This is the feedback thread for the 15 Mumsnetters who tried two of AEG’s new washing machines and one of their tumble dryers!

There is also a question for non-testers - see bottom of the post!

Here’s what AEG has to say about each of the products:

PRO STEAM WASHING MACHINE
"Introducing the sharp shirt protector: Maintaining your professional look day to day should be effortless. Our ProSteam® Technology means that your shirts look sharp for longer by enabling you to reduce creases by up to one third. Cutting down on dry-cleaning and ironing means less wear on fibres. Keeping your clothes looking and feeling impeccable, every day.

SOFT WATER WASHING MACHINE
It’s the little black dress guardian: Imagine a washing machine that you can trust to keep your colours as vibrant and blacks as bold as the day you bought them. At last, there is no need to compromise performance for care. Because for the first time ever, you’ll achieve the thorough clean of a 60-degree wash at just 30 degrees. Maintaining the colour, shape and feel of every garment. Wash after wash. It’s more than a washing machine. It’s the guardian of your clothes.

ABSOLUTECARE TUMBLE DRYER
It’s the wool sweater guardian: Now you can tumble dry everything you wash. From the softest wool sweater to an everyday business shirt or ski jacket. Dryers with the AbsoluteCare® System have tailored programming to precisely control the movement and temperature of the drying cycle. Preventing shrinkage. Maintaining shape. Restoring waterproofing. Redefining tumble drying for every fabric in your wardrobe. Comparable with flat drying of wool.”

Non-tester: Definitely the quick 59 minute wash on our machine. It's so handy for school uniforms etc. Plus it a combi so we can dry it quckly as well.

pinkjjf27 · 24/11/2017 20:57

non tester my washing machine broke down 9 weeks ago and its been a night mare got let down by the shop and all sorts of stuff so i have been without a machine for 9 weeks and wont have one till next week so i miss everything . but the things i had to have was a big drum to wash duvets, a very quiet machine as i sometimes have to wash in the evenings, i wanted a compact machine a AAA rated a quick wash and a child lock and i found one but its been a nightmare with delivery

katslo4 · 24/11/2017 20:58

I am a non-tester and I could not live without the A59 wash on my Hoover washing machine. Its 59 mins and it's the only one I really use. Unless it's an absolute emergency then I use the quick wash.

The thing I couldn't live without is the high performance setting - I have no idea how it works so well but it really does remove the worst of stains! Very handy with a toddler!

robyn297 · 24/11/2017 22:12

The 1600 spin speed, I love that the clothes come out relatively dry, my last washing machine was a nightmare.

Pretenna · 24/11/2017 22:49

The Drain and Spin function - especially when it comes to the towels otherwise they take forever to dry!

AbsoluteCare dryer: T8DEC946R

  • What were your first impressions of the AEG product you tested?
Very slick, very big machine - fantastic size drum and lots of options!
  • What are your thoughts on the texture and softness of your clothes from using an AEG machine?
Wonderful, I was stunned and initially convinced that it was my softener but after reading other comments and further testing, I believe this machine is a marvel!
  • Have you noticed a difference in the drying results, did you experience even drying across the load?
The first use I actually kept adding extra drying time before realising the clothes were dry but just cool, not damp with heat like in my old machine. King size sheets dryed thoroughly and without excessive time.
  • While using the Absolute Care Tumble Dryer, did you dry your woolen or outdoor clothes with the specific programmes? Were you satisfied with the result?
Nervously I added wool items and there was no shrinkage, no bobbling, no problem!
  • How would you compare your experience with the previous tumble dryer you had?
This is a world ahead of the last dryer I had - my old dryer was noisy and took forever to half dry anything, as I added hours to anything that needed to be dried rather than finished off. Having options for each type of material gives much more confidence than the old hot, warm or cool options and they actually work.
  • On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being “very likely”, how likely are you to recommend your AEG appliance to a friend?
10, I think it's great!
  • Do you find the machine user-friendly? Is it quiet and easy to use?
For the first time ever, I read the manual before using an appliance - there were too many options to risk just pressing on. It isn't as complicated as it looks! It is very quiet and the time remaining is a really helpful feature.
  • How would you compare the energy-efficiency of this machine to your previous machine?
I don't have an energy monitor but the ECO option looks good and the time that it takes to dry means it is on far less per programme than my old machine. It is so good, I am using it more but that is by choice not necessity!

Overall, I was thrilled to get the opportunity to try this machine and am a complete convert - it is fantastic! Now I just have to resist the washing machine that other posters rave about!
