Non Tester Here!

When my son had just started talking, he was sat in his pushchair in a busy cafe when he shouted "my daddy's got a big big willy"!! It was mortifying but hilarious, especially when an 80 year old lady at the next table winked at me as if to say "lucky girl". I could have died!

Diamondsandpears · 12/09/2017 09:53

Non tester here. Calling "help! Help!" from the car seat as you open the car door at the shops was amusing even if it did draw a few concerned glances from passers by.

CybexCloudTester · 12/09/2017 16:52

We were thrilled to receive the Cybex Cloud car seat yesterday to test. I was keen to try this product in particular as our car journeys have been torturous for baby ds and by extension, us, for several months now. As soon as he is popped into his current car seat he becomes very distressed and is regularly inconsolable. Living in a rural area, we depend on the car a lot. DS's aversion to travelling by car has impacted our ability to visit friends, relatives and tbh has made me feel a bit isolated at times. We have tried everything we can possibly think of, with limited success. It wasn't financially viable for us to try a new car seat, it's not like you can just return it if it doesn't work. Scouring the Internet for similarly afflicted babies/families, I'd read that some had had more success with the Cybex Cloud. So when this chance came, I was uber keen to try it out and see if ds gets on better with the Cloud.

We were really pleased to see that we had been sent the Cloud in Autumn Gold, a fabulous colour! The fabric feels luxurious and the seat looks incredibly comfortable.
I am excited about the sun visor, which seems to come down much further and will protect ds's eyes from the Autumnal sun. First impressions are very positive, I sat ds in the seat and he looked very comfortable! The instructions are clear and easy to understand thus far. We haven't been out and about today in the car but will do so tomorrow, with our fingers tightly crossed that DS likes his new seat as much as we do!

Non-tester. DD was 2 and I was wheeling her to the shops. She looked the picture of innocence in a pink summer dress, pink and white sun hat and pretty socks and sandals. We walked past a garden wall on which four teenage boys were sitting chatting waiting for a bus. As we went past DD gave them a royal wave and a cheery "Hi guys!" - they almost fell off the wall laughing. I have no idea where she picked the phrase up from.

VilootShesCute · 12/09/2017 21:21

Non tester. When dd was younger we were out and she was in her pushchair which she hated. Cue the shouting when she saw older toddlers running free in park, "MUMMY STOP TYING ME DOWN IN THIS THING!" It was embarrassing at the time but I would laugh if someone else's child shouted that now.

TorNayDoh · 15/09/2017 11:06

Non-tester, DS used to yell at me to "Go faster! Faster!" when I was pushing him in the pushchair. Should've just bitten the bullet and bought one of the jogging pushchairs really...

FizzySmiles · 15/09/2017 14:57

My sister convinced my LO that chocolate was also called red bull (energy drink). Whilst pushing him around the shop he was literally begging out loud for Red bull 😂 ...oh the looks 😣

I can now look back and laugh but it was certainly not funny at the time!

Non tester - my one year old growls at any animal he sees (he thinks all animal noises are growls at the moment. he's trying to be friendly!)

Tester giving my feedback after testing the product for a few weeks Smile

Which product did you test and what did you think of it overall?
I tested the Yema baby carrier; overall I thought it was a stylish, comfortable way to wear my baby when out and about.

How old is your child? What sort of testing did you do?
My son is 6 months old, and loves to be carried. However, as he gets older and heavier, it has become more and more difficult to carry him around comfortably! I tested the Yema when out for long walks, and short hops into the city.

What did you think of the design? What features stood out to you?
The design was simple and stylish - I was sent the Denim fabric to test, which was quite a subtle navy colour; I could therefore wear the carrier with a range of colours. The carrier itself is semi-structured - there is a comfy belt which goes round the waist and clips securely, and there are long jersey ties which are used to wrap the baby securely to your body.

What about the functionality - how did it meet your needs as a parent?
The carrier can be worn three ways - the parent facing and hip mode were my favourites. Unlike a previous tester, I actually found the back carry position quite difficult to manage alone, and required the help of my husband to get my son in a secure and comfortable position on my back. There is a lovely soft jersey sun cover which I used when out in the sun for walks - I have attached a picture of this (with a comfy, sleeping baby underneath!).

