This is the feedback thread for the 10 Mumsnetters trying the Kobold VK200 Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

Non testers - we also have 5 handheld vacuums to be won - simply share on this thread what your least favourite room or place to vac is and you will be entered into a prize draw where 5 non testers will each win their very own Kobold VC100 handheld vacuum cleaner (RRP £129.00) Smile

Back to the test, the team at Kobold say “compact, unbeatably handy and extremely powerful, the Kobold VK200 Upright Vacuum Cleaner is the ideal addition to your household, making life easier and cleaner.
Designed by global German household appliance manufacturer Vorwerk, the Kobold VK200, in combination with two different attachments, takes care of all your floor cleaning needs. Whether it’s carpets or hard floors – the VK200 Homecare System has it covered.
The unique SP530 DuoClean head allows you to mop and vacuum at the same time – a world first! It uses just 100ml of water to cover up to 20 m² of hard floor. And the best part? Simply remove the cleaning cloths when you’ve finished and pop them in the washing machine ready for next time.

“The EB400 brush head meanwhile ensures vacuuming is thorough, gentle and hygienic – driven by its own motor, a special rotating brush scans the floor 16 times per second and removes dirt and dust completely. Even the finest dirt particles do not stand a chance!

“Visit kobold.vorwerk.co.uk to find out more about the Kobold VK200 vacuum cleaner and discover the array of clever additional accessories that turn this machine into the Ultimate Homecare System! Simply click and swap to the attachment you need to expertly deal with upholstery, furniture, mattresses, textiles and anything else you need cleaned. Built to last, the Kobold VK200 is the only vacuum cleaner you’ll ever need”.

The Kitchen. How it gets so messy I'll never know!

LaPharisienne · 26/11/2016 21:56

Non-tester:

I HATE vaccuming our wooden floors. Half an hour after I think I've finished, they're dusty again! I end up brushing and mopping constantly. Angry

oliveoyl72 · 26/11/2016 22:23

My worst place is the stairs - the lead doesn't stretch that far without an extension lead for a start, and it's difficult to keep the vacuum in a position on each stair without it wanting to topple off.

I vacuum the stairs as little as possible, instead I sometimes pick up the visible bits on my way up and just put them in the bin.

jt75 · 26/11/2016 22:32

Least favourite is the stairs. I find this really awkward and have to do it in two halves.

Ferryfairy · 26/11/2016 22:49

Non-tester. My conservatory, for some reason all my hair gathers there!

Haribogirl · 26/11/2016 23:05

My car
As I have long hair and also DD as long hair, hairs are everywhere. I just can't get them all!
Nightmare with the hoover I've got

AngelwingsPetlamb · 26/11/2016 23:10

My least favourite place vacuum is the stairs because the vacuum only reaches half way up and then I have to go up to the top and vacuum down from the top for the other half. I don't like doing it because it feels unsafe and makes my back ache.

flapjack35 · 27/11/2016 02:24

Ohhh I hate doing the stairs, both sets, I need to lie down after the first set. lol, living in a 3 storey house does have its downsides.

lorilizy · 27/11/2016 07:23

Our front room is a nightmare - the amount of toys that end up under the sofa is incredible

foxymama1983 · 27/11/2016 08:38

Has too be the stairs. As the hoover only reachs a certain distance.I end up having too stop, unplug then do the other half.

retromummy · 27/11/2016 10:28

My sons bedroom as there are clothes and debris all over the floor in fact I am just about going to give up and make him do it himself!

wooohooo · 27/11/2016 11:40

I hate doing my sons bedroom as our dog loves to sleep In there
and the carpet Is always full of hair from our long haired German Shepherd

Marg2k8 · 27/11/2016 11:53

Non tester - my least favourite is the stairs - I late lugging my cleaner up and down, it is so heavy.

Blue66 · 27/11/2016 13:38

My least favourite play to vacuum is my son's room, which is so cluttered and it is hard to move around in there x

Julieguy · 27/11/2016 15:12

We've just had a new carpet put down in our lounge, and it's looks lovely when it's just been hoovered.

hotdiggedy · 27/11/2016 15:14

When is the closing date for this? I have been thinking about buying one of their handheld cleaners since reading this thread (unlikely that i will be lucky enough to win one!) but I read that they aren't so good at picking up pet hairs. Anyone know if this is the case?

feefeegabor · 27/11/2016 15:17

My office - I have sooo much stuff in there - I have to move bits out of the way then hoover that space, then move along doing the same thing. I takes forever!

helly27 · 27/11/2016 15:27

Our sons room there is stuff everywhere and have to tidy before hoovering

GlassCircles · 27/11/2016 15:31

Bedrooms are the worst - thick fluffy carpet with long human hairs, urgh. The thick carpet is a nightmare to hoover - either the hoover head skims it and doesn't suck, or it grips it and makes it really hard to push through.

Hairs either get pushed around into balls (with the 'flat' attachment) or spun tightly around the roller (on the turbo brush attachment) which then take half an hour to unpick - totally gross.

Oh and there are far too many tight angles for the cylinder to bash against and get caught behind.

(Can you tell this is a favourite rant of mine?)

kerryv · 27/11/2016 16:20

The stairs 😬

simone12345 · 27/11/2016 16:25

Non tester - my least favourite place to vacuum is my bedroom so much stuff to move its horrid

Ikea1234 · 27/11/2016 16:57

DS's bedroom....you never know what you might encounter! Plus we have a baby indoor tortoise in his room who kicks her habitat around and covers the floor with chips from her table. Double trouble!

(Non tester)

abster0114 · 27/11/2016 18:12

I hate vacuuming the stairs, especially with my corded vacuum cleaner

GlassCircles · 27/11/2016 18:47

I'm a non tester btw

seeingdouble2 · 27/11/2016 18:59

hate doing the children's rooms ! I do not know how they generate so much mess, fluff, bits of paper toilet roll, only do it once a week as that's all the time I have.
