This is the feedback thread for the MNers who have been watching Amazon Prime Video with their families for a week.

Here’s what Amazon have to say: ‘Amazon Prime Video allows families to enjoy unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows. Anywhere, anytime. We are interested to find out what MNers who are already Amazon Prime Video users watch with their families, and what they like about it; as well as what content their kids watch and enjoy too. We want to know how Amazon Prime Video fits into your daily routine and why it is important to you and your family, particularly the ability to download and watch ad-free content on the move.’

Please post your feedback about Amazon Prime Video and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Amazon voucher.

Please answer these questions below, but also feel free to add your own comments:

  1. What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
  2. What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
  3. What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
  4. What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
  5. Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
  6. Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?

Thank you for taking part in the product test and good luck with the prize draw!

  1. What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
Creative Galaxy - DS aged 6 adores it. He says he likes it because he loves art and it's all about art.
  2. What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
They like Creative Galaxy, wishenpoof, and Just add magic, although I think this is slightly old for them (the other child is DD aged 4).
  3. What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
I like the Amazon kids' originals, there are some really good programmes, I have been really impressed.
  4. What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
We like the originality of the Originals programmes. I have to confess that we only watch for these programmes though, I find the Amazon Prime set up incredibly hard to navigate and use, so we do tend to stick to Netflix most of the time.
  5. Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
As above, Creative Galaxy, Wishenpoof, and Just Add Magic are popular here, I like that they seem new and fresh, the children like them because they are interesting and engaging. The characters on Just add magic wear too much make up though :-p
  6. Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?
I've paid for Amazon Prime for just over a year now, having had a few free trials. Its main benefit to me is the free next day delivery, I order about 4-5 times a month, so that aspect has paid for itself now. I don't watch much myself on Prime as I find it so difficult to navigate, so I do just see the video service as an added extra for the children to the 'main' reason I pay for the service.

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
We have been watching Nativity 3 - because obviously a Christmas movie in the summer is normal!

2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
DD enjoys watching films, she likes that there are lots of films on there and that she can pick a film/programme easily.

3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
The variety - there is something for everyone.

4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
There is lots to choose from. It is easy to navigate around the apps. I like that my account links across my phone, tablet, laptop and TV. The watchlist is handy too.

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
My DD (and DH and I!) enjoyed watching Just Add Magic and we are eagerly awaiting second series.
DD has enjoyed Tumbleleaf and Gortimer Gibbons too. Lego Friends is next on the watchlist!

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?
Prime membership is very important - I wouldn't manage Christmas or forgotten birthdays without it! The option to have delivery in a couple of days with a £1 voucher is a great idea because sometimes I can wait for delivery.
I like that we can share the Prime membership, my DH has his own account so he can benefit too which is great.
I wonder if you could join 2 accounts together because things like books on the kindle can only be accessed by the account holder which makes it twice as expensive to buy a book or we have to deregister and register kindles to access each other's library.
A monthly payment option would be good.

Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?

We like the different shows but would give it up before netflixs

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
I watched some of Just Add Magic with dd and was quite impressed. Other than that it's usually just watched by dd. Ds sneakily watches Lucifer with me sometimes too Blush
2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?

Tbh both dd and dd prefer Netflix and watch the app through prime. Dd does enjoy Just add Magic and the My Little Pony programmes but they both hate having to double check if something is paid for or prime, which they don't need to do on Netflix.

3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
I like the apportions for other platforms and I LOVED Lucifer and really hope there is a season two. I watch less content than I should as like the kids I just find it a pain to find stuff.

4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?

The fact that it's accessible on a number of devices and can't be use out the home.

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?

At 6 dd found Tumbleleaf too young, Wishenproof she thought was ok but a bit babyish she enjoys Just Add Magic. Ds (13) uses it to look for movies.
Both prefer Netflix, as do I as I can set separate accounts with appropriate viewing for each child.

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?

I'd spend more with Amazon if the Prime delivery actually fufilled its promise of next day delivery. It's really hit and miss and the Amazon couriers in our area are very very poor. Amazon customer care has become appalling of late so it's difficult to resolve late or missing items.

