NOW CLOSED

We recently recruited 10 MNers & MN blog/vloggers to help create two new mattresses at the Dreams Bed Factory for sleep deprived parents and parents to be. They will be testing out the two mattresses they made for a month and will leave feedback on this thread of their first impressions and final verdict. Read below to see what they thought of them!

Non-testers, in order to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice, please answer the following question - if your bed could do anything in the world, what would it be? Whether it’s simply being able to make itself after use or more adventurous like serve you freshly brewed tea every morning, we’d love you to let your imagination run wild and think of what you wish your bed could do.

Here’s what Dreams have to say: “At Dreams, we understand the importance of a great night’s sleep. However, we also know that as a new, or soon to be, parent this can feel impossible. That’s why we’re so excited to be working with the Mumsnet community to develop a mattress specially designed to meet your needs and help you get the sleep you deserve.”

If you'd like to find out more about how we made the Mumsnet mattresses click here.

  • Please share a photo of your new mattress and tell us which one you chose and why?
  • Did you find the Dreams delivery team friendly and helpful?
  • What do you think of the look of the mattress?
  • What are your first impressions of the feel and comfort of the mattress?

Tester’s final review:

  • Overall how satisfied do you feel with the mattress?
  • Do you feel that the mattress has improved the general quality of your sleep? Please specify how it has improved your sleep.
  • What do you think of the quality and look of the mattress?
- Do you feel the mattress is comfortable and supportive? If yes, please give more details.
  • Would you recommend the mattress to a friend and/or family member?
  • What was the best thing you learnt whilst at the Dreams Bed Factory sleep panel day?

Thanks,

MNHQ

I wish my bed could magically cocoon me, shielding me from noise and sunlight. And also cushion me from the inevitable onslaught of bouncing DC.

CopperPan · 22/06/2018 13:39

Non tester.

I'd like my bed to magically send me to sleep within 5 minutes, instead of my frequent half hour or more of lying in bed trying different techniques to get to sleep.

Pitapotamus · 22/06/2018 14:48

If my bed could do anything at all it would create a magical forcefield at the press of a button that would repel all noise, light and other people from disturbing my sleep! It would also need to repel fire because I wouldn’t be able to hear the smoke alarm.

TammySwansonTwo · 22/06/2018 16:07

I’m in dire need of a new bed right now. If it could include a bean to cup coffee machine (with refrigerated milk frother, obviously) to dispense as soon as it hears my twins stirring, a nice gradual sunrise effect overheard to wake up gently, with automatically changing sheets and a TV projector on to the footboard, I’d be happy (although to be honest, if it doesn’t have springs that clack every time I move, that would be an improvement!)

daniel1996 · 22/06/2018 18:59

Non tester - My dream mattress would cool me down in summer, keep my feet warm in winter, let my tired body sink into it and fall into a deep peaceful sleep. If it could make itself and become self cleaning that would be a bonus too.

I’d love my bed to have a noise cancelling feature so whenever you climbed in it would be totally silent, no dogs barking, traffic or snoring...It would also have temperature and light levels controlled for optimum comfort. Getting in and under the self cleaning covers would feel like falling into a soft warm hug.
I’m really not asking for much am I?Grin

Amber0685 · 23/06/2018 07:49

Non tester - I would like a coffee machine so when I wake up I smell coffee and it is ready next to me.

Caillou · 23/06/2018 07:59

Non tester, if my bed could do anything, I would love one that sends the kids back to sleep without waking me up

mrsglowglow · 23/06/2018 10:04

I would love my bed to be self cooling so that it keeps me at the optimal temperature for a good night's sleep

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 23/06/2018 10:32

Non-tester. I'd like my bed to have a function that would allow me to replay my best dreams as many times as I wanted.

MakeTeaNotWar · 23/06/2018 12:56

Non-tester: if my bed could really do anything, I'd soundproof it somehow so I couldn't hear DH's snoring and sleeptalking. It would also change itself!

NambiBambi · 23/06/2018 15:21

Non-tester - I would like my dream bed to have an anti-snoring force field and a secret drawer that magically topped itself up with delicious, calorie-free chocolate and another drawer that would provide me with the perfect book for the mood I was in.

Muffinbutton · 23/06/2018 19:04

My bed would make me cosy and warm in the winter , and chilled and fresh in the summer.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 24/06/2018 14:12

My bed would have the powers to make me feel refreshed when I woke up in the morning

Chronic fatigue is a bitch, I don't need anything special just a bed that gives me what most people take for granted Sad

littleme96 · 24/06/2018 19:04

Non-tester:

My bed would have:

  • White noise piped through a speaker
  • An array of soothing scents coming out of the headboard at the touch of a button (lavender etc)
  • The ability to change it's own bedding, including washing and ironing the sheets and putting fresh ones back on
  • Temperature control mattress
  • Built in alarm clock
  • Storage underneath
GenericHamster · 24/06/2018 22:30

if your bed could do anything in the world, what would it be?

So boring, but change itself, definitely. One of those things I don't make time for often enough, but a clean bed is lovely.

del2929 · 25/06/2018 01:08

non tester- i think my ultimate bed dream would be that it puts clean sheets on itself. a girl can dream right. ...

Montydoo · 25/06/2018 10:53

Non-tester.
my ultimate bed would:-

  1. have a pop up television at the bottom.
  2. An anti-snoring feature for the other half.
  3. a built in fan on the headboard to keep me cool in summer.
  4. A heated foot area for winter.
  5. memory foam mattress.
  6. Large storage area for all those Christmas gifts I need to hide.
Byrdie · 25/06/2018 11:37

A bed that could do anything? All i want is a night of undisturbed sleep so this bed is going to have to put the kids back to bed when they wake up, probably have sex with my husband and magically empty my bladder without me actually peeing myself!

Chapman31 · 25/06/2018 14:11

Non tester-

A bed that does my make up in the morning so I can sleep in would be brilliant.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 25/06/2018 14:56

If my bed could do anything I love it to give me dreams that coukd change my life and others peoples. Ideas for novels and ways to make peoples lives easier. Withoit me worrying all the time. I would have the "It doesn't matter mattress." Smile

queenoftheschoolrun · 25/06/2018 15:51

Non-tester - I'd like a bed that kept its bedding clean and fresh so I didn't need to wash it - and obviously it would have to make itself after use as well.

littlemonkeyz · 25/06/2018 17:43

I'd love my bed to wash and dry my hair because I hate doing that. I'd love it to work like the bed in bedknobs and broomsticks, transporting me like a magic carpet to other beautiful lands and places. I would go for a dip in the pacific ocean and scale the heights of the Himalayas, all whilst 'sleeping' in my bed

GetKnitted · 25/06/2018 21:54

The 'dream' bed would transport me to a magical alternate reality, bedknobs and broomsticks style. I will have to stick with ordinary dreams won't I....

buckley1983 · 25/06/2018 22:27

Non-tester here!
I love getting into bed each night - that feel of getting into lovely cool, clean sheets is just the best!

To make it even better though - a self-cleaning facility would be a dream! Just imagine.. all those nights being woken by LO's leaking nappy or vomity cough all over the bed sheets - no more having to relocate while a full bed cleaning operation takes place - the flick of a switch & it's all done for you.

I'm thinking a hydraulic lift to lift the occupants up & away from the fluids while the sheets are changed, & then lowered gently back into a clean, cosy bed - perfect! :)
