!
It pumps out into a foam and it's really easy to rub in.
Yep, I've kept it in the pram and it's been super useful.
Love it.
Will recommend!

  1. What were your overall thoughts on Milton’s antibacterial hand sanitiser?

  • we really liked having the sanitiser in the house & also found it useful knowing it was safe to use for our 6 month old who seems to be obsessed with wriggling towards the dog & rabbit so it’s a quick way to clean his hands once he’s touched the animals.

  1. What did you like most about the sanitiser? Did you like the fact that it is plant based, has no alcohol and no fragrance?

  • the foam means it was easy to use & not messy. I like that it doesn’t have alcohol & is plant based, but would prefer a nicer fragrance as it smells a little industrial although the smell doesn’t linger on your hands

  1. Was the sanitiser easy to use both in the home and when out and about?

  • it was great to use especially with it being foam it seemed to stop us using too much & having no way of getting rid of that ‘wet’ feeling on the hands

  1. How do you feel about the hand sanitiser being a foam based product rather than a gel?

  • I much preferred it as it didn’t leave a coating on our hands

  1. Would you recommend Milton antibacterial hand sanitiser to other parents of young children?

  • I think it’s great and will be continuing to use it knowing it’s safe for the whole family to use & mess free

I was very impressed by how gentle it is

  1. What did you like most about the sanitiser? Did you like the fact that it is plant based, has no alcohol and no fragrance?

My eldest is 8 (so wasn't officially part of this test) and he has extremely sensitive skin and never uses hand sanitiser - which is a bit of a pain in the current climate. I let him try this stuff and it does not hurt him or even dry his skin. So impressed!!

  1. Was the sanitiser easy to use both in the home and when out and about?

Yes fairly easy - perhaps an attached lid/flip top would make it perfect.

  1. How do you feel about the hand sanitiser being a foam based product rather than a gel?

Loved it, very easy to use and quick drying.

  1. Would you recommend Milton antibacterial hand sanitiser to other parents of young children?

Yes, especially those with sensitive skin

  1. Smell isn't very nice
  2. No alcohol in - I have a 3 month old so don't want to put anything harsh on his skin or something potentially toxic as his hands are ALWAYS in his mouth

3.Yes, when I remembered to put in my bag
  1. Prefer it as it's less sticky and easier to use a smaller amount
  2. No because it dried up my skin so I wouldn't want to dry up baby's skin too

*I liked it. Clean to use, handy size and good for baby and older children
*
  1. What did you like most about the sanitiser? Did you like the fact that it is plant based, has no alcohol and no fragrance?

*yes. Those factors appealed to me. I wouldn’t want to put anything fragranced or with alcohol on baby’s hands.

  1. Was the sanitiser easy to use both in the home and when out and about?

yes. 1 pump is enough to cover your hands

  1. How do you feel about the hand sanitiser being a foam based product rather than a gel?

I prefer it. My 5 year old likes to do everything herself. With gel she puts far too much on and it goes wverywhere. The foam was easy, as it was just 1 pump to cover your hands.

  1. Easy to use, gentle on hands, foam is easy to rub in and nice and visual with young kids to do

  1. The foam!
  2. Easy to use yes, I have tried other similar products (plant based, alcohol free) that have a toggle so these are my go to for out and about.
  3. Love the foam, great visual cue for little ones rubbing in hands and spreads and dries super quick and easily.
  4. I like it, and I like the foam element in particular. I will probably continue buying my current product (Toddle kids hand gel), which has some of the benefits (natural, no alcohol) but other benefits such as less plastic and the toggle for out and about.
