Herbs, the Borghese gardens have a little zoo (we didn't go); a terrace with views over the whole of Rome; fountains; a cafe; bikes and pedal carriages for hire; a boating lake; fantastic ice creams and a little land train that does circuits.

I don't know how people cope with young kids in the crowds at the Colosseum, Pantheon etc.

1 What are the ages of your DC's that watched Digby Dragon?
3.5

2 What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
Likeable, friendly characters. Funny.

3 What was your DC's favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?
She liked the "sea nut" and spent the next few days pretending balloons were sea nuts with crabs in them. Her favourite characters were Digby and Fizzy.

4 Out of 5, how many stars with you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1= did not enjoy it at all, and 5 = really enjoyed it
Me - 3 (love the theme tune though!)
DD - 3.5 it didn't engage her as much as some other programmes she's watched. She seems to enjoy it while it's on, but doesn't ask to watch it. She did enjoy the activity pack, especially the stickers, thank you!

5 If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?
There are other shows I'd probably recommend first but I would certainly say it's worth a look for preschoolers. It has good characters, episodes are a good length and it's quite sweet.

Thank you for selecting me and for the activity pack and DVD.
1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?
DS1 is 5 and DS2 is 3.6
2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
A friendly gender neutral animated show with likeable characters.
3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?
DS1 likes Chips because he's cheeky and DS2 liked Archie probably because his bf is called Archie and his favourite toy is a mouse.
4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)
I would give it 4 as I would like to see some more obvious learning sections of the program similar to those you see in Wallykazam. The boys would both give it 5 as they have seen the whole series 3 times as we have it on NowTV.
5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?
Yes I would recommend Digby Dragon. Both my sons are entertained by it and as an adult I was happy to have it on in the background whilst in the room. Unlike some programs my boys haven't picked up any annoying phrases from it either!

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?

DD, 5 and DD 9 (but she was reading too).

2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
Sweet and fun. A lot less annoying than lots of children's programmes. Liked the animation style, felt quality unlike some kids TV shows.

3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?
She laughed a lot at all of them. Maybe the flying episode (Dragon day?) was her favourite. Favourite character was the little mushroom, chosen from the stickers before watching.

4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)
4

5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?
Yes, for 5 and unders. Because it is gentle, with good story lines. Agree with pp about gender roles being more positive than in many kids shows and not obviously a boys or girls programme, which is very refreshing.

  1. DD is 6. Very excited to have received her activity pack and DVD!
  2. Summary - the exploits of a group of woodland friends. Plots focusing on friendship. DD says it is all about helping each other.
  3. She liked the part where Digby saved his friends, and she liked it when Fizzy learnt how to do spells. She has no particular favourite.
  4. DD rates this a 3. Her favourite Nickjr show which excites her a lot is Shimmer and Shine. She then likes Fresh Beat Band of Spies, Paw Patrol and Blaze. She likes Digby well enough and watches it with attention. I would give it a 4.
  5. Yes I would recommend as it is a good programme with a positive message.

2 (5 weeks until she's 3)

2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?

Characters were interesting, stories were exciting, but not perilous (DDs scare easily!) A great new show.

3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?

DD2 likes Digby the best coz he doesn't fly very well with just his wings 😊
DD1 likes Fizzy Izzy the best because she's magic and she has fairy dust.

4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)

I would give it 5/5

DD1 would give it 10/5 Hmm

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?

DS is 5.5. DD is 2.3

2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?

At first glance (before we had watched it) I wondered if it would be too young for ds as the animation looks as though it is aimed at younger children but it was pitched well for this age group. Reminded me a bit of tree fu tom. DD was not fussed, but mainly because she wanted to watch minions (again).

3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?

DS liked Digby Dragon and enjoyed the bit where he learnt to fly.

4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)

Ds says 4

5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?

Yes. Some loveable characters and good age appropriate humour.

paddypants13 · 28/07/2016 12:24
  1. 3

  2. My daughter did seem hugely interested the first time I put the dvd on. However, she has since asked for it several times so it obviously did catch her imagination. She likes it when Digby tries to fly and when he shouts woo hoo! She liked the slap stick element oc the show very much. I liked the fact that the characters use proper English! I thought the characters were funny and likeable. I found the animation a little bit jerky in places. My daughter now hopes to grow up to be a dragon so she can learn to fly! I really like the theme tune and the setting.

  3. Digby is my daughter's favourite character because he's funny and flies high over the sea. She doesn't like Grizzell, she thinks she's mean.

  4. 4/5 from both of us.

  5. Yes, would recommend it. I didn't find it as repetative as some children's programmes and there are no irritating characters. I also liked the variety of storylines.

Thank you Nick Jr for giving us something to do on a rainy day in the 6 weeks holiday. Despite expecting my 6 year old to think he was too grown up for it, he really enjoyed both Digby Dragon and the activity pack.

1.What are the ages of your DCs that watched Digby Dragon?
Six and one, although the one year old wandered off and did other things.

2.What is your overall summary of the new TV show?
Cute dragon and his friends who have small adventures and run in to calamities along the way.

3.What was your DCs favourite part of the programme? Who was their favourite character?
DS really liked the squirrel, Chips. His favourite part of the programme was where there was a train powered by a motorbike engine.

4.Out of 5, how many stars would you give Digby Dragon? How many would your DC give it? (where 1 = did not enjoy at all and 5 = really enjoyed it)
I asked DS and he said it was 5 out of 5, so who am I to argue?

5.If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Digby Dragon? Why?
I would recommend it as a programme that would probably appeal to children from age 2-6, its not always easy to find a program that would be suitable for both younger and slightly older children. I also think it would appeal to boys and girls equally.
