This is the feedback thread for the 200 Mumsnet users who have been testing Klearvol essential oil inhalation capsules. This product test was open to all MNers with at least one child aged over 3 months to 12 years old.

Used at bedtime, both had been a bit snuffly with blocked noses.

The smell was pleasant though I’m not so keen after a couple of days. DCs liked them and asked for them again the next night. I would use myself and try inhaling if I had a blocked nose.

1. What did you like most about Klearvol inhalation capsules? Easy to use, echo previous posters regarding plastic. Pleasant smell. Certainly easy to use than Vicks vapour rub!
2. Do you feel that Klearvol provides soothing natural vapours? Yes, it seemed that way. Would be good to try again if/when anyone in the family has a heavy cold. A handy product to keep in medical box.

1. I put them on a muslin on dd's bedside table out of reach.
2. We used them at bedtime, as stuffy noses always seem worse at bedtime. Over winter months I can see myself using them weekly.
3. I really liked them, but I have used karvol in the past so knew what to expect.
4. My favourite thing is that they are in capsule form. Much easier than trying to work out how many drops of olbas oil has dropped onto a tissue.

They are very convenient.

1. They definitely gave off soothing vapours. My 6 year olds exact words were "they stink, but I'll get used to it!"

I thought they smelt lovely and gave a calming effect.

How many times a year do you think you would need to use Klearvol inhalation capsules? At night when my little one was struggling to settle as she was very congested. Over Winter with colds they would be very helpful to use, so probably quite a bit.

I used them mainly at night in the bedroom but did use them during the day as my son had a cold. I would use them year round when my son has a cold but also as adults to help with sinus pain.

Loved them, they were really pleasant smelling and not artificial like alot of other products.

Loved the aroma and used them for my son and adults in the family. They weren't overpowering at all like other products that claim to do the same and the aroma lasted well

Yes definitely. There are other products that claim to do the same that we have tried and they only made my son worse. These really helped, they were great.

We used it on a muslin cloth out of reach of the kids.

I used them in the living room after bath time to start winding down, and then in my sons room overnight. I think around this time of year I’d use them, as the kids go back to school and start picking up bugs and the weather changes.

I thought they were great. They didn’t irritate the back of my throat after long exposure like other brands.

I loved that my son said he noticed his nose wasn’t as blocked quite quickly after using them, and that the smell just added to the evening wind down.

Yes, it’s not overwhelming, it’s gentle, which is just what you want when using them for the kids.

I used these at night by placing the capsules in a diffuser in my kids room 20 minutes before bed time. I would probably use these throughout the winter months to help them sleep.

Before bedtime when both my daughtera have colds, to help them breath. Would imagine quite a few times a year when they get colds.

They are great, the vapour is strong enough to help them breath and its not too overwhelming

Pleasant smell, not too over powering. Packaging a bit vague about what they do/are for. I hoped these would act as a sleep aid based on the graphics, but sadly not!

1. I had popped this on a muslin tucked down the side of the mattress. I think in colder months if required I’d leave it on top of the radiator with the heating on.
2. I used this overnight just to test the product for the purposes of this survey, but going forward I’d definitely use if my little one (or myself) was feeling snuffly or congested with a cold.
3. I really liked this product. I’ve previously used a plug in vapour product for nighttime when little one has been congested, but I’d be happy to swap over to these instead as they are better value and a more pleasant scent.
4. The smell was very pleasant and they were very easy to use. I’d need to wait until we have a cold, but I’m confident they will be helpful in reliving symptoms of congestion.

1. What did you think of Klearvol inhalation capsules? I loved the smell - soft but calming and not overwhelming but I thought the tiny capsules were fiddly and also resembled sweets with their green colour.