What I do like very much since it was accessible on Sonos it the Orime music, that's very good as part of prime. Not worth the £79 alone, but a great feature.

Ultimately I signed up to prime for the delivery, and it hasn't been worth it. If that improved I would confine subscribing for the whole package. But I wouldn't pay for the video alone as its competitors are that bit better.

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
Lego friends series 1
2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
They like having a choice of things to watch and having trailers so they can see if they'll like something
3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
Lots of choice
4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
I particularly like that I can pause something and return to it at any time on any device. Very useful for sending the DC upstairs with the promise if you brush teeth quickly, wash and get into bed Mummy will let you watch the last 10 minutes on my tablet.
5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
DD is currently lego friends obsessed and watches series 1 on loop. She likes that she can watch them over and over and over.

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?

I live in town but with an Autistic child, a child with very high anxiety, another child and a DH who commutes it's really hard to get to the shops. When DH does get home the last thing I want to do is go out. With Prime, I can buy everything online without being stung for postage. I recently tried PrimeNow for the first time as its come to our area and I'm a bit blown away.

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
Tumbleweed. Great family friendly and suitable for all of them in wind down to bedtime

2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
Wishenpoof, tumbleleaf - Adore Trapdoor - I'm enjoying reliving my own childhood watching it. Tom and Jerry, movies, on prime. The selection is endless - the only problem with four children is everyone getting s turn t pick wants nests

3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
Instant access to programmed and choice of movies

4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
Instant access to vast range of choices for film and tv - can pick something different every day
5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
Have watched tumbleleaf and wishenpoof, haven't tried jaunt add magic but based on what I've read here must definitely try. Mine are 6,5 and 3 and I'd say oldest is just about losing interest in that they are for the younger age group but love the 'innocence' in the stories

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?
Very, wouldn't be without it. Order via Amazon constantly and love the next day delivery - so handy and makes life so much easier

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?

The Secret Garden. Just a real classic that was lovely to share with my daughters. They don't like anything too scary, but we like to put a film on at the weekend.

2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?

They have watched all 5 seasons of Winx Club, quite obsessively. They will 're-watch them again and again as well. It's fairies, just the right amount of scariness, lots of fashion and pop music etc. They're very girly girls so anything with fairies in gets their immediate attention.

Oh and the Descendants. They watched that hundreds of times too.

3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
Lots of things- the recommendations, ability to buy and download new movies rather than getting a DVD. Probably the favourite thing is the fact you can use different devices and it still keeps your place, so I can pause it on the Xbox, walk into a different room and play it on the kindle.

4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
As above really, also there's a good selection on there, so suits all of us even though are viewing tastes are very different.

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?

They quite liked Wishenpoof, but I think they watched it a while ago and there weren't many episodes. They prefer series that they can binge watch. Not sure about the others.
(DH and I have really enjoyed some of the Amazon originals for adults... Lucifer was a favourite)

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?

As well as Prime Video, we use prime all the time for next day delivery. It's really handy, neither DH nor I enjoy shopping, so it's really easy just to order things knowing they'll arrive the next day.

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
Man of Steel. Easy to access!
2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
My DCs watched Justice League, but we felt it was a bit old, so now they watch Young Justice League, plus Batman and Rescuebots.
3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
That the content is readily available at all times. It's a shame, though, that there isn't a way to only see the Amazon Prime free content. It's frustrating to trawl through with the DC, and have to keep telling them that no, we can't have that one because I'm not paying for it.
4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
Again, that it's available at all times, and there is a fairly decent range of content.
5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
Haven't come across any of the above, but might check them out. Have seen the ones I listed above. My DC love superheroes/action-type content, so they gravitate towards those.
6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?
It's convenient rather than important. Having one-day delivery, when available, is probably the highlight for us, but we do like having access to Prime Video content when it's convenient for us.

