JimJams have asked us to find 250 lucky Mumsnetters to test out their hazelnut chocolate spread. Testers will be sent one 350g jar of their 83% Less Sugar Hazelnut Chocolate Spread to try out with their family and will then be asked to leave feedback on a thread on Mumsnet.

Here’s what Kellie Bath, the co-founder of JimJams, had to say about the low-sugar treat: ‘As a mum, I was shocked at the amount of sugar found in most chocolate spreads (the equivalent of 57 sugar cubes per 400g jar). I decided to create a range of spreads that tasted amazing but with a fraction of the sugar (83% less sugar than leading brands!).

Our chocolate spreads are available in hazelnut and milk chocolate varieties. They have won Great Taste Awards, are officially kinder to teeth (approved by The British Dental Health Foundation) and are gluten free.

We use Maltitol to sweeten our spreads which is derived from a natural source (not artificial). It has nearly half of the calories than sugar, is kinder on teeth and diabetic friendly.

The tiny amount of palm oil used (one third palm to two thirds rapeseed) is fully sustainable and certified by the RSPO.’

For those of you with nut allergies and/or dairy intolerances in your family, please be aware that this product does contain nuts and milk, so it’s probably not for you (but keep an eye on our upcoming product tests for other options). Here is a link to the list of ingredients.

If you’d like to try JimJams, please enter your details here to sign up for the product test. If you’re selected, your jar will be with you soon and you’ll be required to leave some feedback on the thread on Mumsnet. All testers who comment on the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

phillie1 · 28/06/2017 16:48

Signed up. Would love to try out. Daughters nickname since Infant school is JimJam, and she loves Nutella, so this would be great surprise for her and much healthier too

I've applied as my 3 all love Nutella on toast, but I only allow it as a very occasional treat due to the high sugar content. This would be perfect for making that very occasional treat a more common treat.

Pity it's for children aged 5 and above as my 2 and a half year old daughter loves chocolate spread and so do I. We regularly have it on toast and occasionally on a sandwich, pancakes and in porridge. Love the fact it's 83% less sugar, only a tiny amount of palm oil in it and that it's kinder on teeth too. Sounds great, I would have loved to have taken part.

Applied! I'd love this for my diabetic son! Smile

Shall I stick some crumpets on the online Asda order MNHQ!

Tidypidy · 29/06/2017 10:27

This sounds very interesting however please change the op to read Type 2 diabetes friendly. People with Type 1 diabetes can eat the same healthy balanced diet as everyone else, including sugar. Thank you.

malisa · 29/06/2017 12:14

This is perfect for us....low in sugar

ILoveDolly · 29/06/2017 16:40

Yum. Signed in. Thanks

Eolian · 29/06/2017 16:46

Was going to sign up, but apparently maltitol is artificial and has similar effects (stomach pains, bloating and wind) to xylitol and sorbitol. No thanks.

purplevamp · 29/06/2017 17:31

Yummy!! All signed up.

Kardashianlove · 29/06/2017 17:39

From what I've read Maltitol is artificial and doesn't sound good for you at all-I would rather have give my DC sugar!

The OP says it's not artificial though which is misleading, unless I've got it wrong.

Anyone who is worried about chocolate spread being bad for you, look up the ingredients in this and compare it to the ingredients in some other chocolate spreads-there seem to be some far better options than this.