Did you partner (if applicable) or a friend use it? If so, what did they think?
My husband tried the carrier and found it comfortable; since only the waist belt needs to be adjusted, there is almost no faff when changing between users - this is not the case with my other carrier, which has a number of buckles and straps which are very difficult to get 'just right', and I'm therefore reluctant to allow my (much taller) husband to use it!

How likely are you to recommend the product you tested to a friend or family member?
I would be very happy to recommend this product to a friend or family member; I found the carrier very comfortable to wear, and my son seemed to enjoy being in it too. The design of the carrier allowed airflow even in temperatures above 30 degrees centigrade, which kept him lovely and cool.

Any other comments?
The only disadvantage I found with the carrier is that the ties are quite long and it can take a few minutes to get everything unraveled when putting on the carrier - I got a bit flustered on the plane when I was trying to put it on in very limited space. However, I feel that the benefits of the semi-structured carrier far outweigh this slight drawback, and so it wouldn't put me off purchasing or recommending the carrier in future.

wow - this is a unique product!

Non-tester - my son at about 9 months old used to climb out the buggy and 'surf' standing up on it - it was terrifying and he'd do it so quickly before i noticed.

I had to buy a load of sandwich bag clips to help secure the straps better to stop him climbing out.

LollyCake · 20/09/2017 10:27

Tester here. I was sent the Cybex Cloud Q car seat.

I wanted to try this car seat as my son was born 2 months premature and was still very tiny when he came home from hospital. I was forever worrying about his position and breathing in our current car seat as it just wasn't designed for such small babies. I had previously used it for my older son who was also premature, and I was never happy with it then either.

The Cloud Q looks really plush and comfortable and I love the extra inserts. The head cushions look great compared to our old seat and I feel confident they will keep my son's head in the correct position.
The sun shade is a great feature and it comes down nice and low.
It is quite a heavy seat, although I don't like lugging the seat around on its own. I look forward to trying it on my pushchair frame to use as a travel system.
I was sent the Manhatten Grey colour which is very stylish.

TESTER

Which product did you test and what did you think of it overall? We had a Mios lightweight pram. I absolutely loved it. It's so nimble and lightweight yet sturdy at the same time.

How old is your child? What sort of testing did you do? DD is 19 months old. She happily climbs into it herself and when I release the straps she can jump out easily (and run off!). I wanted something I could get out and about with and this pram has risen to it all! Car trips to Legoland and Chessington World of Adventure; around the Tate Modern; riding the Underground and lots of London Buses, and plenty walks across all terrain from local parks to canals and fields. The only one it really struggled with was Brighton beach (stones) but it's not meant to be an off-roader and it's light enough to pick up yourself as I've done many times on stairs.

What did you think of the design? What features stood out to you? I really liked the hood - it has a built in mesh viewing flap when fully extended which makes it breezy and means I can see DD. This is an expensive extra with the likes of a Bugaboo Bee! I also loved the fact that the seat was quite large - there's still plenty of room to grow whereas the seat-back on a Maclaren is much shorter and when she's reclined for a nap my nappy bag touches her head if I'm not careful. The Mios also doesn't tip when it's empty! The suspension is really good too making it easy to push one handed over grass. At first I thought the seat was very high off the ground and that there was a lot of wasted space underneath it as the basket is not particularly wide. However, as I've gotten used to it the design makes perfect sense, especially when folded up. DD likes the elevated position as she's quite nosy! She's also a hot person, and the mesh seat has been really cool over the summer for her. It's a shame the Mios arrived just after our holiday as I bet it would have been great in the Mediterranean sunshine. The fold is compact and secure enough that I would have no problems taking it onto an aeroplane in the future.

