We have been asked by Monqi, to find 20 MNers with a child aged 7-11 who hasn’t owned a mobile phone before, to test out their new smart phone, specifically developed for children. All parents also need to have their own smartphone, - to manage what their child does on their phone.

Monqi is a brand new mobile phone for kids which will launch on October 1st.

Here’s what Monqi had to say: “When should I buy my child a mobile phone? How do I keep them safe online? What about the costs? And what games are appropriate? Monqi is the revolutionary new mobile for kids which addresses parental concerns while giving children a phone they want. Monqi, Stay Close.”

If selected to take part, your child will get an Android smartphone with games, messaging, internet and Apps.

You will be sent the smartphone along with an active SIM card that includes the following - valid for one month from activation: 150 mins calls, 5000 texts and 1GB data. (note: if there is any “suspect” use eg international Calls, Premium Rate Calls etc, the SIM may get barred).

If selected, you and your child will need to test out the smartphone for 2 weeks making use of all of its features. Testers will have help and support from the mobile network during this time if needed.

Once the trial is over the SIM will be cancelled, but you will be able to keep the smartphone.

Selected testers will be required to leave feedback on a thread as well as completing a short survey. All who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list). This test will take place in September so please only apply if you’re around during this month and are able to give feedback then.

If you’d like to take part, please add your details here
We will be in touch with those selected.

Thanks and good luck!

Well, the fact that they've taken notice of feedback about the conditions of the product test has certainly sent the company up somewhat in my estimations, I've now signed up too as a result Smile it gives peace of mind in case of damage/loss during the trial, but also avoids a big bill or upset child at the end of the trial. I'd be happy to give feedback if I know it will be taken notice of Smile

My daughter would love to test this. She's been bugging me for a phone, as her and friends all want one and I'm concerned that she's too young to understand the dangers (at 8). This would be a great compromise and would happily buy your SIM if I have confidence it does what it says.

Sparklyglitter · 18/08/2017 06:46

I'm confused! It says you get to keep the phone...just not the SIM - Am I missing something? Everyone keeps saying it's not a good deal as you don't get to keep the phone?!?

Scoleah · 18/08/2017 08:34

When the post was First posted sparkly it said the phone was a 2 week trial & had to send it back after testing. (Which didn't seem like a good idea to give a 7-11 a phone to try and then take it away) but Monqi have now changed this so whoever the lucky testers are get to keep the Device; bt the sim that's provided will be cancelled afterwards , so can use your own PAYG/PAYM in there then! Smile

I opened the link and filled out the survey, but when I clicked submit it said survey closed so I think it closed while I was filling it out. Assume have missed out in that case.

Dang it.

Scoleah · 18/08/2017 14:43

Aw unlucky Bin

The post closed quick? Fingers crossed we'll hear before the weekend!

Good luck everybody! Smile

I got an email today to say my son was chosen for this. Part of me is thrilled and part of me is terrified! He is desperate for a phone but I feel like I may be opening up a whole can of worms!

Scoleah · 18/08/2017 18:01

Ah well done wiifitmama! Aw I didn't get an email here! Sad

CarolinePenvenen · 18/08/2017 18:02

Well done! Hope it’s as good as it claims.

No email here either Sad

Alibobbob · 18/08/2017 18:04

I got an email too. I am quite excited - but not as excited as my daughter. It will be interesting to see how this works. I guess we just buy a new sim at the end of the trial.

Scoleah · 18/08/2017 18:05

Aw well done Guys! Can't wait to here the feedback x

Ewanwhosearmy · 18/08/2017 18:14

Theresnonamesleft · 18/08/2017 18:36

Woohoo been picked. 😁

GraciesMansion · 18/08/2017 19:17

My dd is very excited that we've been chosen! Should be interesting.

SequinsOnEverything · 18/08/2017 19:29

I've had an email today too. Not told dd, will shrprise her when we get it. I'm really looking forward to seeing what it's like.

Blatherskite · 18/08/2017 19:59

I'm waiting until it arrives to tell DS. He'll be too excited to sleep until it arrives otherwise!

Yep, have just put the battery and sim in and am charging it up.

Wiifitmama · 22/08/2017 10:47

Ours has come too - I wasn't expecting it so soon! Not much in the way of instruction though. I thought we were getting some info by email about the trial? Anyway, I am handing it over to my 16 year old later to set up for me - he will no doubt know exactly what to do! I haven't told my 9 year old yet he is getting it and he is out all day so it will be a big surprise later.

outnumbered77 · 22/08/2017 11:03

The first thing you have to do is download the parent app and set up your parent account.

Alibobbob · 22/08/2017 12:14

Where is the QR code?
