Mind Candy asked us to recruit MNers with at least one DC aged 5-8 to test their new subscription service, containing fun Moshi-themed activities and games. The boxes work in conjunction with the Moshi Egg Hunt Mobile Game, which can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android. Selected testers were sent a letter from Moshlingologist Buster Bumblechops, enlisting their DCs to help in a quest to retrieve a special stolen egg. This was then followed up by the first in a series of Mystery Boxes, containing crafts and activities.

Here’s what Mind Candy have said about the product: ‘The experience begins when your DC receives an exciting personalised letter in the post, in which Buster Bumblechops explains that a very special Moshling egg has been stolen and that he’ll soon be sending a Moshi Mystery Box, jam-packed with clues, activities and missions. The first box contains fun art and craft activities, Moshi collectables, a comic strip, jokes and much more. And if you decide to sign up, there will be two more Moshi Mystery Boxes to follow.

A simple story runs across all three boxes, taking your child on a quest across Monstro City. Each box is also themed - box one is the Frostipop Glacier, two is Potion Ocean and three is all about the Gombala Gombala Jungle! The first box will also contain a pack of trading cards that can be scanned to unlock exclusive characters in the 100% free Moshi Monsters Egg Hunt Mobile Game!’

Testers - if you’ve been sent your mystery box, please leave your feedback on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw for a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

Thanks for taking part and good luck with the prize draw.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

Our letter was in the box - was this meant to be sent separately? DD was very excited, espcailly by the size of the box

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

She liked the little moshi figures best. She enjoyed the crafts, but the paint colours were a but watery for her- she prefered to use her usual paints.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Not yet - going to during the holidays.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Blimey! That;s a bit dear. I would have said £5.99 a box was plenty

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

She liked it, but at 5.5 couldn't do some parts like the worsearches.

_How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?*

Not at that price, unfortunately. Also found the instructions a bit complex- not quite sure what is happening re the collectables.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
A bit some simplified would be better and a lower price.

vlcrhopkins · 30/06/2017 16:15

I wanted the box for both my daughters 5 & 8, really nice that there was enough to either do two activists each or adapt to make two.

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
Ripped open the box, opened all the bags and wondered what to do with it all! Then found the letter, read that, played with the moshis.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The little moshi toys
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Loved playing the game, game suitable for both my 5 & 8 year olds.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
For too expensive, normally wouldn't pay this for an activity box. £5 per box more sensible. Might like either one off box, with everything in for £10 and each component numbered.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
Loved getting letters addressed to them personally.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
No.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
either one box, or boxes cheaper, or continuing subscription boxes.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

My 5 year old son was very excited to receive a letter addressed to himself! After I read it to him he couldn't wait to get the box - although he did think we were doing an actual egg hunt straight away, so I had to get out some leftover chocolate eggs and hide them in the house for him to find!

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The teeny tiny moshlings. He loved 'hatching' them out of the frozen 'eggs' and gave them names and wants to make bunk beds for them!

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Eventually, yes. It wouldn't download on his tablet (Kindle Fire) so I had to get it on my iPhone. It would be better if it was available on all platforms. My son enjoyed it for about 10 minutes. He loved scratching off the codes to scan and the mini games.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I do think they are a little overpriced - we have subscribed to Toucan Boxes and currently Mr Maker boxes and pay £5-7 inc delivery for them which is better value in my opinion.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

He loved the fact that the letter and box were addressed to him - he kept asking how they knew his name! He loved the frozen egg activity, egg painting not so much. The cards and the app were enjoyed too and added a nice interactive dimension to the experience. Playing on mummy's phone is always an extra treat to him!

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Probably not at the current price unless he really wants to. If they were cheaper I definitely would.

How do you think the experience could be improved?

Having the app available for Kindle Fire so that he can pick and choose to play it rather than having to ask me for my phone.

