This activity is now closed

This is the feedback thread for the MNers who have both completed and are still working on finishing the Disney 24 Hour Challenge. Disney are looking for as many families as possible to sign up to take part in their new 24 Hour Challenge as part of Disney’s Healthy living commitment. The challenge is to clock up a total of 24 hours worth of activity with your team between June and September.

If after reading the feedback this sounds like something your family would be interested in, the challenge is still ongoing so please sign up here, create your team page and please select ‘Mumsnet’ when asked where you heard about the challenge.

Here’s what Disney have to say: “This summer Disney invites you to take part in the 24 Hour Challenge, a FREE, virtual challenge inspired by Incredibles 2, that you can do anywhere, at any time. Every week teams will have a chance to win Incredible prizes, including 10 weekly prize bundles worth £200 each and, if you complete all 24 hours, a holiday to Disneyland Paris to experience and take part in the Magic Run weekend, from 21st – 23rd September.

Families can clock up time doing activities they already enjoy (like walking, swimming, playing in the park), use our “missions” (inspired by the characters from the Disney/Pixar film Incredibles 2) as ideas to get started, or try something new!”

Testers please answer the following questions:

  • How have you found the challenge so far?
  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team?
  • How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
  • Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?
  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge
  • What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?

Everyone who leaves feedback on the 24 Hour Challenge will be in with the chance of winning one of the following prizes:

  • Family ticket to the West End musical Aladdin + £200 for travel and accommodation**
  • Family ticket to Disney on Ice + £200 for travel and accommodation*
  • £100 voucher of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck
MNHQ

  • How have you found the challenge so far?

Full disclosure. We started well (we swim every Monday so that's one hour clocked in every week for a start), we've had a few walks too but I've not been very well the last few weeks as I had a relapse (medical) which lead to me falling and whacking my head. A bit of concussion but otherwise ok. So the challenge fine, everything around it not so.

  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team?

We've clocked up more than I've submitted on the team page- we're always busy and with being ill too I really need reminders to nudge me into signing in.

  • How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?

We've been swimming and walking, trampolining etc.

  • Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?

Erm no, sorry, I must have missed them.

  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge?

I think it's a great idea, could do with some more prompts to encourage you to actively take part. We spend all our weekend in the garden doing stuff so this has just made sure we've been active doing it.

  • What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?

It's a good cause, it's good for you and i'm sure your circumstances are a bit better than mine so you'll probably clock up the hours in no time.

Eccle80 · 19/07/2018 23:03
  1. It isn't practical for us for the whole family to do it together, I have 9, 6 and 2 year olds, the 2 year old can't do the same as the older ones and that also then limits both parents being involved
  2. Very little due to the limits above
  3. I had hoped to use park run, but the older two do junior park run without us running and the little one can't do it. My eldest does the 5km parkrun with his Dad but again it is not all of us. We are very active as a family but not in ways we can log for this!
  4. No, they weren't suitable for us
  5. I like the idea, but the reality doesn't work
  6. It would be lovely for a family with similar aged children, but harder if you have age gaps
Iamnotanugget · 19/07/2018 23:11

How have you found the challenge so far? We haven't started it! We've had other plans that last couple of weekends and I was hoping we could do this during the summer holidays.

  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team? Zero
  • How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together? We plan to swim, walk and bike together.
  • Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ? No, but I think we will.
  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge? It's encouraged us to plan activities.
  • What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge? Pick a time when your not too busy!
mininionsteve · 20/07/2018 07:12
  • How have you found the challenge so far?
It's been quite fun, but keep forgetting about it so probably have doubled the hours at this point!
  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team?
21 hours so far, but keep forgetting to log in to the site.
  • How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
Swimming, walking, having a kick about in the garden
  • Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?
No haven't tried the missions
  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge
Encouraging everyone to be outdoors and on the move.
  • What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?
Give it a go, it's easier to build up hours than you think.
FitzChivalry · 20/07/2018 09:23
  1. Great, though the hard part about it has been doing the activity with all team members present, as we mostly work opposite shifts at the min
  1. Only 6 - due to the above.
  1. Mainly usual daily activities like walking the dog, but have made a special effort to do extra like take the frisbee with us for some extra running around.
  1. No.
  1. That it made me think about how we spend time when we are all together.
  1. Give it a go, it is good to think about what you do as a family, and even if you can't do much as a family (like us due to working opposite shifts) it still made me think how I could improve the activity time of me and the children
TellMeItsNotTrue · 20/07/2018 13:07

Sorry for the late response, end of school and an ill DC have left things hectic here

- How have you found the challenge so far?
- How many hours have you clocked up as a team?
- How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
- Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ? No
- What has been your favourite thing about the challenge

Unfortunately I misunderstood the challenge and mis-sold it to DC, I thought it was something we could work on over the summer but the aim is something we naturally achieve in a normal week anyway. I thought it would encourage us all to be more active over the summer and this is how I had described it to DC. We were all disappointed when we looked in to it together, and older DC asked why it was set so low (leading on to a discussion about different people having different activity levels, going to different clubs, having different hobbies, living too far to walk to school etc) so we kind of abandonned it at that point so I think this answers the above questions

- What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?
Look in to it properly before bringing the idea up with DC, and think about whether it's achievable and if it will be too easy or hard as this will leave DC unmotivated

  • How have you found the challenge so far?
Good but the weather has been hot. Even still I can't believe we clocked as many hours as we did
  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team?
We have clocked 26 hours so far
  • How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
We have done running, walking and things like hide and seek, chase and hopscotch. We have been to the park and on walks through the woods.
  • Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?
We had a look but decided to do our own thing
  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge
Spending time together as a family doing exercise and keeping healthy
  • What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?
Do it! There's nothing to loose! You probably do more than you realise anyway
PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/07/2018 21:34

@EllieMumsnet The email we received after completing the Challenge had a clicky button that wasn't clicky, so we can't download our certificate. 😭

I didn't end up doing the challenge, as seemed a bit faffy with the sponsorship.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/08/2018 11:22

Thanks Disney for our Incredibles 2 product bundle! We love it! 😆

Lyn29 · 01/08/2018 21:03

@PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks Wow!!! Did you win the goodies for completing the mission? Well done Smile

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 01/08/2018 21:08

No, they select 1 team per week. You don't have to have completed. DS2 and I are covered in stickers! We got loads of other typically Disney merchandise quality stuff too. 😆 DS2 had supper on his plate and has been drinking out of his cup all day, I'll use my mug for my coffee in the morning. 😆
