Who did you try the sun cream on? My 2 boys aged 3 and 5
Where did you go on holiday? After our holiday to Portugal had to be postponed we went to the Lakes instead, it was hotter than mainland Europe while we were there!
How confident were you that this product provided the best sun protection for your child? I was a little wary at first and applied it more often than probably necessary, but eventually trusted it for over 4 hours and it was great!
What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product? Ease of application, how it affects my boys' dry eczema-prone skin, how long/how much protection it gives, and price!
What did you think of the ease of application and the fragrance of the lotion? Rubbed in easily, even when boys were doing their best octopus impressions. Fragrance was inoffensive although I'd prefer no scent at all.
Would you buy this sun protection again? Why? Yes, definitely. It's been added to the very small list of sunscreens that I trust, that are easy to apply and that don't trigger an eczema flare-up in either boy.

Who did you try the sun cream on? Where did you go on holiday?

  • used this on my nine year old son in Italy in August, he has an intense dislike of any sun cream and it is normally like trying to nail jelly to the ceiling trying to get anything on his skin!

How confident were you that this product provided the best sun protection for your child?

  • his skin was well protected and no sign of redness at all

What is important to you when choosing a sun protection product?

  • duration of protection, ease of application

What did you think of the ease of application and the fragrance of the lotion?

  • it was very easily applied. Trying to persuade him to sit still while I do sun lotion is normally like wrestling an octopus but as this went on easily and rubbed in quickly I was able to do it before the novelty of sitting still had gone!!

Would you buy this sun protection again? Why?
-yes, I'd buy it. Did everything I needed it too and protected my PFB in and out of the water on a very hot and sunny holiday :-)

We held an impromptu paddling pool party when having a friends get together. The day was just getting hotter and hotter and the kids from 2 to 8 years were getting more and more fed up. Long story short my friend put up and filled the pool and I popped home to get suncream and spare hats. The hot day took us all by surprise. We coated all the kids with the suncream and I used it too. I'm very fair skinned and burn easily. By the time we were all covered there wasn't much left so we really needed it to work.
We needn't have worried none of the kids showed any signs of burning and they were in and out of the water for about 41/2 hours using water guns and sprays etc.
I'd feel very confident to use this again it makes things much easier when you can forget about needing to apply every hour or so. The only thing I will say is that we didn't towel down the kids so none of the cream was wiped off.
The cream is also perfect for me I didn't colour at all and I would feel very confident when using this on holiday both at home and abroad.
I like the fact that it's kind to the skin. It's no use having sun-care if it irritates the skin. I love the way it just rubbed in easily and had a pleasant but not strong fragrance.
I'm going on holiday at Christmas and this suncream will be the first thing in the suitcase. I can be confident that it will keep our skin safe and it won't be a major problem if we leave the cream in the room instead of taking it with us.
One final thing. It did seem to stain a little so would perhaps use another product if wearing something that I really don't want to spoil. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I used this on my 4 year old daughter, sadly arrived too late for my holiday abroad but have since used it for sunny days in the U.K. Sadly no opportunity to test it's ability when she was in water.
I found the cream easy to apply although quite thick, my daughter likes to be independent and put it on herself so found that she had a little trouble with this as it was a little thick.
I have always swung toward Soltan as a brand when choosing sun cream because it is a good quality product and this sun cream is a good fit with the brand. It smells nice, protected my daughter who didn't burn although she has a nice tan line. It was moisturising as well as protective and I would definitely buy it again.
For me the most important thing when buying a sun cream is one that is going to protect my daughter in and out of the water and is easy to apply.

I used this on my 8 year old foster son in Turkey. It was really good and really did last for six hours. It wasn't greasy But quite thick. I would definitely use again but would prefer it if it was in spray form

My suncream was use on my 4 year old daughter while on holiday in Tenerife. I applied it at least 3 times a day as we were out and about and swimming. The protection was very efficient. My daughter has olive skin and the cream sat well on her skin to keep it moisturised and protected through the day. When choosing a suncream the level of protection and the kindness to the skin also. Irritation free. The suncream is very easy to apply with an agreable fragrance and no overpowering at all. I will most definitely stick to this brand. I love the design of the bottle as it closes and open quite easily, very easily but most importantly the level of protection it provided to her skin. Will surely recommend it to any parents.

An absolutely trustworthy and dependable product! Smile Even though it's for kids, the whole family can use it as it is great for sensitive skin I believe which my husband suffers from! Easter Smile

We enjoyed a German holiday and Soltan was our go to product especially in the port city of Hamburg when we cruised along the River Elbe enjoying the sights at the top deck without having to worry about getting sunburned from the glorious sunshine we enjoyed there! This is so important and what led to this confidence was trying the product when we went on a day out to Hyde Park to meet friends and came back with the same skin color as we had left with Wink

The mild fragrance and non-sticky and smooth texture of the lotion helps to apply and enjoy the product further with hardly any residue or greasy after-feeling. And a little bit goes a long way as it is smooth and creamy.Halo

I would look for smaller versions of this product so can travel with conveniently as had to transfer it into my travel safe bottles when we went to Germany.

A highly recommended product from me Star and will be looking out for it once we go through this bottle Smile

Thank you Mumsnet Team for introducing such a wonderful and useful product to us Flowers and hope to be a part of future exciting campaigns!! Glitterball

I used this sun cream on my 3 children aged 12 8 and 7 on our holiday.
I found the cream very thick but easy to apply and the scent was lovely. As it was thick this gave me a huge amount of confidence in the product and I trusted that it would protect my children's skin. My daughter is on a medication that makes her sensitive to uv rays and I always look for a high spf but something that won't irritate her skin and this was exactly what i was looking for and it didn't irritate her skin condition and protected for the whole time she was in the sun.
I thought this product was quite moisturizing at the same time and I really liked that
I will definitely be repurchasing this and I have recommended this to several of my friends already who have children which range in age from 6 months to 13.
An excellent product

We were in Spain where it was an average of 35 degrees everyday, so I was delighted to test this sun cream. The cream was used on my children ages 9 and 7 and I used it for myself one day.
While this product preformed well and protected all of us from being burnt, I found the cream to be extremely thick- paint like and would not totally rub in, no matter hard we tried- it would not absorb! The fragrance was non descriptive. In addition, I put on a t- shirt after being in the sun for an hour ( after putting this product on) and it left brown stains on the T- shirt which after 5 washes have been unable to remove. However- the product did the job, it was waterproof which is a huge bonus and my kids are in and out of the water and has 5 stars for uva protection which is something I look for. Definitely a conscientious product but not one that I will be purchasing again due to the lack of absorption.

I used this sunscreen on my 3.5 year old daughter. My 14 year old daughter also used it on her face, as she is prone to burning under her eyes. We went on holiday to Cyprus.

I am very confident in this product. Neither of my children burnt or became red using it and both were exposed to many hours in the sun and spent lots of time in the pool.

When choosing a sun care product for my children, I always choose the highest possible factor and look for 5 star UVA rating. This sunscreen had both.

I found it was easy to apply and had a pleasant, but not overpowering fragrance. My 3 year old is very sensitive to smells and had no problem with this.

Yes. I definitely would buy this again. The extended protection made for a less stressful day - we all know how much children hate getting out of the pool. I was confident in its effectiveness and felt I was providing the best sun protection possible for my children.

lalamcbride · 18/09/2017 07:45

I tired this while on holiday, and I was confident that it did provide sun protection. It was easy to apply, and it had a pleasant smell. It also lasted a long time which was great. I would buy this product again.
