This activity is now closed

This is the feedback thread for the MNers who have both completed and are still working on finishing the Disney 24 Hour Challenge. Disney are looking for as many families as possible to sign up to take part in their new 24 Hour Challenge as part of Disney’s Healthy living commitment. The challenge is to clock up a total of 24 hours worth of activity with your team between June and September.

If after reading the feedback this sounds like something your family would be interested in, the challenge is still ongoing so please sign up here, create your team page and please select ‘Mumsnet’ when asked where you heard about the challenge.

Here’s what Disney have to say: “This summer Disney invites you to take part in the 24 Hour Challenge, a FREE, virtual challenge inspired by Incredibles 2, that you can do anywhere, at any time. Every week teams will have a chance to win Incredible prizes, including 10 weekly prize bundles worth £200 each and, if you complete all 24 hours, a holiday to Disneyland Paris to experience and take part in the Magic Run weekend, from 21st – 23rd September.

Families can clock up time doing activities they already enjoy (like walking, swimming, playing in the park), use our “missions” (inspired by the characters from the Disney/Pixar film Incredibles 2) as ideas to get started, or try something new!”

Testers please answer the following questions:

  • How have you found the challenge so far?
  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team?
  • How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
  • Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?
  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge
  • What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?

Everyone who leaves feedback on the 24 Hour Challenge will be in with the chance of winning one of the following prizes:

  • Family ticket to the West End musical Aladdin + £200 for travel and accommodation**
  • Family ticket to Disney on Ice + £200 for travel and accommodation*
  • £100 voucher of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck

They emailed us what should be a clicky button to download our certificate, but it's not clicky. 😭

How have you found the challenge so far?
It's been fun. My daughter has enjoyed us doing more together as a family :) It has spurred her on a little more because it is the Incredibles
How many hours have you clocked up as a team?
We've done the slow and steady approach and have 15 hours clocked up. We have been doing a lot of activities that aren't challenges too
How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
I have to admit I thought it was just time that was used to do the onsite missions.. On top of these we've been learning to ride bikes, swimming, doing big family woodland walks (including Snickers the dog), playing football and practicing dance and gymnastics in the garden
Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?
All the time clocked up have been using the training plans and missions on the website. For one day, we did an entire day of missions! We have also been doing a mass amount of outdoor sporty activities. My daughter has started a lot of sport groups (Dance, Gymnastics, Football etc) so we have all been getting involved at home.
What has been your favourite thing about the challenge
Spending time as a family, doing something that costs nothing but has a lot of rewards and is helping to keep us fit and healthy. My daughter's favourite were the Frozone challenges and the Disney on Ice Fit to Dance Challenges
What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?
Just start a little bit at a time. At first you will be making time to do a little bit a day but the more you do, the more available you become. Me and my partner both work full time but by the end of it, we dropped other things that really weren't as important as we thought they were to spend the time with our daughter, doing these fun activities.

How have you found the challenge so far?
To be honest I keep forgetting about it - My sons are still at school and the last few weeks of term are manic so it isn't top of my list of priorities. Once they finish school we will have more time to think about it!

We do a lot of activities together so whilst I keep forgetting about logging activities we have probably done around 12 hours already

How have you found the challenge so far?

We have really enjoyed it so far, its made us think about time spent as a family and made us get out and be more active together. My daughter loved thinking of our team name and thinking of activities for us to do together. Also when thinking of things to get up to at the weekend rather than the cinema this has made us think to go for a bike ride or go trampolining.
How many hours have you clocked up as a team?

So far we have clocked up 12 hours but I think as soon as the school holidays start next week we can achieve more. I put a reminder on my phone each day to remember to add to the website.

How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
We have been swimming, bike rides, trampolining, nature walks in the park and we also set up obstacle courses in the garden and timed ourselves doing it and had to keep beating our time.

Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?
No, I didnt really feel like we needed too as my daughter had so many ideas.
What has been your favourite thing about the challenge?
Spending time as a whole with the family, being active together defiantly helps with bonding and creates memories. Getting away from the TV and ipad. It also made you think about how active you are in a day when you have to log the time spent which is an eye opener.

What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?
Just do it!! Its fun, the children enjoy thinking up your team name and thinking about different activities, it also helps with your mood and mental health getting out and about, it makes your children happy spending quality time with them and it also gives you a sense of achievement. Helps with a good cause so teaches your family and charity and other people less fortunate.
Will defiantly be carrying it on and hope to clock up the rest of the time in the summer holidays!!!

Ratbagratty · 16/07/2018 10:58

  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team? 0 forgot to to it

  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge I idea of it

How have you found the challenge so far?
Great! We’ve definitely done more as a family which has been fun but I rarely remember to log the times because the whole point of being active is that we aren’t on phones/tablets so can’t log at the time. And remembering afterwards is tricky.

  • How many hours have you clocked up as a team?
Over half way there but actually we’ve probably done more like 30 hours, just not logged Sad
  • How are you taking part?/What activities have you done together?
We’ve always been an active family but a lot of activity is done individually I.e running for adults and various sports for the kids. We always swim together once a week and have added in lots of walks thanks to the nice weather plus Wimbledon’s inspired us to start playing tennis as a family.
  • Have you been using the missions or training plans in Mission HQ?
No, I seem to have missed spotting these
  • What has been your favourite thing about the challenge
Enjoying extra time with the kids especially outdoors. And more time to chat about what’s going on in the world because activities such as walking and bike riding mean we can chat while we exercise - I’ve learnt that my 9 & 5 year olds have pretty strong views on political issues including Brexit and Donald Trump!
  • What advice would you give to other families who are thinking about completing the challenge?
Do it! It’s free, it’s easy and as tempting as it is to crash on the sofa after a hectic day, doing something as a family is a really lovely way to unwind.
