This is the feedback thread for the 200 Mumsnet users who have been testing Klearvol essential oil inhalation capsules. This product test was open to all MNers with at least one child aged over 3 months to 12 years old.

Muslin on radiator, I didn't have the heating on but think it would have been great if I did so will use again in the winter months.

The test came at the perfect time and the capsules arrived just as my baby started with a cold! I used twice.

Loved them, I usually use snuffle babe but liked the smell of Klearvol more.

I liked the fact that the amount is already measured out for you. Don't have to worry about using too much or not enough.

Yes, my baby had a much more settled night when I used this product.

3. What did you think of Klearvol inhalation capsules? Liked the smell but the snip top wouldn’t be ideal if it’s needed to apply in the middle of the night.

2. When did you use the inhalation capsules? How many times a year do you think you would need to use Klearvol inhalation capsules? Overnight. Hmm. I would think about four times a year- my girls tend to give each other the colds!
3. What did you think of Klearvol inhalation capsules? I liked them. Only downside- once the cap is cut off it's easy to lose!
4. What did you like most about Klearvol inhalation capsules? The smell going up the stairs at night.

1. I used the capsule on a muslin, out of reach of my baby.
2. I used them at night in my baby's bedroom, she had a badly blocked nose at the time which was keeping her from sleeping well. I would use them throughout the year whenever my children had a blocked nose.
3. I thought they helped clear my baby's nose and I liked the smell.
4. I liked that they were small capsules but powerful, I didn't expect them to clear my baby's nose as well as they did.
5. Yes, definitely. I would use myself if I needed to as well as the children.

I used it on a muslin cloth tied out of reach, my daughter is in a bunk bed so I tied it to her ladder. I hadn't thought of putting it over the radiator, I am going to try that next time!

Used when my youngest had a bit of a stuffy nose. Maybe would use them once or twice a month for each child so around six times a month.

I really liked them, the capsule is convenient and mess free, you don't end up pouring out more than you need. They seem to do the trick in terms of congestion and I really like the smell. I wasn't sure if the capsule was environmentally friendly or not though.

I think we would only use when having a heavy cold with a blocked nose, so winter cold time. We used this week as my daughter had a sore throat.

They were a very strong smell and I'm not sure of their overall effectiveness. Not quite sold on them to be honest!

2. Used them for a full week. Probably quite regularly rough he winter as DD is prone to colds
3. They were ok, maybe slightly stronger would be more beneficial. We normally use the calpol ones which work brilliantly

5. Yes it is a calming product and did slightly benefit her breathing. They are a bit pricey

Overnight when my little one had a stuffy nose. I’d probably use them a few times a year if his cold was quite bad.

1. What did you think of Klearvol inhalation capsules? I think they’re good and can’t be rubbed off like vapour rub. The scent is strong and does seem to work.

I used before bedtime as from the marketing I believed they were smells to aid calming down.

Confusing. Are they for colds? Smells like olbas oil, but not marketed as decongestant.

They smelled natural and pleasant. I still don't understand what you are seeking to achieve with the soothing part.

1. What did you think of Klearvol inhalation capsules? I liked them. Would prefer a snap off top. I wasn't clear what purpose they were for until I smelt them. I think they are are too strong for general relaxation.

I APPLIED THE LIQUID TO A MUSLIN AND SECURED TO THE BEDFRAME, OUT OF REACH BUT CLOSE ENOUGH TO WORK ITS MAGIC

I REALLY THINK THEY WORKED. MY CHILD TENDS TO SNORE AND HAVE DISTURBED SLEEP WITH A COLD BUT HE HAS SETTLED AND SLEPT SOUNDLY SINCE USING THESE. I AM SO IMPRESSED AND WILL DEFINITELY BUY MORE.

THEY ACTUALLY WORKED AND THEY DIDN'T IRRITATE HIS EYES LIKE OTHER SIMILAR 'MENTHOL INHALATION' PRODUCTS HAVE DONE IN THE PAST.

we used them when my daughter was congested from a cold. I think we would use them alot especially in the winter when someone always seems to have a cold

They were a little bit fiddly to use but very effective in helping with congestion so in turn my daughter slept better

Overnight for my daughter. Our neighbour’s little boy also tried one as he had a stuffy cold. I would use them probably over the winter if feeling a bit cold. Not regularly but if I felt they might serve a purpose.

I was really unimpressed that the capsules are made from gelatine and as a result wouldn’t buy them as we are all vegan. The principle of them is great and I love the smell of the essential oils, but both kids found the vapours too strong, so may be better for adults.
