JimJams have asked us to find 250 lucky Mumsnetters to test out their hazelnut chocolate spread. Testers will be sent one 350g jar of their 83% Less Sugar Hazelnut Chocolate Spread to try out with their family and will then be asked to leave feedback on a thread on Mumsnet.

Here’s what Kellie Bath, the co-founder of JimJams, had to say about the low-sugar treat: ‘As a mum, I was shocked at the amount of sugar found in most chocolate spreads (the equivalent of 57 sugar cubes per 400g jar). I decided to create a range of spreads that tasted amazing but with a fraction of the sugar (83% less sugar than leading brands!).

Our chocolate spreads are available in hazelnut and milk chocolate varieties. They have won Great Taste Awards, are officially kinder to teeth (approved by The British Dental Health Foundation) and are gluten free.

We use Maltitol to sweeten our spreads which is derived from a natural source (not artificial). It has nearly half of the calories than sugar, is kinder on teeth and diabetic friendly.

The tiny amount of palm oil used (one third palm to two thirds rapeseed) is fully sustainable and certified by the RSPO.’

For those of you with nut allergies and/or dairy intolerances in your family, please be aware that this product does contain nuts and milk, so it’s probably not for you (but keep an eye on our upcoming product tests for other options). Here is a link to the list of ingredients.

If you’d like to try JimJams, please enter your details here to sign up for the product test. If you’re selected, your jar will be with you soon and you’ll be required to leave some feedback on the thread on Mumsnet. All testers who comment on the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Just having a read about maltitol, from what I have read, it says it is an artificial sweetner. I'm happy to be corrected but it doesn't sound very good from what I've read so far.

This sounded really good at first but I've just had a look at your ingredients list and compared to a couple of other 'healthy' chocolate spread ingredients lists and the others look far better.

Footle · 27/06/2017 07:56

Isn't Maltilol similar to Sorbitol? If so , it will cause diarrhoea if you eat much at a time.

CakeIsMyFavouriteAndBest · 27/06/2017 13:33

Signed up, looks like a good swap for the other chocolate spread, anything with less sugar and Palm oil is good as long as it still tastes nice!

Footle- you're completely right, I bought a jar of this and had the worst tummy ache due to the artificial sweetener. Seriously avoid and go for the proper stuff

Would be nice to find a less sugar alternative for the kids so have signed up!

ThanksForAllTheFish · 27/06/2017 22:05

Tempted to sign up but I've banned myself from hazelnut spread at the moment after several instances of eating practically a whole jar in one sitting (with a spoon).

The JimJams spread sounds lovely right enough, but not sure I would have the restraint to not eat it all in one go and actually share it with my family Grin

Pingoo · 28/06/2017 07:05

Yes please we'd love to try this. I was so shocked at the amount of sugar in the leading brand, I never buy it. I've been looking for an alternative but never found it - until now!

ottoisme · 28/06/2017 07:47

signed up,. thanks

Orangepear · 28/06/2017 08:56

Sorbitol gives me diarrhoea and maltitol is a similar product so there is no way I'd give it to DC. Shame the spread isn't made low sugar just by using less sugar!

daisydaisy1975 · 28/06/2017 09:05

Done too. :)