Thanks very much for selecting us to take part, we had lots of fun Grin

buddles · 30/06/2017 17:04

Sorry meant to add that when we eventually got our box (about 2 weeks after the letter) he had remembered that he would be getting one from the letter. He wanted to open it straight away and he got stuck right in, and wanted to do the egg freezing activity immediately, once they were in the freezer he kept asking if it had been 3 hours yet and could we hatch them. Smile

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
She was really excited as she already has lots of Moshi monsters and we have watched the film loads
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
She loved the tiny Moshi figures
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes, she thought it was brilliant
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I think that it is very overpriced for what is essentially a themed craft box
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She thought it was brilliant that it had her name on
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not likely as I think it is too expensive and I'd rather have the option to address it to my four children instead of just one
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Family boxes with a number of crafts for the number of children you can choose
Ineedacupofteadesperately · 30/06/2017 21:52

My daughter liked the letter and receiving the parcel. However, she hasn't done any of the activities - I've allowed a few weeks to see if she'd come back to it, but she hasn't. Given her complete lack of interest I wouldn't pay for another box. She liked the app but found the scratch cards frustrating as several just wouldn't scan. From my point of view, the app seems fun to a point but repetitive and less educational than other apps out there. She hasn't asked to play the app for several days now so may be tiring of that too.

The idea of the letter plus box of activities is a good one, but the content didn't interest my daughter.

Ginxed · 30/06/2017 22:32
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
Read the letter and waited impatiently for the box, when it arrived he opened everything all at once, cards, activities, the lot! Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it? The see through moshi and the scratch cards.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
No, there is no app for my windows phone
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I'm disappointed as I would have bought the set, but that's just too expensive for what you get.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He loved the personalisation and was really excited by the box, but then was confused as the puzzles didn't seem to work together to solve the mystery, they just seemed a random mix of activities. As there was no obvious goal from completing the activities he lost interest.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Very unlikely as it's overpriced and not as exciting as it seemed at first.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Reduce the price and make the activities work together so there is a point to completing them all and solving the mystery.
nushcar · 30/06/2017 23:39

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box? My daughter aged 6 was not that taken by letter format. She was excited it was for her as she never receives post and I had hyped it up a little but as looks like a mass-produced letter and was quite detailed, not sure she caught on to what it was about. The box itself was far more exciting as it had lots of items similar to a party bag. The kids aged 4 and 6 shared items out excitedly but did not care to read instructions for how to use. They loved little figurines ( very collectible) and blew balloons up first.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it? The little Moshi Monster figures.

_Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? The kids love computer games as is a rare treat. My son (4) was more interested than my daughter (6).

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?Way too expensive - items are similar to what you could get with one of those kids magazines for £5. Cheaper price would be better but commercialise on collecting the moshi figures.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation? The personalisation is a nice idea but looks mass produced. Gifts by post really exciting for kids.
How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series? unlikely unless lost most of stuff I. Box other than figures, which you could collect and put on display - similar to how a magazine subscription would work.

How do you think the experience could be improved? Cheaper And more focussed. It was hard to understand purpose of box. Maybe just figures, a personalised membership card, stickers and badge and short magazine where collectors can show their Moshi collections and swap even.

puglife · 01/07/2017 07:14
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

My DD (6) was very excited to be getting her own post and ripped them both open. She didn't read all the letter, there was a lot of text there and it didn't really grab her interest.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
She liked the little characters, no she doesn't still play with them.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? We didn't download the game as she had no interest in playing on a mobile game
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Expensive for what you get. I definitely wouldn't pay that.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She liked getting something through the post and was excited to open all the little bags. However we weren't very impressed with the content.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I wouldn't subscribe.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Better activities. She did enjoy doing the ice balloon activity but the painting wasn't great, she has a lot of painting things already at home so didn't think it was very good.
StickChildNumberTwo · 01/07/2017 10:39
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
My daughter was very excited by the letter saying a box was going to arrive. The wait was too long though. The box actually arrived on a very busy day so then got put away before she saw it so she could have it the next day. I wasn't there when she opened it, but everything got ripped open and strewn everywhere without much sense of what to do with it.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
She likes the little Moshi Monster but doesn't really play with it. The puzzles were good.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes, it's gone down well, although it's frustrating to find an egg only to be told it won't hatch until tomorrow.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Too expensive.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
Personalisation was good, box was a bit of a let down (although that's partly because the crafts need some supervision and we've not had time to do them), app seems to be fun (although I'm wondering if I'm going to regret downloading it...)
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not at that price - if it was half that then maybe.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Shorter time between letter and box, box contents to be more self explanatory for a 5 year old and not need to wait for a parent to help with all the activities.
1969angep · 01/07/2017 11:48

So we've now had a chance to look at everything.