What about the functionality - how did it meet your needs as a parent? One handed everything (apart from footrest adjustment) has made a huge difference. DD is at the age where she often wants to run walk when we're out so being able to hold her hand and push the pram is brilliant. I successfully managed to hold her hand and fold the entire thing whilst on a bus when a wheelchair user needed to get on. Because you can half fold it to a wheeled position I could then easily move it to another part of the bus without letting go or having to empty the basket. It's obviously really nice to sleep in - DD has napped for up to 2 hours in it (same as she would in her cot) and has had no problems with it at all. The recline is smooth and easy to use in both directions, and the adjustable footrest makes it look a lot more comfortable with her feet up than just dangling off.

Did you partner (if applicable) or a friend use it? If so, what did they think? DH was skeptical at first and wasn't hugely keen on the design, but soon warmed to it. By the end of the trial the only thing he didn't like was that it's quite hard to do wheelies in Hmm. My Mum found it really easy to push and the straps very simple to use (unlike the time she was unable to release DD from the Maclaren due to weak hands)

How likely are you to recommend the product you tested to a friend or family member? Definitely. I'd never really considered Cybex as a brand before, but this pram has changed my mind completely as it really does feel like a premium product. Worth every penny.

Any other comments? Thank You for letting us test the Mios - we will continue to use it for a long time yet.

Tester with full feedback here.

  • Which product did you test and what did you think of it overall?

We have been testing the fabulous Cybex Cloud car seat for ten days now, and it gets a big thumbs up from us. I described our car journey woes in my previous post, but I’m delighted to report that DS seems much more comfortable in this car seat, and a much happier passenger. I can’t put into words just how much of a huge relief this is to dh and I. We are impressed with the safety features, comfort, style and functional aspects of this seat, and would definitely recommend it to others.

  • How old is your child? What sort of testing did you do?
Ds is 6 months old. We have been on many short journeys and quite a few longer journeys of approximately an hour or more. We have transferred him into the house and other destinations (e.g. whilst asleep) and have had the opportunity to use the lie flat feature. We purchased the isofix base (Cybex Q Fix) and have used the seat with this and also used the seat belt to fasten it in the car. We have tried out the features such as Linear Side Impact Protection system, lie flat, etc.
  • What did you think of the design? What features stood out to you?
We are impressed with the design, the car seat looks and feels good. The materials feel luxurious. The adjustable headrest is something not present in our previous car seat, and DS looked so much more comfortable with this. He has very rarely fallen asleep in the car in recent months but has done so on approximately 75% of our journeys in the Cybex Cloud, and remained asleep once we have arrived. This is a big change for us! The lie flat feature is brilliant – you can use a lever to recline the seat into a lie flat position when you are out of the car, handy when your baby has fallen asleep when you’ve arrived at your destination but you don’t want to leave them sitting at an angle for too long. We didn’t use the seat as part of a travel system but you can do so with the seat reclined to create a carry cot- Which would be great for a newborn.

Having had a near miss side impact accident when ds was a tiny baby, we were pleased to learn that the Cybex Cloud has Linear Side Impact Protection, meaning there is greater protection in such accidents. This was easy to activate, just pressing a button and pulling out a small lever towards the closest door to the seat. It has quickly become part of the routine in putting the car seat in the car.

The sun shade comes down really quite far and offers great protection for Ds's eyes and face. When not in use it easily slides back into position.

  • What about the functionality - how did it meet your needs as a parent?
This car seat kept our baby safe and appeared to be much more comfortable for him than our previous (highly recommended and high quality) seat – meeting the main functions we care about most. The instructions were easy to follow and we were able to operate it as described without problem. It is quite heavy with ds in it but no more so than our previous seat – that’s par for the course I think. Loved being able to recline the seat when ds was asleep in it. The harness included comfortable strap covers and was easy to adjust.
  • Did you partner (if applicable) or a friend use it? If so, what did they think?
DH has been very impressed with the seat, he thinks it looks great and is impressed with the safety features. He has already said he would like to purchase a Cybex car seat once ds has outgrown this one.
  • How likely are you to recommend the product you tested to a friend or family member?
Highly likely. In fact we have already done so!
  • Any other comments?

Thank you so much for the opportunity to try out the product, in ten days we have noticed a massive positive difference in ds during car journeys- he is so much happier and more comfortable. It’s reassuring to know he’s very safe in it too.

Please see next post for photos of the car seat in use.
