This is the feedback thread for the 500 Mumsnetters who tested Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate.

Here’s what Comfort has to say: “We are pleased to launch the NEW Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate. Following our fantastic launch of Comfort Intense last year, we were keen to offer an extension of this format suitable for sensitive skin. Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate offers the same loved fragrance, amazing softness and performance as Comfort Pure, number 1 laundry brand for sensitive skin*, but from just a tiny dose! Just one cap (15ml) is needed in your washing load and comes in a convenient small pack, either 38 washes or 64 washes from most major retailers. Incredible softness, from just a tiny dose!”

*Based on AC Nielsen, MAT value sales, 19/03/16.

Overall - I like it and most importantly it doesn't irritate my daughters extra sensitive eczema skin.
Dislike - not a very strong smell but guessing this is part of making it suitable for sensitive skin?

Pumperthepumper · 11/05/2016 17:28

I liked the smaller bottle for saving space in the kitchen.

However I wasn't very keen on it. It didn't make my washing any softer so I had to add more than the recommended amount which gummed up my machine a bit. I had to pour hot water into the drawer to clean it out. Plus that makes it much more expensive because a bottle would only last 15 washes.

Thanks for letting me try it though!

thunderpunt · 11/05/2016 18:01

Let me start by saying I am normally a copious fabric conditioner user - I always use way more than I should because I love to really smell the fragrance (which gums up the machine good and proper so regularly have to clean out the drawer)
However for this test I am sticking rigidly to the measurements so its a fair test

Q1) Overall impression? Immediately recognisable as Comfort branding, and being white you know its going to be the non-iritating/hypo allergenic stuff - so far so good. Interested to see its a smaller bottle - hard pushed to believe I would get 38 washes out of it (and I wouldn't, that's based on a small load of washing - how many people only wash 4-5kgs at a time?) I would prefer to see how many washes for a large wash on the front of a bottle as that's more realistic to my mind. Overall impression good to look at.

  1. What did I like/Dislike? Why? I loved the size of the bottle, I thought concentrated fabric conditioner already existed but apparently not this concentrated. Great space saving size. I used the recommended dose, in the bottle the fragrance was lovely, while drying (indoors as was raining) the smell was very pleasant. Once dry however the smell was not as strong as I would have liked. However that may fit with the sensitive skin side of things - I wouldn't usually buy a 'pure' conditioner. In terms of softness - there was no noticeable difference to my normal conditioner (lenor or comfort blue depending on special offers) We do live in a particularly hard water area so I think that probably has an effect. Nothing really to dislike - other than the price point (think I saw on the survey it would be somewhere around £3.30? or have i made that up??) i am afraid my fabric conditioner purchase often comes down to whats on offer. So done thing I would pay full price for it.
seasidethrills · 11/05/2016 18:35

I really liked the smell this fabric softener and i felt it did make my clothes feel softer.

The pouring spout was really well designed to measure out the correct amount an prevent dripping down the side of the bottle. I liked having a smaller bottle to store and felt the concentrated product did the job just as well.

Thanks for letting me try it.

Roseformeplease · 11/05/2016 18:48

The small size of the bottle, the smell and the fact that it did not trigger eczema were all brilliant.

Roseformeplease · 11/05/2016 18:48

Sorry, didn't dislike anything. Really pleased I got to test this as I am totally converted. Thanks.

ThisUserNameIsAlreadyTaken · 11/05/2016 19:10

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Nice small bottle easy to store away.
pleasant neutral smell.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I quite like the pouring spout.
I also know that DS won't react to this.

I couldn't see any obvious marking on the lid for quantity so pouring was a bit of guessing game.

Also the wash calculation is based on a small machine, whereas I have a fairly normal sized one for nowadays at 7kgs, I think and this bottle won't last 30 odd washes.

artlessflirt · 11/05/2016 20:11
  1. Overall impression was good. Attractive and compact bottle, although I'm unsure if I'd get as many washes out of it as stated on the bottle - but I suppose time will tell!
  1. I like the spout, it's very neat and goes some way to combatting any spillage or little bits running down the size of the bottle. However, if you're not used to it and pour it from the wrong end it can be a bit messy!! It smelled a lot stronger going in than it did when the clothes came out. I like my fabric conditioner a bit stronger smelling, but can understand why it's not very strong as it's kind on the skin. We haven't had any skin problems with this one, and clothes feel very soft, which is lovely.
Susan74 · 11/05/2016 20:23

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Its great, smells lovely and, surprisingly, strong for the amount used. Leaves my clothes soft and I trust the brand enough to know it's being gentle on my children's skin.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I like the bottle size as it doesn't take up too much room in my cupboard. I like the aroma, it's clean and fresh. There isn't anything I don't like!!! 💕💕

SteadyHand · 11/05/2016 20:33
  1. I used the same amount of product as I normally would, and I found that I was happy with the results, in that my clothes were very soft.

  2. I was happy with the product, and my clothes were very soft afterwards and the smell was lovely.

TomHaverford · 11/05/2016 21:16

I really liked it! I normally use Fairy non Bio conditioner but found this made the clothes much softer and only had to use a tiny cupful.

Only thing I didnt like was the shape of the bottle. For some reason I found the tiny cap on the large bottle quite odd looking...or maybe its just me!

vickipickernicker · 11/05/2016 21:17

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product? OK but didn't offer anything different/better to my usual brand

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why? would like the smaller bottle if the concentrated version provided a stronger smell on washed clothes.

Belmo · 11/05/2016 21:17

I don't usually use fabric softener but literally just had a baby so this came at a good time!

