This is the feedback thread for the 500 Mumsnetters who tested Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate.

Here’s what Comfort has to say: “We are pleased to launch the NEW Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate. Following our fantastic launch of Comfort Intense last year, we were keen to offer an extension of this format suitable for sensitive skin. Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate offers the same loved fragrance, amazing softness and performance as Comfort Pure, number 1 laundry brand for sensitive skin*, but from just a tiny dose! Just one cap (15ml) is needed in your washing load and comes in a convenient small pack, either 38 washes or 64 washes from most major retailers. Incredible softness, from just a tiny dose!”

*Based on AC Nielsen, MAT value sales, 19/03/16.

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
I always use comfort pure, I don't like the smell of other fabric conditioners. The smell seems to be the same as the old stuff!

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I like the smell.
I'm not keen on the new bottle, I find the lid fiddly and the bottle is slidy/slippery. I haven't dropped it yet but I've got a feeling I will at some point. I know that smaller bottles are more environmentally friendly but I miss the old bottles, the lids were better too.

MintyBojingles · 07/05/2016 20:54

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
pretty good, seems the same as the old comfort pure which I usually use for sensitive skin, but in a conveniently smaller bottle.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
Smaller bottle takes up less space, fabrics feel nice and soft, however smell seems more subtle. Not convinced I'd get as many washes per bottle.

AuntieMaggie · 07/05/2016 21:09

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Loved the small bottle, smell and the spout (though I didn't see it cos I didn't look properly before trying to pour it into the cap so made a mess Blush) - looks like a lovely product.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I liked the smell though it was a bit stronger than I'm used to when I took it out of the machine. Was lovely when it was dry though. Clothes were lovely and soft. I liked the spout cos it made it easier to use a small amount rather than just slopping loads in like I usually do. And the size of the bottle meant it fits nicely in my cupboard rather than on my kitchen side. I've done several loads of washing with it so far and I like it enough to buy it in future.

thisismee · 07/05/2016 21:13

Opening the bottle I loved the smell of the comfort pure. I found I poured out the correct amount using the cap , I always use too much normally. Due to the small bottle I was more conscious of not using too much.

I didn't think there was much of a fragrance to the clothing onced washed, in comparison to comfort blue skies that I usually use. However the clothes were very fresh and soft.

Thank you for the chance to try it, will definitely use this for my baby's washing now .

bibbitybobbityyhat · 07/05/2016 21:56

Ok, I have used the product on two washes now and would say:

Q1. What was your overall impression

Like the dinky little bottle, like the cap and pouring spout, like the fact that it is still recognisable as Comfort Pure from the packaging.

Q2. What did you like/dislike ...

Didn't dislike anything.

Liked the fact that it still smells the same as the Comfort Pure I know and love and also very much liked that a little really does go a long way. I live in a hard water area and have a large machine, but I still only needed to use one capful.

Would buy again, and could you make sure all your other Comfort Products are concentrated like this please?

Ohwoolballs · 07/05/2016 22:12

First impressions - smaller bottle is easier to transport and store. The logo and label have the trusted design on it which instantly recognisable.
First wash - I measured out the recommended amount (I do normally just slosh it in without measuring) was just baby clothes which after washing smelt lovely but the smell all but disappeared after drying on a rack. Nice and soft vests and sleepy suits though.
The second load was mostly towels and I did just put in as much Comfort as I normally would. This meant the towels had a stronger scent after drying but weren't any softer than usual (I normally use Comfot Sensations) though maybe I need to invest in a tumble dryer to get super fluffy towels.

Because I normally wouldn't measure out fabric softener it would get expensive to keep using an ultra concentrate. Maybe if the bottle had a built in measure, like a spirit optic in a pub, I would stick to the recommended dose. (I feel like I've just given an idea I should patent 😉)
Since I normally buy my fabric softener when it's on offer I can see myself buying the Comfort Pure as it does get promoted.
I will keep buying it for my baby's washing loads as he has sensitive skin. Probably would just use the stuff I get on offer (normally Comfort) for the rest of the loads though.

soapboxqueen · 07/05/2016 22:20

I have used the product in a few washes with various clothing, towels and blankets.