  1. Lucas wasn't fussed about the letter if I'm honest. Whilst he liked having a letter addressed to him it was probably a bit too "wordy" for him so he lost interest. Once the box arrived though it was a different story. He looked through all of it going "oooo what's this" as he explored each separate thing.
  2. He really enjoyed the egg painting craft and the colouring in. Obviously not still playing with either of these things as once they're done they're done. I wouldn't say that any of the items in the box have longevity in terms of continued play.
  3. We have downloaded the app - he liked the process of choosing and deciding on the colour of his moshling. I don't think he's particularly fussed about trying to collect them all though. We did enjoy the games - particularly Ice Scream Parlour and Moshi Match. These will keep him occupied quite happily for a while. The scanning of the cards was pretty nifty too
  4. I think the price is a bit on the high side. The boxes are fun but he'd already done something very similar to the balloon experiment at school and the egg decoration task was quite basic. They were both things that it's quite easy (and cheap) to do at home. As I said before there's also no ongoing play value to anything in the box so it would amuse for perhaps an afternoon but no longer. Whilst the presentation was nicely done the contents didn't really have any great financial value so even at the bundle price I'd feel a bit ripped off.
  5. He liked the box and personalisation but he wasn't sufficiently absorbed by the story to want to continue it
  6. I won't be continuing with the other boxes
  7. I think the boxes need something that has lasting play value. Maybe a small jigsaw or moshling figures that are slightly bigger and in 2 or 3 pieces that could be built. The balloon experiment was more fun - basic science is always great to try and build in so more things along this line rather than just basic colouring. Maybe a little printed list/book of all the figures that are available to collect as a visual prompt. Kids love ticking things off a list.

All in all I think it's an interesting concept and if a group of friends were all collecting/swapping the cards then the value is increased.

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
Opened and read the letter. He was super excited especially when the box arrived.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He likes the pipette and little toys.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes. Played with for first few days but not any more.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Bit too high though items nicely packaged.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
Really nice idea though the letter perhaps a bit unnecessary. Would be better if cheaper and just the box.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I'm afraid unlikely, too expensive for what it is.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
More toys as that's what kids like! I did like that it has all the craft materials required though;

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box? she read the letter to me, then to her siblings and then took it in to school to show. she then waited and waited for the box to arrive. when the box arrived she was massively excited and just wanted to look at everything.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it? the little characters were her favourite and she is still playing with them and wants more.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? we haven't yet as she has 2 disabled siblings who have been in and out of hospital so just haven't found the time but have promised her I will this weekend.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price? I wish they were cheaper. they would make a lovely little treat for her when her siblings and myself are in hospital and would give her and her dad something to do. but this makes them expensive for what they are.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation? she loved it!!!
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series? I would love to but don't think we could find the money.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved? cheaper!
thank you for picking us. it gave my daughter a well needed distraction x

Many thanks for the opportunity to trial this.

- What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
It was very exciting for our little one to receive a letter addressed to him. The letter was always going to be a challenge for a 5 year-old, of course, and needed to be read out. Or rather, an abridged/adapted version was read out containing all the exciting elements to ensure they were really looking forward to the activities contained within the box.

- Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
After freezing the toys in the balloons, we created a mini-quest to locate the ice balloons with the now-hidden figures contained within them. This enhanced the appeal of the toys. The cards were also good, although there may have been a few more packets included.

- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Have not done this yet, but it's very likely we'll give this a go.

- These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
We are extremely grateful to trial this pack for free. Unfortunately,
£9.99 does not represent good value. However, if I were to consider further purchases, subscribing to a set number of boxes rather than singles would be more cost-effective, and would provide a lot of activities instantly.

- What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
As stated above, it was very exciting for our little one to receive a letter and package addressed to him. The mystery box is excellent, overall - there is a lot for children to do. However, you cannot leave 5-8 year olds to their own devices with this - an adult will have to go through and explain the contents. Furthermore, keeping the ice balloon activity a mystery until it was time to defrost the "monsters" free actually made it more appealing.