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it? Little Big Awesome - we all found it really funny and really unusual.
2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why? They have been enjoying the pilots, like Little Big Awesome and Toasty Tales as well as films like Paddington, Two by Two and House of Magic
3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video? I love that you can watch loads of amazing films and tv series all inclusive and you can discover things that you have missed before. I love watching "box sets" and really getting into a series and this is the perfect way.
4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family? There is loads of family friendly programmes and films and there are new things coming up all the time.
5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them? We haven't watched any of the established series, only the pilots and we are really enjoying them and can't wait to watch Toasty Tales and Little Big Awesome if they are made into full series, but we'll be gutted if they aren't!
6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why? I love Amazon Prime. I used to be a LoveFilm member and then left for a while when they upped the charges and added the postage, but now I find that I order so much from Amazon, the monthly fee pays for itself and so the tv and films are an added bonus, along with the music and early deals. It's great!

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
We have a movie and pizzas night every Sunday, and watched Songs of the Sea together, it was fabulous. She wants it again already! Since then, she has watched cartoons on her own... Mainly My Little Pony!

2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
My Little Pony, Winx, Team Umizoomi, Disney movies are all firm favourites.

3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
I like that it's advert free. I don't have terrestrial TV as I couldn't afford the TV license when I moved, so I like that we can access good quality TV shows and films for half the price. I often use the 3-5 day delivery option for the £1 credit then buy movies etc with that. It's a nice treat.

4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
A wide range of programmes, on demand. I wish it were easier to find some of them though. It's simple to find recent offerings and popular programmes etc, but a bit harder to find the rest!

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
DD only watched Wishenpoof from those... Just Add Magic was 'too scary' (will try again in a year!) and she didn't like Tumbleleaf. I thought they were all really well made. She likes Wishenpoof a lot though and would really like another series!

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?
Really important. I live rurally, and am a single Mum. I don't get to 'pop out' to the shops, so the ability to order online once DD is asleep is invaluable. Especially pre Christmas!! I am quite organised and track prices and buy in advance, so it is a very cheap way of shopping for me, and the £1 credit is a lovely bonus.

  1. What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
Shaun the Sheep - I love the fact this appeals to the children, but is enjoyable to adults too. There are some very funny episodes in there and unlike a lot of kids TV, I can enjoy watching this with the children.

  2. What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
My younger two (3&4) enjoy watching Thomas the Tank Engine and Shaun the Sheep - both the episodes and longer feature films. My 6 year old has discovered something called Creative Galaxy which he's really enjoying at the moment.

  3. What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
That there is a great selection of TV and film for both the children and my husband and me. We often watch a film on Saturday nights, connecting the iPad to the television so we can watch on that. In the past we'd get a film on demand for about £4 a go so it's good that this is included for free with the Prime membership.

  4. What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
Huge selection of content available at no extra cost.

  5. Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
My youngest likes Bada Namu and Tumble Leaf. The episodes are short and simple, but promote learning whilst he's watching.

  6. Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?
Very important - the free next day delivery is great, particularly if I need something quickly and know I can get it quickly without having to pay delivery charges. It's worked out as very good value for money as I order a lot from Amazon, and they keep extending my membership by a month every time their (quite frankly awful) Amazon Logistics delivery service don't deliver on time - so it's worked out that I've had over two years membership for the price of one. I originally got Amazon Prime for the deliveries, but really liking the benefit of Amazon Prime Video now too.

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?

Jack The Giant Slayer - great movie enjoyed by both my 9th year old son and 40-something me.

2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?

We tend to watch the movies on Friday movie night. There is a much wider selection than Netflix and while not all are free, I like having the option to be able to hire online, as well as the access to the Prime "free" films. Compare to Netflix, this offers a much wider choice.

3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?

I personally like The Walking Dead, although I figured that this may be a bit too much for the 9yr old yet.

4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?

As above - the option to hire if required. And the Prime selection is so much wider than other providers (Netflix / Now TV both options I have tried)

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?

None. My child thinks he is 25. The thought of him watching kids programmes would fill him with horror, albeit to my amusement.

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?

I only have Prime Video membership, but have had full Prime in the past. It was very useful in term of expedited delivery, but as Amazon "supersaver" delivery times now seem to be < 3 days, I don't really see the need to pay extra for full Prime.

Prime films etc. to choose, no extra cost and can access anytime.

