NOW CLOSED

We recently recruited 10 MNers & MN blog/vloggers to help create two new mattresses at the Dreams Bed Factory for sleep deprived parents and parents to be. They will be testing out the two mattresses they made for a month and will leave feedback on this thread of their first impressions and final verdict. Read below to see what they thought of them!

Non-testers, in order to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice, please answer the following question - if your bed could do anything in the world, what would it be? Whether it’s simply being able to make itself after use or more adventurous like serve you freshly brewed tea every morning, we’d love you to let your imagination run wild and think of what you wish your bed could do.

Here’s what Dreams have to say: “At Dreams, we understand the importance of a great night’s sleep. However, we also know that as a new, or soon to be, parent this can feel impossible. That’s why we’re so excited to be working with the Mumsnet community to develop a mattress specially designed to meet your needs and help you get the sleep you deserve.”

If you'd like to find out more about how we made the Mumsnet mattresses click here.

Tester’s first impressions:

  • Please share a photo of your new mattress and tell us which one you chose and why?
  • Did you find the Dreams delivery team friendly and helpful?
  • What do you think of the look of the mattress?
  • What are your first impressions of the feel and comfort of the mattress?

Tester’s final review:

  • Overall how satisfied do you feel with the mattress?
  • Do you feel that the mattress has improved the general quality of your sleep? Please specify how it has improved your sleep.
  • What do you think of the quality and look of the mattress?
- Do you feel the mattress is comfortable and supportive? If yes, please give more details.
  • Would you recommend the mattress to a friend and/or family member?
  • What was the best thing you learnt whilst at the Dreams Bed Factory sleep panel day?

Thanks,

MNHQ

Non tester - would be nice if my bed could put up some kind of barrier to stop children trying to climb in during the night!

Gazelda · 20/06/2018 16:14

Non tester. I'd love my bed to launder the bed linen every day and make the bed up again.

CantStandMeow · 20/06/2018 18:19

Non tester here. If the bed could could arrange for the cool side of the pillow to stay cool and then change it's own sheets, that would be bloody marvellous.

Imgettingcheesefries · 20/06/2018 20:49

Non tester-
I'd love my bed to be like Bernard's watch (showing my age here) and stop time so I could sleep late every morning. Either that or change it's own sheets everyday

Georgiamh84 · 20/06/2018 21:05

My immediate thought on reading this was that I would love my bed to make me tea, but the original post covers this. Therefore my dream bed would have sides that could come up, to keep bouncing toddlers on the bed and avoid crashes/accidents

SusanWalker · 20/06/2018 21:13

Non tester - I would like my bed to automatically clean underneath and behind itself. That would save pulling it out. Actually it it could clean the whole room while it's at it i wouldn't complain.

OldHag1 · 20/06/2018 21:54

Non tester - if your bed could do anything in the world, what would it be? My bed would be a magical land of sleep where every hour of sleep felt as though you had slept for three. I would wake up fully refreshed and raring to go.

dragontwo · 20/06/2018 22:00

non tester - ooh I'd love a bed that could fly me wherever I want!! a magic bed. Failing that, something a bit more realistic... oooh give me a nice massage, warm itself up on a cold day before I get in, and play beautiful music to get me off to sleep..... zzzzzz

I'd like my bed to be able to stop time. To get into it each night, and wake the next day the same age. I'd be able to stay young, and with my children. I could enjoy their innocence for a bit longer, and savour the bits I miss from yesterday but was so tired I didn't notice. I'd want my bed to be big enough for us all to jump in. Me, and 4 kids, after our horrible divorce experience. To be warm and safe and comfy, with a soft duvet on top, letting us all rest as we watch a film or doze off. I'd like it to be waterproof as my one year old climbs in and wees on it. Usually I'm too tired to care and the sheets dry through the day so I'm not fussy. I'd like my bed to make me a cup of tea, 2 sugars and milky. Nobody can make milky tea as they think it's weird. But mostly, I would like my bed to do what nobody else does, when all the kids are asleep and the house is still, and be there with me, when I'm alone. To stop me being scared and worrying, and to reassure me it'll be there in the morning.
I know this is a lot to expect off a bed. But it is where I spend a lot of time, where I have my happy times with my children, and where I cry and worry alone. So it needs to be strong (-:

ButterflyOfFreedom · 20/06/2018 22:27

It would be fab to have a bed that changed its bedding regularly, flipped the mattress when needed, somehow allowed for lie ins, and had a cup of tea waiting for me when I awoke!

Treaclespongeandcustard · 20/06/2018 22:47

I used to wish that my bed would turn into a four poster bed, fly me to school privately and allow me to arrive having enjoyed an hour extra sleep, all cosy and fully dressed. I think I'd keep this the same but add childcare in too these days Grin

RippleEffects · 21/06/2018 07:28

Non tester.

My do anything bed would have temperate zones so it would thermally adjust to very gently cool me in hot weather and give off a gentle warmth in cooler weather.

crumble9 · 21/06/2018 11:41

Non tester-

I'd love for my bed to able to collect me from work! So I could crash as soon I finish, have a quick cosy nap on the way home, then I'd be refreshed to get on with house work!
/dinner etc instead of a stuffy, usually standing, train and lots of walking

hangabout · 21/06/2018 17:10

Non tester - I don't expect much... just a bed that can make itself, change it's own sheets regularly and make a lovely cup of tea in the morning.

MummyBtothree · 21/06/2018 17:35

Non-Tester = I would love our bed to have the option of making it even wider, with a section that you just pull out at one side (somehow!). We already have a king size bed but when the youngest DC decides to climb in, early in the morning we could do with some extra space!.

SillyMoomin · 21/06/2018 18:22

If my bed could do anything.... it would be to self-iron the bedding after I’ve made the bed each morning. Can you imagine??? Crisply ironed sheets EVERY SINGLE DAY

NeverTwerkNaked · 21/06/2018 19:43

I would love a bed that could fetch me things for times when I collapse into bed then realise I need a glass of water/ left my eye drops downstairs etc! hate having to drag myself back out of bed at that point!

DP would probably love me to have a bed that stopped me snoring Blush

kateandme · 21/06/2018 19:52

to re apply clean sheets as and when I ask.
to hav in built voice commanded music system
time travel of course.
for huggable arms to come out and hold me when I needed it.

rupert23 · 21/06/2018 19:57

i would like my bed to be comfy fresh smelling newly washed sheets every night. i would like to be able to sink into a deep undisturbed comfortable sleep undisturbed by children.

blueberry549 · 21/06/2018 20:07

Non-tester here. I would love a bed that could self-regulate temperature throughout the night. No more waking up too hot or with chilly toes! And of course able to change it's own sheets so I don't have to!

PashleyB · 21/06/2018 20:48

Non tester - a self organising bed that could wash and change the linen daily!

KarenCBC · 21/06/2018 21:18

Non tester - my bed would have magical compartments that appear when needed. One to keep my baby separate from me, when I bring him into bed at night, to make sure that he doesn’t head butt me or kick me in the head. Another to separate his brother when he comes in at 6 am and decides that’s when he finally tells me all about what happened at Nursery the day before!

lovemyflipflops · 22/06/2018 07:30

no tester - to be able to sway like the boat we were on this summer, and rocked me in to the deepest sleep I have had for years !

foxessocks · 22/06/2018 07:35

Non tester - I'd like it to have somewhere for my book and a cup of coffee and give me a good night's sleep - I don't ask for much tbh!

BaconCrispsGone · 22/06/2018 08:26

I would like my bed to automatically clear itself of toast crumbs after I've had breakfast in bed
