-What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
Normal food my baby had tried to ruin all his clothes with! Weatabix, banana, tomatoe based pasta sauce, butter.

  • What did you like most about the product?
It has a good long lasting smell
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?
I would say it did a better job at stain removal than my normal washing powder along but it still didn’t win against tomatoe based pasta sauce or weatabix so I would not be singing it’s praises too highly sadly.
  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?
It got more of the day to day stains out, it also definitely left my white washing brighter than normal. But it wasn’t amazing.
  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products
I have used both the coloured and whites powders previously my MiL bought me them to help when my last baby started weaning. I would probably keep some in the cupboard Incase if really bad stains but I don’t know if the stain removal is good enough to justify the additional chemicals on my skin?
Sparklezz · 23/01/2018 18:17

What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
The kids tends to be messy eaters and so leave stains from pasta sauce, fruit such as oranges and strawberries and raspberries but also the kids paint.

  • What did you like most about the product? I like the fact it's in liquid form as its easier to use and measure.
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?
I would recommend this to the family as its one of the stain removers that actually works for me.
  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal? I found my clothes brighter and stubborn stains easier to remove than before. I didn't have to pre-soak my clothes but add it to the stain and then a little more in the wash.
  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?
I have used Vanish before but in the powdered form but I prefer this version as it was easier to use.
Astro86 · 23/01/2018 18:22

What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
Tomato pasta based vomit (🤢), tomato, orange, pen

  • What did you like most about the product?
The smell was nice, not as chemically as other stain removers, and it didn’t make me sneeze!
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?
I would definitely recommend this. I was amazed at how effective it was when the baby vomited tomato pasta all over her white pyjamas and the cream carpet. One wash and the pyjamas were good as new (I honestly expected them to be for the bin!) and the carpet came up a treat too!
  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?
Usually I use a powder to spot treat, I mostly added this vanish in the main wash so less mess and no yucky drawer to clean after. I also would usually buy a specific carpet cleaner but this worked as well as, if not better, than my usual carpet stain treatment.
  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?
I often use Vanish powder if on offer, but I would now seriously consider switching to this liquid product in the future.

The only comment I had otherwise was that I found the shape of the lid/measuring cup meant it could be tricky to fill without tipping.

- What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
I tried the main testing in mud stains from my daughters first school clothes that were covered (before and after pics shown). And also a baked bean stain on my daughters white shirt, which came out with pre treatment.
- What did you like most about the product?
I liked the smell of the product, and I found it a lot easier and less harsh on clothes and skin to use.
- Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?
I’m not too sure, it was easier to use. But it didn’t get the mud stains out of my daughters clothes (I tried a pre-wash treatment, using it in the cycle and also soaking it and it’s faded but not gone). Also since I used it on the clothes my daughters had a reaction to it on her face and her hands (has never had a reaction to anything before).
- Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?
I’ve always used powder based stain removers (various brands) and usually they seem to work better but they are harder to apply.
- Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?
It’s not my first time using vanish but honestly i’ve Had better luck using other brands on my stains that vanish and didn’t think a lot of this product.

  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
I used it on the dogs towels (muddy towels and a couple towels that I used to mop up dog wee with) Dr Pepper which ds spilt on his shirt. Lots of food mess on clothing including spaghetti bolognaise.
  • What did you like most about the product?
I liked that it was a really thick gel so you could easily rub it into the stain, and for pre-treating you know it stays on the stained spot you put it on.
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?
I would and have recommended it to friends and family.i think it is a really good stain remover, of the stains I have treated with it, all of them so far have come out.
  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?
It seems to be a better stain remover than the brand I was using previously.
  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?
I have used vanish gold powder and vanish for whites powder stain remover before.but I don’t like the feel or the sound of the powder as I was pre-treating stains and rubbing the powder onto the fabric with the back end of the scoop. I much prefer the gel.

All in all it’s a great product and I have now found the stain remover I will use to treat all future stains with.Smile

MrsFigg · 23/01/2018 19:11

What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Chocolate cereal, ketchup,

  • What did you like most about the product?
The smell and that it worked! I used it on pre soak and on spot. Used a bit too much initially as it was thinner than I expected.
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

Yes for the pure fact it worked and smells nice.

