I watched the Digby Dragon DVD with my DD (8) DS (7), DD (3) and my nephew who is also 3!

My overall thoughts are that the graphics are very good, much more movie like than the normal cartoons my kids watch also a really song which got the kids attention nice and quick. Unfortunately my youngest DD decided that she was scared of the squirrel and that she didn't like him at all! My son and nephew were much more engaged and watched the whole DVD without complaint. Oldest DD wasn't really that interested but she is probably too old and it's not cool enough for her!!!!!!

I found it difficult to pick up the supporting characters names and I personally didn't enjoy it as much as some of the other shows they watch, where there is some subtle humour thrown in for the adults!

After we watched the DVD I asked the kids which bits they enjoyed the most my youngest DD said that the fairy is her favourite and that she too would like pink hair! DS said that his favourite part was when the fairy used her magic to make the nuts fly and when the green goblin was riding the tyre like a circus clown.

My nephew said his favourite part was at the start when Digby was trying to fly high and he crashed through the trees and that it looked like he was flying too when he watched it.

My kids gave this a mixed review the boys would give it 4 out of 5 as they enjoyed watching it and liked all the character, Youngest DD said she liked it only a little bit and didn't want to watch it again (so a 2 1/2 out of 5 from her.

If it came up in conversation I would say to other parents to give it a try, all kids like different shows and the boys enjoyed it!

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?
DD just turned 5.

2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
I like it, I like the theme tune and have found myself humming it around the house all week-very catchy! I like the animation and DD thinks it is funny.

4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)

5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?
Yes I would, I liked the animation , DD found it funny and engaged with the characters and they weren't annoying. It is also nice to have a new programme to watch instead of the usual ones!

My daughter loved the activity pack , had great fun with the mask and liked the stickers. She spent a good while colouring in the wand to make one like fizzy's. Will try and upload photos. thanks

Iamthemotherofdragons · 01/08/2016 09:11
  1. My 3 year old daughter was the one watching the shows.
  1. Digby Dragon has been a breath of fresh air! My little girl has a lot of shows that she enjoys watching but we haven't really added anything new for a while. She was so excited as she believed that Digby had sent her the activity pack and she couldn't wait to get stuck in to the DVDs. She's just gone off to nursery and as a little treat DH said she could watch Digby on the way and she was cheering! I think that the show would appeal to both sexes and the episodes held my daughter's attention well.
  1. My daughter's favourite episode was 'Dragon Day' and she said she like it when the dragon wings broke. She couldn't decide between Digby and Fizzy as her favourite character.
  1. I would give the show 5 stars. It is well made, has cute characters and it is a good addition to Nick Jr. My little girl would also give it 5 stars - she said 'I love Digby!'
  1. Yes, I think it is a programme that lots of my friends' little ones would enjoy. The storylines are good and it is something a bit different. My DD has also been telling her friends about the show and showing them her Digby mask.
TheImprobableGirl · 01/08/2016 13:46

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?
DD aged 4 and DS who has just turned 7.
2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
Enjoyed it, kids have been keen to watch more episodes which we have found on nick junior. I must admit when they were first watching it, it looked like they were distracted but at the end they remembered everything about it and were talking about the characters.
I have found it relatively watchable for a kids show. Wasn't keen on the theme tune though, sorry.
3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?
DS liked Digby. He liked his accent.
DD of course liked the fairy Fizzy and also Archie the mouse. Oh and also Chips (she can't decide!)
Their favourite part was when one of the characters (sorry, they knew the name, but I have forgotten!) was turned into a giant.
4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)
I would give it 4 stars.
5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?

  1. I asked both children, DS1 likes that its funny, DS2 likes Digby learning to fly.
DS1 likes Digby, DS2 thinks Archiestown is awesome.
  1. I would give it 4. DS1 gives it 5, DS2 gives it 7!
  1. Yes. Definately! It's a lovely show with a nice feel.

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?
A: 2, 4, 6
2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
A: Great fun - not twee or annoying which was my fear.
3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?
A: they thought Digby being unable to fly was really unusual and funny - they enjoyed all the different ways he tried and failed to fly. Digby was their favourite character but the also loved Chip and the seanuts.
4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)
A: 5 - they watched the dvd on loop and talked about seanuts all evening...
5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?
A: yes. I liked the morals of the stories which weren't too teachy preachy. I agree with other posters re the gender neutrality of the show, my DD and DS enjoyed this equally. The varied regional accents were a breath of fresh air. The tone and humour are just right and the storylines original and engaging. DD found the activity book engaging and DS thought the mask was hilarious (on me).

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?
6 and 4

2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
It shows the adventures of a small community of 'animal' friends who live in a woodland setting.

3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?
DS1 liked Mungo the owl and Ds2 liked Digby. They didn't seem to have a favourite part of the show but DH liked the scene where Chips accuses Digby of stealing his sea nut and then mimics him while he's spluttering in protest!

4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)

5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why? Probably not. It didn't really seem to hold the children's attention and seemed a bit derivative of other programmes. Maybe it would be better for very young children.

Thanks

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?

3.5 years old

2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?

Great programme for kids. The characters are very likeable and my dd really switches between who she likes.
For me, it drives me nuts, the animation is just too blocky/jerky as in the characters seem to not move smoothly. Unfortunately it's the first thing I notice so I have to just not watch it now. Great for when I'm doing dinner though.

3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?

My dd loved the episode with the snails in the basket as pets. Especially when they fell into the river and everyone was trying to rescue them.

4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)

I'd give it a 3/5 based on the way it is (although the story lines are fab). Dd would give it a 5/5.

5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?

Yes I would recommend it, it was a fun and friendly programme, I think I'd just say I struggle with the actual format of them moving. Grin

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon? 2 and 5
2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show? Fantastic animation and good song! The storylines didn't really captivate me, but then I'm not the target audience! Dc were both engrossed. An interesting range of accents!
3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character? Neither said they had a particular favourite part of the programme, but both said the squirrel was their favourite character. The 5 year old hates the fairy (Busy Izzy?) but I have no idea why! I think he's going through an anti-girl stage at the moment...!
4.Out of 5, how many stars how many would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it) I'd give it 3.5, dc would give it 4.
5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why? Yes, I would, mainly just because I was so impressed with the animation.