- How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
The concept is very appealing, although not cost-effective in our opinion. If there were at least a few more card packets included, or a few more toys, it would have been better.

- How do you think the experience could be improved?
The activities should be clearly numbered in order and labelled to correspond to the instruction sheets/cards. Plus the £9.99/£17.99 prices would have to be lowered.

Thank you once again for the opportunity to participate in this.

Smile

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
My daughter got very excited. She read the letter and then wanted me to read it. She was so excited for the box to come.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The craft items, no she's not playing with it anymore.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
No
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I wouldnt spend the money, I don't feel its worth it. She was so excited about it so the concept is good but I wouldn't pay that much for any further ones and she hasn't mentioned it or played with it that much.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She found it very exciting and was so eager for it to arrive.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I will not be upgrading to a paid subscription.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
The letter was good, I like that it was personalised. I think she was expecting something more/different with the box. She was looking forward to solving the mystery so I think it wasn't what she was expecting.

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

My daugher (nearly 7 years old was very excited when she received the box. It was bright and attractive, and she really liked getting post addressed to her. It looked good fun.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

She loved the moshling.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

No, but we do plan to.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

More expensive than I would pay regularly, and not competitive when compared to some of the craft boxes you can subscribe to.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Overall she liked it, but some of the stuff was too fiddly, and not really clear what to do, unless I also got involved.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not at the current price.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

More moshlings. More activities. Include more cards/clues.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
DS was really surprised and excited to receive the letter. We read it together and he was so keen to get on with it, we had tears when he realised he had to wait for the box. When the box finally arrived, he thought it was Christmas and loved going through everything.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
Scanning the scratch off cards and the craft ideas. Not still playing with them.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes and DS loved collecting the rocks. Unfortunately, some of the games were either repetitive or too hard (as a 5 yr old, I'm embarrassed to say he didn't recognise the Argentine flag!!). As a result, he lost interest fairly quickly.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Too expensive.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
DC loved the experience- apart from birthdays and Christmas, these were the first things that arrived addressed to him and he was beyond excited.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Can't see it happening at the moment. If it becomes the talk of the playground and card swapping gains momentum, then maybe.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
Improve the App experience. The matching game was too repetitive-make them more like the 'whack a moshi' which became progressively more challenging.

Thank you for including us in the testing.

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

She opened the letter and read it through. She thought the character was real and had actually written to her. With the box she was less interested in the letter and she wanted to see what was in the box instead.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The little mocha monsters which were frozen. She’s still talking about it.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes. She had just stepped on a be and been stung. The games provided enough of a distraction to help stop her crying and while the pain got less. There are lots of different games on there and while some were a bit tough for her (maths against the clock is hard for a 5 year old and reading instructions in an against the clock game) she enjoyed playing with it.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I think it is very expensive for what is included in the box. We’ve had quite a few subscription boxes and this is expensive in comparison.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She was very excited by it and amazed that she had been written to. She was interested in one of the activities and the little toys (and the app) but lost interest in the rest quickly.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Unlikely. It’s too expensive and it all seems to be trying to encourage you to buy more (e.g. to buy more trading cards and get your friends buying them too).
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Reduce the price.
cjbk1 · 02/07/2017 15:47
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
three were very excited to receive a parcel with their name on it but the forth one took a while to arrive
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it? the tiny sized moshlings yes playing with them when they appear
  • Did you download the mobile game? Yes
How did they find it? They enjoy it but not totally hooked
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I'd prefer something around the £5 mark each OR a big box to work together on challenges but that's a totally different idea I suppose
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
It was fun and enjoyable the personalisation was good but in all honesty we probably haven't finished it yet. Winter would probably have been a better season for these to arrive but we are grateful nevertheless
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
not very likely I'm afraid
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
as I've said a box for siblings to share maybe with a Christmas or autumn theme because then it's more likely to be fully utilise when it's not playing outdoors weather. We really enjoyed the moshi balloon experience even our 11yo and we liked adding codes to get new moshlings
noideawhat · 02/07/2017 16:27
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

DS (6) was really excited about the letter & desperate to receive the box. He was really impressed with the letter. However, it took a while for the box to arrive & I think he'd lost interest by the time it did! Unfortunately when it did come, I was having a lie-in so the box was opened with DH. By the time I got downstairs, everything was scattered everywhere, the balloons had been blown up & were being played with & no-one had really looked at the activities. It took me a while to work out why I had random sachets of salt in the front room! If I'd have been around at the beginning it probably wouldn't have degenerated into chaos. Realise that wasn't the Mystery Box's fault though!