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

Used the bar previously, this was much less messy and fiddly. Didn't feel like it would ruin the fabric for on spot treatment

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

No I like vanish, feel like I can trust it to work. Although I once used vanish white on grey trousers! That was a mistake Blush

Thanks for the test

Thank you Mumsnet for sending me some much needed stain remover!! We get through so much in this house and it didn't disappoint!

  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Grass, food including (but not limited to!) - chocolate, tomato based sauces, grease from cooking, sooo much mud! Pen, paint...and so much more! Grin

  • What did you like most about the product?

The smell and the fact that it actually works!

  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

Most definitely, Vanish is the only way to go. I've tried so many different types of stain removal and nothing works as well. I definitely think the liquid is better than the powder as it washes off well and is a lot less messy!

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

It hasn't changed it but when doing a kiddies wash I just chuck a cup of vanish in just in case there's a stain I've missed, and it works wonders!

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

No, I have always used the powder. I have tried other stain removal products and nothing works as well as Vanish.

Physicallyandmentallyeffed · 23/01/2018 19:32
  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Cherry juice on a white kids top, came out perfectly and I forgot to pretreat!

  • What did you like most about the product?

That it was non bio as my son has very sensitive skin

  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

I would recommend this product because it worked really well and it's great for kids clothes!

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

It seemed to work better than my previous stain remover

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

I usually use vanish for whites but will change to using this non bio version as it's more gentle and works so well.

  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

My little boy is 14 weeks old and he suffers from reflux so a lot of milk comes back up. Also he loves to do some massive poos which if I don't catch it fast can leak onto his sleepsuits. He's also just started teething and the amount of bubble blowing and spitting he is doing he's always wet. I have had trouble gettting all the milk out, also the yellow from the poo and having the clothes looking stain free and clean. The day I received the Vanish Noah decided to do a big poo on the way home from shopping so I had to wait till indoors to change him hence leakage. I used it to pre treat for 10 mins then put into the washing machine. I have thrown so many clothes away I wasn't holding out much hope but wow this was good!!! I couldn't see any yellow at all and as a Mum did I really inspect it to check lol. Completely clean, not a stain in sight so I can already see it will save me a lot of money which as a single Mum is much needed

  • What did you like most about the product?

How it actually worked as a lot of companies claim their product can do something but this one actually did what is said on the packaging. The scent is gorgeous too and I trust it's gentle on baby skin

  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

Yes without a doubt! My sister has a 6 month old who has just started baby led weaning and is making a huge mess at the moment. I know she would love to use this as she to has thrown a lot away

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

I tried all the usual baby washing products and some didn't get any of the stain out others just faded it so I did throw a lot away but this has actually removed all the poo stains. I also use it in wash without soaking or pre treating for less intense stains and it works just as well

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

I have used Vanish before but not for baby clothes and yes I am going to be a regular buyer and happy to tell other Mummies in my baby group and classes to buy this as they all have the same sort of issues with stains, leaks etc that I do. Vanish will have a lot of new customers for sure

lillyfer · 23/01/2018 19:45

What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
Food stains, mainly tomato and chocolate based

  • What did you like most about the product?
It was fine for my daughter sensitive skin and worked very well.
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?
Yes, it worked well and was easy to apply to the clothing.
  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?
I just washed and hoped for the best. This will keep their clothes looking great for longer.
  • Is this your first time using Vanish?
If so would you now consider buying more of their products? I have used another vanish gel several years ago. It wasn’t as effective as this one and I will be buying this again.
DollyLlama · 23/01/2018 19:46
  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Baby poo and chocolate

  • What did you like most about the product?
It’s smells nice, it’s easy to apply and worked really well
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

I would, it’s a lot less effort than using powder and brought a baby vest worth throwing away back to life very easily

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

I’ve used the vanish spray which was ok but didn’t work amazingly, the varnish powder which works really well but is a lot more effort. I’d say this definitely comes out on top for easy stain removal.

