Recruitment is now closed.

HyperJar is looking for Mumsnet users to test a new money management app that lets you plan, budget and grow your spending power in Jars. Please note this app is NOT a replacement for your bank account and will NOT affect your credit score. For more information on HyperJar, check out the website here.

Selected testers will be required to:

  • Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, sign up and order a HyperJar card (it takes about a week to arrive)
  • Create a Jar so that HyperJar can send £10 to your new account to spend using the app, wherever you like
  • Transfer some money from your bank to your HyperJar account. This can be spent wherever you’d usually spend – no need to change shopping habits
  • Start testing out the app (instructions on exactly how to do this will be sent to testers)

We’d like you to test HyperJar over four weeks. Once the test is over, if you don’t want to carry on using HyperJar, they will close your account and help you transfer any money you haven’t spent back into your bank account.

Here is how HyperJar describes itself: “HyperJar is the world’s smartest payment app. An easy, digital version of jam-jar budgeting. The Jars you create reflect your life, your spending and your goals. Jars for groceries, lunches, Christmas, kids’ clubs, nights out, holidays… With HyperJar, you can see where your money is going, not just where it went.

“So why use HyperJar? 1. Clearer, easier, happier money when you plan in Jars. For groceries, lunches, holidays. For life. 2. Shared spending, solved. Plan and spend together with Group Jars. Easy pop-up joint accounts and digital kitties for 2-30 people. 3. Make planning pay with our partners. Lock in money with them for an inflation-beating Annual Growth Rate of 4.8%. 4. Spend directly from any Jar with the world’s smartest payment card.”

Selected testers will be required to leave feedback on a private thread on Mumsnet as well as complete a short survey. All testers who do will be entered into a prize draw where 3 MNers will win a £100 voucher each of their choice (from a list).

Please don’t download the app directly from the App Store if you want to take part in this test – HyperJar are waiting to finish a few features which will be ready for Mumsnet users by the time we’ve selected our testers.

If you would like to sign up to test this app, please click here.

Thanks and good luck.

But there’s a competition inherent to this - 3x £100 vouchers to be won.

But no detail as to date if draw.

JustineBMumsnet · 04/11/2019 15:36

@Gonetoofarmaybe we're just giving people a heads up about a future prize draw at this stage - we don't have opening date for this yet, so it's not possible for us to give a closing date. If you've been selected then we will give further information about this at a later date.

Gonetoofarmaybe · 04/11/2019 17:31

@JustineBMumsnet

But you never give the date of the draw. Ever. I have entered many!

CatkinToadflax · 05/11/2019 14:33

Thanks for picking me to test HyperJar! I’m looking forward to giving the app a go and hopefully revolutionising and reining in my chaotic spending habits!

Lovemenorca · 05/11/2019 19:43

It’s appalling
I’m trying to transfer the money out of hyper jar that I put in (thankfully only a few pounds just to test out), and it keeps kicking me out every time I try to add my bank details.

Will mean another thing to add to my to do list to sort out tomorrow Hmm

LucyBMumsnet · 06/11/2019 16:41

Hi @Lovemenorca - though we're still recruiting testers we are working with quotas to an extent for this product test, and as a result you unfortunately weren't selected to take part. However, we're aware you've downloaded the app already and HyperJar are still keen to help you out with using it - they're aware of this bug and they are in the process of fixing it. Please contact HyperJar support via this link and they will be able to help you with transferring your money back.

It is very worrying that I put money in BUT can’t get out

I think your involvement with this should cease until hyper have fixed a very significant issue (they probably puts them against the regulator presumably)

Mumsnetters... you have been warned. I put money in and now because of a bug - I can’t get money out

JustineBMumsnet · 07/11/2019 09:46

@Lovemenorca If you contact HyperJar, as mentioned above, they will make sure the money is transferred back to you. Their customer service team is happy to help and are contactable via live chat and email, replying in less than 24 hours.

Lovemenorca · 07/11/2019 12:02

Brilliant - just another try but to add to do list
Find contact details, contact hyper, find out problem and try to get money back

Thanks mumsnet

Lovemenorca · 07/11/2019 12:02

“Another thing to add to do list”

RosinaC · 07/11/2019 13:00

Confused LoveMenorca, i'm using it on my iPhone and i've been able to transfer money to my bank no problem at all. Perhaps just message them?

I had one question in the app live chat about how the Lidl deal works and they sorted it out for me there and then. Took less than 2 minutes. Wine

Lovemenorca · 07/11/2019 17:41

Thanks @RosinaC

Although I suspect you work at hyper. Why else would you change your name or join up to mumsnet for the first time just to post on this thread?!

RosinaC · 07/11/2019 22:03

No problem LoveMenorca
I wasn't aware I had changed my name? what do you mean? Confused

I don't work for them, but i do know someone who does. I've had mumsnet for a little while, only started using it since i knew i could follow this

Anyway, good luck with your money!

Lovemenorca · 08/11/2019 05:58

* Anyway, good luck with your money!*

Yes, good luck needed. Just been in app to try and get my money transferred to my bank account and there’s still a glitch in the app that means I can’t do this.

But what I find really bad is that hyper hasn’t been in contact with me to explain this is the case. Instead mumsnet updates me on this thread.

And @RosinaC - all I’m saying that I find it a bit suss that someone has never posted on mumsnet ever before suddenly decides to in order to say how great a company is.

Reluctantbettlynch · 08/11/2019 07:48

@Lovemenorca you could have contacted hyperjar instead of posting here. Your issue is with them Confused it's obvious that @JustineBMumsnet or another HQ bod would reply here as Hyperjar are highly unlikely to be reading / have an MN account.
I think your irritation is getting the better of common sense I'm afraid.
Take the 2 minutes to contact them directly online and it may well be resolved. I'm not sure why you expect mn to fix it.

Lovemenorca · 08/11/2019 08:13

Yes I I’ll contact them
But I could do without having to ring and sort
Although perhaps you could get the wheels in motion for me Wink

Cataline · 08/11/2019 12:47

Thanks for selecting me!

I got the email but when I click on the link to download the app I get an invalid link message.

I did email to request a new link but haven't had a reply as yet.

Cataline · 08/11/2019 21:30

@JustineBMumsnet Would someone be able to send me a new link to download the app please?

Reluctantbettlynch · 09/11/2019 09:21

@Lovemenorca your behaviour is most peculiar. I've been selected for the trial, but cannot contact them on your behalf. You're like a crazy conspiracy theorist, anyone who doesn't slate hyperjar and pity your hardship must be a hyperjar spy ConfusedHmm

Underthefur · 09/11/2019 09:53

I have been selected for the trial, downloaded the app with no problem and received my card in the post this morning.

The app looks good, very user friendly with features that will actually help me with budgeting.

I'm looking forward to getting started Smile

Grumpasaurus · 09/11/2019 13:04

SUCH a good idea!!!

eyestightshut · 09/11/2019 18:28

I have been selected and received my card. I have activated it, but my account hasn't been credited yet? Is there something I am missing?

schoolcook · 09/11/2019 19:41

@eyestightshut mine took a few hours to credit.

I am loving this already it works perfectly for online payment I've topped up my daughter's lunch account at school and ordered her pets food to pick up in the week.

I like the way you can choose which jar to pay from so no faffing about transferring it.