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

I liked the small bottle and was surprised that the concentrated formula wasn't thicker. This made is easier to pour and measure out. It worked just as well as my usual softener.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I disliked (and I appreciate this is beyond trivial) that I could only pour from the spout one way as I seem to, without fail, pick the bottle up the wrong way and have to switch it around.

Esoresila · 07/05/2016 22:49

I have done 4 loads of washing with this including bedsheets, a white wash and a dark wash.
**
**Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Firstly I was surprised at how small the bottle was...no way was there 38 washes in this little bottle?! Secondly I was surprised at the highly concentrated fragrance it certainly was very very pleasent!
I thought the liquid might be a bit thicker as it was ultra concentrated but alas no it was just like a 'normal' fabric conditioner.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
The size of the bottle, as I don't drive I am limited to what I can carry home so compact sized bottles appeal to me!
The fragrance is twice as bolder even though it's smaller!
The clothes are soft and smell lovely my neighbour commented on how nice my laundry smelt while it was drying on the line!
The clothes still smelt good while I was ironing them!
I like the style of the bottle and especially the count down bubble on the side!

Very very impressed Comfort, can't wait for other fragrances in this range!!

squeezed · 07/05/2016 23:26

Q1: No real difference with the product and my usual brand. Liked the smell and softness of the clothes.
Q2: I like the reduced packaging and product needed. There is limited storage in my house every little bit helps. Some members of my family have sensitive skin and the change didn't aggravate them so I would continue to use it.

afromom · 08/05/2016 00:23

Q1. I used mine today to wash the towels and bath mats. They are definitely nice and soft and there is a pleasant smell. The drawer on the washing machine was clean after the wash too, some of the cheaper (more colourful) ones leave some residue or staining in the washer drawer.
Q2. The softened is great and the size of the bottle is good for storage. I wouldn't say o like the smell as much as the softener I normally use, I prefer a more floral scent, but DP thought it smelt less 'girly' so he was pleased!
Overall I would probably buy it again, but would select a different fragrance if available.

MsMims · 08/05/2016 01:22

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Really good, liked the compact bottle and ease of storage. Was already a fan of the scent as this is my usual choice of fabric conditioner.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

Liked the smaller sized bottle, easy to manoeuvre and store. Only dislike would be the RRP when I can get a 3L bottle of this scent on offer for about £3.

Allice · 08/05/2016 06:21

1,
I liked that the bottle was compact, the spout and measuring lid were good too. I did struggle to get the lid off at first but that's fairly typical for me.

2,
There is nothing about this product that I disliked, the fragrance was nice in the bottle but not too strong on the clothes which is what I prefer. My clothes didn't feel any softer than with my normal softener but that is Comfort too so probably wouldn't expect it to be!

maddiemostmerry · 08/05/2016 06:28

Q1 Overall impression

I liked the fragrance, it reminded me of baby powder or violets. It isn't as strong as my usual fabric conditioners scent. The bottle size would be ideal for a holiday(we are a large family). Clothes dreied soft and lightly fraganced.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I liked the smell and product generally. I did find the spout a bit fiddly and it had to be aligned correctly to pour. I think my mum would find the bottle difficult to hold and pour.

I would buy on special offer, as i do for all fabric conditioners. I usually buy comfort or lenor blue or Tesco yellow.

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 08/05/2016 07:21

My overall impression?
I liked it, clothes smelt fresh & felt soft

Likes:
Small size is handy to store - would have like clearer labelling in the cap to show how much to measure out each time

Dislikes:
Although it says there is no need to dilute, I found it left residue in my washing machine softener drawer if I didn't add extra water

Caillou · 08/05/2016 07:55

I was quite impressed by the size of the bottle when it arrives, I was expecting a bottle a lot bigger than this for the amount of washes. I think it is a great idea if you don't have much storage space.

I liked the smell too, stronger than the normal version as concentrated but not overpowering.

I think it worked the same as the normal version, I didn't notice anymore softness or smell than usual.