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

Not the first time, I regularly buy it, but I’ll certainly be buying this from now on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2018 19:51

Smelt lovely.

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

Used vanish bar before. Think that works better and easier to scrub stains with

Also used powder and used to add scoop to washing machine

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

No. Used before. Maybe.

Does tip out quite quickly. Sometimes too quick if rubbing on a stain

Yes and yes.

Hippobottymus · 23/01/2018 20:19

What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Poop, blood, oil stains

  • What did you like most about the product?

It was just really versatile, I really like the liquid form as it can be scrubbed into tough stains or just hung a capful in the wash.

  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

Yes, if they were looking for a non bio stain remover I’d definitely recommend this one as I’ve struggled to find a successful non-bio stain remover before this.

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

Before I’d scrub with washing up liquid, rinse and then wash but this is so much easier. Plus it’s good for the sensitive skin in our family.

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

No I have a few other vanish products I’ve used previously and I’ve always rated them.

chibsortig · 23/01/2018 20:22

  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Baby poo, toddler poo, tomato pasta sauce and chocolate.

  • What did you like most about the product?

Really easy to use by either adding straight to your washing, soaking or rubbing into the stain, it also smells good.

  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

I think this has been the most efficient stain remover I've used, I've always struggled at getting breastfed baby poo out of clothing and I tried both putting straight in the drum which did remove it mostly but I found it mostly effective with soaking first, therefore I would reccomend to family and friends.

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

I've used the vanish bar previously and have found this effective on stains, however I don't think the bar is very hygienic as you're reusing the same bar on lots of stains, whereas putting the liquid in each time doesn't have that problem. Makes my washing routine much easier.

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

Not my first time using Vanish, but certainly reinforces why we do use this brand.

Vonklump · 23/01/2018 20:42

What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Dribble, food stains and blood

  • What did you like most about the product?
It worked on a blood stain on a delicate top requiring a wool wash that I had mentally written off.
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

Yes and no. It worked but the recommendation is for 100 ml of product per wash. It wouldn't last ten washes, and that's without pre treatment.

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?
It got rid of stains.
  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products
I usually use the Vanish powder. I would use this product for more stubborn stains.
countingdown2gin · 23/01/2018 20:49
  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
My 7 month old is weaning so a lot of mushed up food and the odd bit of Baby poo
  • What did you like most about the product?
I used the option to put it in with my detergent. It made it really easy to use and worked well.
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

Yes. It got rid of the majority of stains and was easy to use.

  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

Honestly I wouldn’t bother with some of the clothes or I would pre-soak and even then that didn’t help. Now I can pop it in with my wash

  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

No, the carpet cleaner is in regular use in our house!

BumpGoesBumpety · 23/01/2018 20:58

What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?

Baby formula poo, snot from a three year old who will not use a tissue, tomato sauces and mud stains / salt from grit picked up when walking the dog.

What did you like most about the product?

The smell! And the fact that it actually worked.

Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?

Yes! As above it works very efficiently.

Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?

I did what I always do (chuck all washing in the machine, un-sorted and hope for the best). Mostly my technique involves leaving things in the sun and rewashing but actually with Vanish my technique worked (or rather Vanish does actually work on stains)

Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?

I bought Vanish years ago but as a Pre-treat and it wasn’t very effective. This is definitely better so I’d be tempted to try other products again, though it feels like the new product would do the job of the others.

DwangelaForever · 23/01/2018 21:01
  • What were some of the types of stains you used this product to remove?
Food! Specifically anything tomato based and curry based! DD is a bib hater!
  • What did you like most about the product?
Loved the smell and it wasn't harsh on my skin when I was applying it directly to stains and using it to soak
  • Would you recommend the product to a friend and/or family member? If so why?
It worked a treat on the stains in my house, in the past I never had any success with stain removals so this was great I would deffo recommend
  • Compared to what you did before, how did using Vanish impact your stain removal?
I've used a number of things and they've only just faded the stains, this actually removed them!
  • Is this your first time using Vanish? If so would you now consider buying more of their products?
I've never used vanish before but I am definitely going to look into their wider product range now!