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

He really liked the Moshi Monster figures & still plays with them as part of his other games. He also enjoyed doing the wordsearch.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

I had to remind him to download the game. I had thought that would be the most exciting part for him but he really wasn't bothered by it.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Think they're too expensive. The activities looked good but my son just wasn't overly interested in them.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

He really loved the personalised letter. It was a huge surprise for him & he spent a lot of time wondering about the box & anticipating it. Unfortunately he just wasn't that bothered by the time it arrived.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not likely at all I'm afraid. It's too expensive & for dome reason my son wasn't enthused by it.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

I agree with other posters about the length of time between the letter & the box. It was a bit too long for a 6 year old to stay excited.

Thanks for picking us though!

- What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
Letter, he was very excited about and read it through. Kept asking when the box was coming. When it did, he opened is straight away.
- Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He liked the little figures. He played with them for some time over the weekend when we got the box. He also really liked the cards.
- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? I downloaded it, but we didn't get there. I asked him if he wanted to look at it but he wasn't that interested. I think he was expecting something different but when I've asked him, he's just shrugged.
- These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price? Bit expensive for what you get in the box, sorry.
- What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation? He quite liked it, especially getting something with his name on in the post. I think maybe there was a bit too much 'paper stuff' that didn't quite catch his attention as much as the toys.
- How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series? Not going to. He liked it, but not that much.
- How do you think the experience could be improved? I'd expect more actual stuff in the box for the price - cards, crafts etc, rather than paper puzzles and readables.

The app has now crashed, seems to have bugs in it and no app updates are issued. Pretty bad for those who have paid for it. My kids loved the app, so it's been a bit of a rubbish experience now that it doesn't work 😞

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
He was super excited with the personalised letter from Buster Bumblechops and was watching every day for the postman to arrive with his box! The box took a while to get here which he found upsetting - " He's forgotten me!" & I found quite stressful! When it arrived he was delighted with the activities!
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He loved the tiny moshling figures & they're still in play every day! They've gone on lots of unusual non moshi adventures together!
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes, he was really in to it at first, but hasn't been that bothered to play it since.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I think it's a bit pricey for what's included.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He was thrilled to receive the mystery box addressed to him & the personalised letter was "best ever!".
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I won't be upgrading to a paid subscription as I don't think my child is totally invested in moshi monsters as a brand, though he does enjoy playing with them along with his other figures as part of his own creative adventures.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
If the price were more reasonable I might reconsider buying, could be handy for car journeys, flights etc. Thank you for the opportunity to test! We had fun!

**What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
When DD first received the letter she was so excited to have her own post and asked every day when it was coming.
When the parcel came she was so excited and got straight into opening it and doing all the activities and borrowed my phone to play online and use the cards

_Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with ?
Her favorite was the activities to do and she loved freezing the figures... but she soon lost interest

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Dd loved it for about 3 days and then lost interest

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
That is an extortionate price for something that doesnt keep them busy for more than 3 days

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She loved that it had her name on

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I just couldnt justify that amount of money

How do you think the experience could be improved?
Definately cheaper

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

My daughter was so excited to get her letter and waited eagerly for the box to arrive which took about a week. Both were personalised which was great.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
She got straight into it and was eager to do everything straight away. We set up the online thing and she liked putting the qr code on to get her creatures.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes we did. Found it hard to find at first but she found it easy enough to set up on her own once we'd downloaded the app.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
There's quite a lot in there for the price, however I don't think I would pay it.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
It has been a great experience. She loved getting her own post through.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I don't think I would to be honest as she hasn't really been on it a lot.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Cant think of anything at the moment.

Thank you for letting us take part. My daughter had just started talking about moshi monsters as the eldest used to do it.