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
My children don't particularly like them. Girl age of 7 not interested in them and Boy age of 11 too old for the shows.

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?

We go it initially for free and instant delivery, however we quite like prime as we can usually find something for the children to watch or will top up and order a film they really want once a month if we can afford it.
We will often browse ourselves in the evening for a show to watch.

The convenience and the Amazon package as a whole. I love the movie/tv show selection and same day delivery on orders.

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?

I'd be lost without Amazon especially on world book character day. When I've realised that I'd left it until last minute to buy a costume, but thankfully I can just order on Amazon and get it delivered later that day. It's also a livesaver for buying homework materials such as poster board etc at last minute.

1.What was the last thing you watched with your kids on Amazon Prime Video and what did you like about it?
Probably Teen Titans, Penguins of Madagascar or Kung Fu Panda as even the grown ups find them funny. Because of the pin, I know I can leave them watching many of their favourites while I cook tea. I did enjoy watching Just Add Magic & Gortimer Gibbons with them as reminded me of Eerie Indiana from my youth.

2.What do your kids enjoy watching on Amazing Prime Video and why?
Teen Titans, Ninjago, My Little Pony, Penguins of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, Spongebob - both love comedy animation. Daughter loves abit more adventure/plot - Avatar, Legends of Korra, Just Add Magic, Gortimer Gibbons.

3.What is your favourite thing about Amazon Prime Video?
The combination of free older stuff, exclusive content & buying/renting films and boxsets. Handy on family film night and currently enjoying season 6 of Game of Thrones when the kids are in bed following Amazon video purchase.

4.What makes Amazon Prime Video appealing to you and your family?
In control of when they/we can watch something. No excuse not to turn off tv as will be there later/tomorrow. There is a content pin so know that they cannot accidentally watch something inappropriate.

5.Tumbleleaf, Wishenpoof!, and Just Add Magic are Amazon Kids' originals available only on Amazon prime - which Amazon Prime Kids' shows have you/your kids watched and what did you/your kids like about them?
Son (6) loved Tumbleleaf. Daughter (9) loved Just Add Magic (she is the clumsy ginger haired one) and is eager for season 2. Also loved Gortimer Gibbons. The grown ups looking forward to Mr Robot season 2 and next episode of Preacher. Keep the original content coming. Please can we have more Red Oaks and Bosch.

6.Amazon Prime Video is one of many benefits included in Amazon Prime membership - how important is Amazon Prime membership to you and why?
I shop a lot for work so the free next day delivery very useful also handy when birthdays creep up on you and need last minute present especially when kids get party invitations last minute.

I had flu during the testing period so the DCs' father was in charge. He refused to let them watch anything on amazon prime video (unless he chose it) as he says it's easy for a child to select something that is charged for (and he would have to pay the bill).

That put the children off it somewhat, as they didn't want someone else choosing what to watch for them.

Sorry I can't give more full feedback on this occasion.

  1. The last programme we watched was tumbleleaf. I think it's a beautifully made programme and I like that it's not too long/short.

  1. My son likes to watch fireman Sam, Thomas and friends and tumbleleaf. I think they must appeal to his sense of adventure. He often likes to pretend that he is rescuing someone from danger. I asked him why he liked tumbleleaf and he said he likes the shipwreck and the slide.

  1. My favourite thing about Amazon video is that there is a vast amount of different programmes and films, so I can always find something I want to watch depending on what mood I'm in. My one criticism is that some programmes within a series show up as having to be paid for/rented, and yet another series of the same programme is free.

  1. As above really. There is great choice for everyone. I didn't watch many of the tv series to begin with, I mostly used it for my son. But I think the choice has got better and we particularly enjoyed Bosch and Mr. Robot.

  1. Just add magic seemed a bit old for my son (5) and we haven't watched wishenproof yet, but tumbleleaf has been a hit in this house. He likes the shipwreck and the slide. It's not too long so it keeps his attention.

  1. Prime membership is important to us as we have little time for shopping and the option of next day delivery is so handy. I did debate whether we really needed it when the price was increased but I now think it's worth it.
