This activity is now closed

Disney are looking for as many families as possible to sign up to take part in their new 24 Hour Challenge as part of Disney’s Healthy living commitment. The challenge is to clock up a total of 24 hours worth of activity with your team between June and September.

Here is some more information from Disney: “This summer Disney invites you to take part in the 24 Hour Challenge, a FREE, virtual challenge inspired by Incredibles 2, that you can do anywhere, at any time. Every week teams will have a chance to win Incredible prizes, including 10 weekly prize bundles worth £200 each and, if you complete all 24 hours, a holiday to Disneyland Paris to experience and take part in the Magic Run weekend, from 21st – 23rd September.

Families can clock up time doing activities they already enjoy (like walking, swimming, playing in the park), use our “missions” (inspired by the characters from the Disney/Pixar film Incredibles 2) as ideas to get started, or try something new!”

Please follow these steps to sign up to the challenge:

  1. Sign up to the Disney 24 Hour Challenge, create your team page & please select 'Mumsnet' when asked where you heard about the Challenge.
  2. Once you have signed up via Disney, please fill in this 3 question survey
  3. Share on the thread below your ideas of how your team will complete the challenge

Everyone who completes these 3 steps will be in with the chance of winning one of the following prizes:

  • £100 voucher of their choice (from a list)
  • PLUS anyone who retweets the MNHQ tweet about this thread using the #Disney24HourChallenge will be in with the chance of winning a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list) & an Incredibles 2 bundle!

ALSO everyone who leaves feedback on the 24 Hour Challenge (this feedback thread will be sent round in an email towards the end of the challenge) will be in with the chance of winning one of the following prizes:

  • Family ticket to the West End musical Aladdin + £200 for travel and accommodation**
  • Family ticket to Disney on Ice + £200 for travel and accommodation*
  • £100 voucher of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck!
MNHQ

We play basketball and table tennis in the garden, as well as badminton and trampolining!
We will also do more swimming, scooting and running!

Great idea, like the others not keen on the fundraising part of it as we all have our own charities we like to give money to. It would have been a nice idea if they had had a variety of different charities from different areas eg. cancer, animals, heart etc so that you could choose. People would be more likely to want to raise money then. However if it is just a partnership with Unicef then it would have been an idea to have an option for yes I want to raise money or no I don't - it may put people off signing up. I think if I wasn't part of Mumsnet that would have stopped me signing up.

Otherwise great idea to get people active and we will probably be doing a lot of walking, cycling and swimming over the summer. My daughter does dancing most nights but I don't so that won't count, I have two left feet Grin

Signed up - it looks like a good motivator to keep us active this summer.

I was already planning to ensure we are more active this year as DS1 is less active than he used to be and prefers screens to exercise and DH is moaning that he had to buy bigger trousers than he normally wears when he went shopping at the weekend.

I'm planning lots of walking (which we do quite a bit anyway), we have NT membership and some fantastic properties and countryside nearby, cycling in our local area and swimming (as DS2 need to practise a lot over the summer to help him move on in his lessons). In addition, I will encourage walking more for local chores, e.g. walking into town rather than driving, as all those little journeys help with fitness.

@EllieMumsnet No worries, I managed to add the photo using my laptop, it just wouldn't work when adding from my phone. Thanks Smile

Signed up and completed the survey! I think we will be able to do it, we are quite active on weekends the DC end up climbing the walls if we don't get out of the house!

What a fun challenge. I think with swimming, dance lessons and walks to the park we will soon rack up the hours.

I have signed my family up. My girls are teens so it’s going to take some encouragement but planning on walking, swimming, trampoling and some indoor rock climbing too

Great! I just signed up. We love cycling and walking. Our new family hobby is kayaking.

We'll probably just try to incorporate a bit more activity into our daily routines. Hopefully make it fun for the kids to get involved more too.

We plan to walk and bike two things we love doing together. I also like some of the others don’t like the sponsorship element very much and would prefer to donate
Money rather than ask family and friends. My kids are really excited to start as they love being outdoors

DD would strain a ligament in her knee just after we sign up to this, wouldn't she? Hmm We were planning a trip to the park next weekend (she's away this), but I think we'll just log the time we take walking places until she's better.

BrieAndChilli · 14/06/2018 08:04

Shame individual exercise doesn’t count as we would probably clock that up between us in a couple of days !! DD does 3 hours of gymnastics squad training in an evening in one go, DH does gym classes and running every day.

Not sure how quickly will be able to get 24hrs in! More family walks, and trips to the park will hopefully help!

This looks like fun! I’ve signed up the whole family. We’ll be walking, swimming, horse riding, playing football and whatever else we can manage!

Love this! We’re all reasonably active as individuals in our family but we don’t do a huge amount together. At weekends we do family swimming for an hour and we try to go to the park. But to make the most of the light evenings we’re going to challenge ourselves to add in a bike ride each week on evenings after school/work and we’ve signed up to borrow my doggy and will do a family dog walk with someone else’s pet each week. Can’t wait to spend a bit more family time out in the fresh air and make the most of the summer!

I’ve signed us up, we have a long summer of walking around theme parks ahead of us. We normally clock up 12-17 miles of walking a day, especially in Disneyworld.

All signed up last night. This morning we are going swimming. We are going to step up our game by following the Highway Rat trail this weekend. Looking forward to getting active more as a family rather than individually.

Signed up! We’re going to do lots of trampolining, swimming, walking and scooting. Hopefully also a bit of roller-skiing if they have skis small enough for DS.

All signed up :)

I like things that motivate us to exercise as a family. We need a bit of extra motivation at the moment, as I've recently been diagnosed with cancer, and DS is being assessed for ASD.

DS likes to know the POINT of things, so dangling potential prizes in front of his nose should help...
