This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who have tested Carphone Warehouse’s new Energy Saver service, either by going in store or via their app (Energy Saver on iOS and Google Play).

Here’s what Carphone Warehouse has to say: “We’re famous for getting people a better mobile deal. And now we’re using our expertise to help you save on your energy bill. Switching your energy supplier may seem like a lot of work – but don’t worry, that’s what we’re here for.”

I was excited to try this out as I like to save on my bills. There was only one company that would have saved me money on a "switcher deal" but a quick Google search told me in the last few months it has been voted the worst energy company in the UK. The "more info" told me the rating was 4.7 but didn't say what out of (5 or 10 etc) making the information pointless and/or misleading

4. I would only recommend if it came up in conversation.

Found it really easy to use the steps were simple and laid out clearly. Results were easy to read and understand.

£126 for switching to the cheapest, however I checked reviews and opted for a supplier that gave £87 saving, but was all green energy and no exit fees and had really good reviews.

Good, I struggled with how to enter the usage when I started. I was trying to enter kwh and £ and it wasn't working but eventually I worked out just to enter Annual kwh based on my bill from my current supplier.

As a quick way to check suppliers yes possibly although I was surprised they didn't find me a better deal as due to change tariff with current supplier so must be on a very good deal currently.

Probably not. I'm a bit distrustful of things so obviously linked to a commercial business.

I used the app, found it very easy to use. Said I could save around £40 we year. Yes I would use it again although it is similar to other websites so not sure whether there is a need for it. I tend to use websites I can get cashback through.

Forgot to add, yes I would recommend as had no issues with the service.

Yes, I would recommend app as am shocked sometimes at how people don't try and save what can turn out to be a large sum of money that could be better spent elsewhere.

Incredibly simple: very quick, easy to use drop down menus. Straightforward questions. Loved how it then ranked the possible alternative providers in order of savings, gave me links to contact each, and an online advisor from Carphone Warehouse to speak to if necessary. Honestly, I don't think it could be simpler.

4. Would you recommend Carphone Warehouse Energy Saver to a friend or family member?
I would. I think the image of comparison websites is that it is the sort of thing you need to spend hours on, poring over details about your bills and providers and tariffs. This completely dispels that myth. Took about 30 seconds. If you know who provides your current energy, and what you currently pay per month/quarter, then the app does the rest. Really good example of how technology can help us make better informed decisions. Thanks!

I used the app on my iPad, it downloaded quickly and it was a much easier option than going in store.

very easy to use but I would prefer not to have to download an app because it takes up valuable app space, a web link would be better.

Yes because it was so easy to use, but I would still use it with another comparison service too just to make sure the results were the best I could achieve
