Tester:

Stage 2, the review (!)

We tested the MIOs, and overall, its a great pram.

Our daughter is 15 months old, and we've been out and about in a city environment - I walk quite a lot, so she comes too. Lots of in and out of the car boot, up and down kerbs and bus journeys.

The design reminded me of an upmarket bugaboo bee - very maneuverable, neat in size, but a sleeker design - very chic, clean lines etc. The features all look quite premium - (p)leather handlebar cover, chrome chassis etc.

There are a number of clever design features. The hood can be unzipped to go further over the child if windy/sunny etc, with a window to watch them.
The raincover fits perfectly, and snugly, so no blowing off or letting drips in.
The smooth recline is excellent for sleepy babes.
Very easy steering, even one handed.
The fold mechanism is brilliant - so easy and so smooth. A genuine one hand fold (i deliberately tried it with a baby on my hip - easy!)
All of the functions, adjustments are pretty intuitive, and work the way you would expect them to, with obvious buttons etc (although I am in my fifth year of pram use, so it could just be that I know what to look for...)

A few gripes would be that it doesn't really fold when the seat is parent facing - it goes smaller, but not all the way.
The foot rest needs readjusted every time you fold it, which is irritating.
The hood makes it harder to operate the recline mechanism - needs a few mms trimmed off.
The basket is tiny - once the raincover is in it, that's pretty much it.

My mum was also impressed with it, particularly it's light weight.

I would definitely recommend it, though I imagine the rrp is probably pretty high, but worth it I think.

Other comments:
I like that this came with car seat adapters, as it usually costs you £30 or so to add them.

Non-tester. My ds said out very loud in Asda once, "Mum we've been out ages, your boobs must be real sore!"

Pipstarz41 · 30/08/2017 21:25

Non-tester. My oldest daughter sang all the time in the pram and made a running commentary on everything we were doing/ what she could see. Not so good when she starts commenting on other people!

GruffaloPants · 30/08/2017 21:30

Still getting over not being picked SadSadSadGrin

My older daughter was a bit of a one for grabbing whatever she wanted in her pram. Once I found a half eaten banana in the pram, don't know where it came from..

Beach11 · 30/08/2017 22:30

Non tester- my ds is going through a stage of wanting what ever we have & DH tells him it's adult drink etc which seems to work. When in the supermarket near the wine aisle DS points and shouts 'mummy adult drink!'
I was waiting for the ground to swallow me up

claza93 · 31/08/2017 07:54

Non tester - I am never quite sure what is going to come out of DD no 3's mouth! She says everything as it is. My boy loves to comment on where we are going - he loves to tell us to keep going! We had this the whole way to Cornwall from Coventry! Made us smile :)

InvisibleKittenAttack · 31/08/2017 07:55

Oh this has brought back memories of dc1 learning the word "wobble". He would shout "wobble wobble!" At random people in the street. He did seem to have a knack of being very loud just as there was someone who was rather larger in the vicinity. It's a very hard thing to try and style out...

kateandme · 31/08/2017 09:02

taxi pulled up and passenger got in.then next bus came and passengers got on....she said "so mummy are you my bus driver or taxi driver.few second later giggling. I ask whats so funny..."no no your just (inserts her name )"own driver"

jacqui5366 · 31/08/2017 10:56

I took my little one to a petting zoo and kept him in a stroller, we were in the enclosure with chickens and chicks - he started shouting @uck @uck @uck (meaning to should cluck cluck cluck) - what the other mums must have thought of his upbringing. Needless to say we went to see the baa lambs next.

Non tester. My 1 yr old DD managed to nick some bottle teats off the shelves whilst we were in Boots Blush. Luckily the staff saw the funny side of it.

Was walking across Wimbledon Common with 2 year old in her buggy...she pointed at a stranger and began shouting "daddy, daddy!!!". She very quickly became hysterical and was screaming and crying that her "daddy" (poor, unsuspecting stranger on the common) was ignoring her and walking away. He looked absolutely nothing like her father and he was completely mortified. I had to get her out the pushchair for a cuddle and explain that it wasn't daddy - she was doing that heartbreaking sniffing and funny breathing post crying all the way home!

My dad used to "drive" everywhere in her pushchair, all vrooming noises everywhere we went. Everywhere. Always.
The cuteness and charm of this quickly wore off Grin

ButterflyOfFreedom · 01/09/2017 20:56

Often when my DD is in her car seat she asks if she can drive! I always tell her when she's old enough she can so now she says 'when my big I'll drive' to anyone who will listen!

Tanfastic · 02/09/2017 02:02

Non-tester.

I remember when my son was small and I was wheeling him round town and to keep him quiet every now and again I'd pass him a chocolate raisin to eat. It was definitely working.

When we got to the car and I got him out of the pushchair I found a pile of raisins in the seat.

He'd just sucked the chocolate off 😂

Mummychoochoo3 · 02/09/2017 06:55

When my child grabs everything within reach, whilst in her pushchair! I don't go anywhere near plates and cups in shops

DD used to grab things as I pushed her out and about in the buggy. At one stage she loved to pick leaves and flowers from hedges and plants and the first I knew of it was a stranger bemusedly asking if I knew my daughter was happily munching on a leaf or flower!

Anj123 · 02/09/2017 17:04

When my daughter was a toddler, we had just parked the car in a supermarket car park on a hot summer day. When I looked at her in the back seat, she had stripped off all her clothes and was sitting in the car seat completely naked and just announced that she was feeling hot! How great is must to be to have no inhibitions?!! I couldn't stop laughing!

DC has currently started to say Moo a lot. He already calls all women Mumma, but now that has evolved into Moo. What can I say - he really likes cows but I'm not sure all the mummies he meets are happy being called Moo!

My DD used to count cars but "ONE CAR" sounded a lot like "WANKER"!! eek.

When he was in his pushchair we went past a lady in a wheelchair and he said very loudly that she was too big to be in a buggy - they're not for grownups!

glenka · 03/09/2017 12:27

Non - tester. Ours sings a rude song she heard , she sings it very loudly.

AR2012 · 03/09/2017 12:28

Non Tester:

My Son mistakenly calling a squirrel a rat. When we were taking a walk in the park. Quite amusing as they are technically rodents.

AngelwingsPetlamb · 03/09/2017 12:28

My DS spotted a man with a patch over his eye when we popped down to the local shops and called out loudly ' mummy there's a pirate over there'. Embarrassing but an easy mistake for a child to make.

Lorraine1905 · 03/09/2017 12:33

When my son was tiny, whenever we walked past young girls with their midriffs on show in cropped tops or the like, he would always reach out and tickle their tummies. Luckily they just laughed Blush He's 18 now and has thankfully grown out of that little habit haha!
