Sony say “an X-Moment is a split second in time that means something to you that’s here and then gone. It could be a baby’s first steps, achieving a personal goal, a sporting achievement, your dog’s whimsical expression, or just a random flash of happiness and hilarity. It’s a moment that you’d love to capture perfectly that’s all too missable if you, or your phone isn’t up to the job” (if you tweet your photo using the #WhatsYourX hashtag - the best ones will be retweeted by the @SonyXperiaGB handle!)

Testers – please share on this thread – after the hangout briefing – your responses to the following questions.

First impressions
• Tell us about your first impressions, how have you found the set up process?
• How did you find the user interface?
• What have you done with the device so far?
• Have you taken any photos or videos?

• Have you just made calls and sent texts?
• What are you most looking forward to trying out?

Photography Challenge

Sony want to challenge people to make the most of the Xperia X’s innovative smart capture and object tracking camera technology to photograph life’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments, or X Moments.

For Sony, an X Moment is ‘a split second in time that means something to you that’s here and then gone. It could be a baby’s first steps, achieving a personal goal, a sporting achievement, your dog’s whimsical expression, or just a random flash of happiness and hilarity. It’s a moment that you’d love to capture perfectly that’s all too missable if you, or your phone isn’t up to the job”.

Please share the X Moment photos you have taken with the Xperia on this thread and explain what happened/ the background to the photo!

Final Review
Once you’ve had a couple of week’s testing the Xperia X and playing around with the features, they’d love to see a more in depth evaluation of the handset.

~ Did your first impressions change over time?
~ Did you like the look and feel of the device?
~ Was the user interface natural and simple to use?
~ How does the Xperia X compare with previous phones you’ve had?
~ Did you find the device easy to make calls and send messages?
~ What were some of your favourite features of the phone?
~ How did you find the Xperia X’s camera?
~ Were photos taken on the Xperia X less blurry than those taken on other devices?
~ Would you recommend the device to your friends and family?

Thanks!

Non-tester.
I had an 'X-moment' a few weeks ago. We were in a friend's garden on a sunny afternoon, the children were all playing under a large sheet that the adults were holding up high to create a tent then floating up in the air. I looked across at the children - they all looked so happy, pure joy on their faces as they jumped around, laughing. I wished I had my phone to take a picture.

First impressions
•Tell us about your first impressions, how have you found the set up process?

It talked me through it wonderfully, step by step! Very user friendly

•How did you find the user interface?
Easy to use. Not disimilar to IOS, everything is pretty easy so far

•What have you done with the device so far?
Read books, taken photos and videos, downloaded every day apps like banking, set up my fingerprint access, played with photo editor, used FB and twitter, what sapped and text and called.

•Have you taken any photos or videos?
Yes tons. Have loved the camera and memory.

•Have you just made calls and sent texts? Nope, done loads!

•What are you most looking forward to trying out?
The camera functions, especially when I'm on holiday. I haven't had a decent holiday, or camera phone, for years!

My X moment was when my DD (about 4 at the time) bit into her first ever doughnut and discovered jam inside. Her face said 'wow, how did that get there?' all over it.

VilootShesCute · 13/07/2016 22:29

Non tester. My x moment definitely seeing my dh's face when I proposed. Wish I had secretly filmed it.

purplepandas · 13/07/2016 22:35

Definitely dd's first steps. We waited a long time for those.

Fibonaccied · 14/07/2016 17:33

A photo of both my children, cuddling each other and looking like they really love each other. I come from a family which is mostly at war with each other. The fact that we seem to have raised two children who really love each other is one of my proudest achievements. They even choose each other to do things with as they are friends too.

(But, they are teens so get annoyed with me if I even mention it).

shewhomustbeEbayed · 14/07/2016 19:46

Non tester, my X moment was a friend catching a photo of my daughter and I at a friend's party, we had the same smile and looked so alike, I treasure it.

I wish I could capture one of the times when one of my sons suddenly stops and hugs their brother and says I love you. It is at random moments, usually when we are walking somewhere, and is very sweet. I would love to have a video of this moment.

marsybum · 15/07/2016 00:33

Tell us about your first impressions, how have you found the set up process?

So now I have a replacement phone ive now set it up, I already had an Xperia z3 compact so knew what to expect, I did find that transferring data from one to the other took longer than I expected, though I was on the office WiFi rather than my home network - it did reach 100% and stuck there though, I had to cancel it to get it moving again. It seems nice enough, got the black this time so not as pretty as the rose gold but I'm putting it in a case so the colour doesn't really matter. I did like that all my Google stuff came over ok like my photos. I'm a bit disappointed its not waterproof that feels a bit of a step backwards from the z3 which is almost 2 years old, I like playing music in the bath and worry about water damage from steam.

•How did you find the user interface?
I've always use android so it's as I expected - I did like the set up feature though this would be especially good for someone new to android/Xperia
•What have you done with the device so far?
Loaded all my apps from my old phone, made since calls and texts and downloaded pokemon go which the kids are loving
•Have you taken any photos or videos?
No not yet
•Have you just made calls and sent texts?
No have a number of apps
•What are you most looking forward to trying out?
I wish I had been able to make the rescheduled hangout as i would have liked to know how to make the best of the camera features, I take most of my pics on a sony bridge camera so im looking forward to a bit of mixing and matching to compare pictures, we plan to go to a local farms summer fayre and duck race on Saturday so that should be a good opportunity to put it through its paces.

Catsgowoof · 15/07/2016 14:14

Today my three year old was sad so my two year old cuddled her to make her feel better. It was really sweet but by the time I'd thought of capturing the moment it had gone.

Uzma01 · 16/07/2016 09:47

Non-tester: my x-moments revolve around my youngest's antics. He turned one last weekend and has already started getting confident with moving around - perhaps to catch up with his older siblings. He went from crawling backwards to forwards, standing up, cruising & moving between furniture in a matter of a few weeks. Can't wait to capture more action shots of him!Grin

Andbabymakesthree · 17/07/2016 09:26

Birth of my children. No photos! Im tempted by a birth photographer as I want my partner and i focussed on our next babies birth.

Belmo · 18/07/2016 12:36

My X moment - when my 10 week old grins at his big sister, who just adores him Smile

Ntinyn · 18/07/2016 15:39

Non tester. When my DD said I love you to me and gave me a kiss and cuddle. Priceless.

Best x-moment ......... The smile on my daughters face after surgery when she woke up to see her mummy and daddy there. She was so brave and despite being in extreme pain, tried to make us laugh by wearing the sick bowl on her head like a hat! She looked adorable. She's only 5 and yet she was trying to make sure we were OK. Priceless!

I had an x-moment a few weeks ago when my daughter won a prize at the school swim gala for 'life-saver of the year' - she's really struggled with swimming and this was totally unexpected. Her face was a picture!

lollylaus83 · 19/07/2016 10:44

I absolutely love this pic of my boys in Switzerland, a real 'X - moment'!

two pictures that i took this wknd at a show.

1 is my son and dog, just a fun moment that we captured

the second is a fire performer. The sony x was the only phone there which managed to capture a picture without it being really blurry. I was surprised at how clear it was even though it was a moving shot and nearly dark.

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 19/07/2016 14:19

I have been using the camera mostly to play. With my cat and kids. The first pic was taken last week of my cat running towards me to play and the other is of my daughter today, playing in the sun. I'm especially pleased with how the camera has captured the splash!

GloGirl · 19/07/2016 14:20

Non tester - my X moment was taking a picture of both my children's first journey home with us in the car. Without a phone with us we wouldn't have been able to capture it.