I think at £3.30 for a 38 washes, it is a bit expensive but then i always buy my fabric conditioner when on offer. If that product was on offer, I will most likely buy it.

strongswans · 08/05/2016 08:12

I liked the size and design of the bottle, the liquid was easy to pour and it didn't take up to much cupboard space. My clothes felt softer than with other brands and the scent was nice, not very strong which is what you would want on a younger child/babies clothing. I prefer other scents so would use the product with a different scent. I do feel my wash needed more than the recommended amount of softener though. Maybe this is water hardness.

Overall I like the product and I do feel there is a difference between it and less expensive brands. I will be continuing to use it myself in the future.,

Ratbagcatbag · 08/05/2016 08:28

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

It was good, I usually use comfort pure anyway so this was a direct comparison. It had a much stronger scent in the bottle than the bigger bottle version, however although on the washing line the scent was still there once clothes were put away I could hardly tell. This may suit some people as it's very subtle but I do like the fresh smell to last a few days.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I dislike how flimsy the bottle is, to hold it right for the pouring spout meant actually I spilled a small amount.
I like how little I had to use, although saying that I would probably end up doubling the dose to see if I could get the fragrance to last longer. My clothes felt slightly softer than normal, which is an achievement as line drying (rather than tumble drying) normally makes them less soft so I'm impressed with that.
I like how how small the bottle is, it's a lot easier to store. In terms of buying, I think I'd happily flit between the two products depending on price/offers etc.

Thanks for letting me test it.

DatsunCogs · 08/05/2016 08:52

I use the normal comfort pure.

This one smells and performs like the original - a good thing.

Bottle is smaller - a good thing.

I'm happy with it and would use it, if I could fault anything it would be that the measure lid only goes upto 6 kilos, my machine takes an 8 kilo load. Obviously I bunged a bit more in but perhaps a guideline for a half measure? Anyway, I like it.

PeaceLoveAndJaffaCakes · 08/05/2016 09:07

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
I like the compact bottle. I usually use regular Comfort Pure which is heavy and bulky.
I didn't notice any difference between the regular and the concentrated product with regards to scent and effect on washing.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
The plastic packaging is very thin and it's easy to accidentally squeeze the bottle, spilling product. I also didn't like that the spout is one way, as half the time I was holding the bottle the wrong way around.

katienana · 08/05/2016 09:18

I use comfort pure anyway so didn't notice a difference in the smell. I really like the size of the bottle as I usually buy a large bottle which takes up storage space and can be a bit unwieldy to lift.
I have a 10 day old baby abs a 3 year old so I'm sure we'll get through 38 washes in no time!

PeaceLoveAndJaffaCakes · 08/05/2016 09:20

Katienana you should be finished by this evening Grin

crazycakelady · 08/05/2016 09:36
  1. I liked the product overall. It smelled quite nice and left my towels really fluffy.
  2. The smell didn't last very long once the clothes were put away, which is a shame as I love the fresh smell that they came of the wash with. I liked the size of the bottle.
Smize · 08/05/2016 09:48
  1. Liked the packaging, compact size easier to transport and store and better for environment. 'Pure' branding and white packaging would have particularly appealed to me when my children were babies.
  1. Liked the compact packaging as above and liked that softener was white and didn't clog up dispenser drawer.
I prefer softeners with a stronger scent. Washing was dried outside and didn't notice any fragrance on clothes afterwards and weren't as soft as when I use my usual yellow comfort. I will probably use a bigger dose in my next wash so not convinced it lives up to the promise of "incredible softness from a tiny dose". Thanks for selecting me to test this product Smile
Gazelda · 08/05/2016 10:49

I liked the packaging, and the size is great for my tiny cupboard. I loved the smell, it was quite 'natural,' and subtle. Not an overpowering synthetic scent. It was no better or worse as a softner, I was happy with the outcome.
I think I'll buy this product again as it ticks all my (laundry) boxes.

JennyWreny · 08/05/2016 11:52

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Great, same as I always use but smaller!

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I liked that it took up less space on my worktop and it would be lighter when shopping. I disliked the cap and felt it was a bit fiddly and with no ridges on it, it might be difficult for people who have problems gripping things to open it.

Thanks for asking me to test this.