First impressions: like the bottle, it's cute! Easy to use. Liked the smell of the clothes straight out of the wash.

Q2: I liked the smell on wee baby clothes :) think they left them nice and soft. Don't usually use softener so can't say how it compares to other brands, but I'd definitely buy again. Like the fact it'll use less packaging, too.

ReedBunting · 11/05/2016 21:42

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
Really good, except for cap design as I found it hard to open and close due to its shape. But other than that very well done.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I really liked the smell of clothes straight out of the wash but found that it dissipated more than my usual brand when I dried clothes outside on the line. Conversely when clothes were dried in the tumble drier the smell lingered for longer. So I would probably use more over the winter when we dry clothes indoors. Clothes and bedding were left very soft - noticably so.
I liked the small size bottle especially with regard to minimising packaging and cost of shipping etc. But I think the tendency would be to overuse the product - as it is easier to simply pour directly from the bottle into the washing machine dispenser than into the lid first.
The mini pouring spout was great. Loved that as reduced chances of spills.
I found the cap hard to open and close, especially with wet hands due to the shape of the sides.

Would I buy it in the future? I tend to buy fabric softener in bulk when there is a good offer going, so yes, but probably as part of a promotion.

WhenASuitcaseJustWontDo · 12/05/2016 06:23

Thanks for allowing me to trial this product.
Q1. I liked the fact that the bottle was so small; we have a small storage space so this fit in perfectly. Also, those with a bad back would find it easier to lift.
I couldn't believe how little product was needed for a wash and was surprised at how soft the washed clothes were. Especially the children's muslin clothes.
Q2. I liked the size of the bottle, and the softness of the washed clothes. I wasn't keen on the spout initially as I immediately spilled some as I hadn't looked closely at it to discover how it worked. Minor problem though as I knew to adjust this for the other times I used it.
If it were for my husband and my use only,I would continue to buy this conditioner. Unfortunately, both my children's skin became noticeable drier; it seems to have reacted so I won't be buying it for the whole family.

itsnotfair10 · 12/05/2016 12:32

I like the smaller bottle as it doesn't take up so much space in the cupboard but Felt the lid wasn't very secure when placed on.

I did like the smell and it seemed to linger around the house after use which was nice. Noticed clothes were a little softer but not by much. Would probably use again

gregorsmummy · 12/05/2016 14:44

Liked the smaller bottle but the plastic casing was flimsy which meant aiming the nozzle is a bit tricky. I liked that the smell was not strong although I did not like that particular perfume. I did not notice a difference in the softness of my laundry, although I live in a soft water area, it may be more noticeable in a hard water area. I do think that the price is too high compared with other brands

lilmisslibrarian · 12/05/2016 15:08

Thank you for letting me try this product.

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
I was impressed with this product, it was a nice sized bottle and smelt lovely.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I loved the smell of this product, the spout was really handy too as I'm extremely clumsy and normally slop fabric softener everywhere! It left our clothes soft and smelling great. Would recommend and definitely use again.

waitingforgodot · 12/05/2016 15:57

I liked the fact it is gentle on my skin. I loved the smell and the size of the bottle fits really nicely into my kitchen cupboard. It made my sheets smell all lovely.

I didnt like the spout thing-the first time I used it, I was in a rush to get a wash on before running out the door and somehow managed to pour some onto the floor. It was probably my carelessness rather than a design flaw, but it made me a bit wary.

SeventyNineBottlesOfWine · 12/05/2016 15:59

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

I liked it. The conditioner smells amazing! I loved the smell of my clothes after washing them in this. I'll be buying more!

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

The only minor issue I have with it is the spout. It spilled and you have to be careful when you're pouring it.

k8vincent · 12/05/2016 16:00

What was your overall impression of the product?
Nice compact bottle - definitely easy to pour. Lovely smell which reminded me of my mum doing the washing. Ok, it wasn't overly strong but I have 3 boys and the odour was enough to cancel out theirs!

What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
No obvious itching from the 3 x sensitive skins in our household. I wouldn't say it was any softer than any other brand I have used. I'd like a little more clarity on amounts needed. My machine is an 8kg and I have already used up quite a lot - with 5 washes. I don't think I would spend that much on fabric softner, even for the gentle comfort smell!

DingleberryFinn · 12/05/2016 16:04

Overall impression - looked the same as the old, big equivalent... but doesn't take up so much room. I wasn't entirely convinced on first impressions that it would do as many washes as it claimed, but seems to be working out.

Liked/disliked: the smell wasn't the same as the old one? Seemed to perform as well, and left less residue in the washing machine drawer. So on balance, would be happy to switch if it was the same price.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 12/05/2016 16:06

I liked the scent.
I liked the smaller packaging - better for the environment and easier to store.
It didn't irritate my daughter's eczema.
I didn't notice much difference in the softness of the clothes.

letitgo1234 · 12/05/2016 16:11

Overall i really liked this i love the small bottle it makes it loads easier for storing and the scent was lovely smells just like the normal comfort pure which i use time to time i would buy this again but only a special offer price as i think the normal price is a bit steep especially as i dont bother measuring i just pour a capfull or more in so i get plenty of scent

PinkFlufff · 12/05/2016 16:15

First impression: I was really impressed with the size of the bottle, the smaller the better for us as we only have a small sink with a small area to store our cleaning products. Also, it's probably quite environmentally friendly as more can be transported on lorries (or however they get around to shops etc!) so lorries having to make less trips?

Instructions on how to use were clear and it was easy to get the right dose and pour it into the drawer.

I'm 37 weeks pregnant so thought I'd do my baby washing using this softener; all her blankets, bedding, clothes etc. Liked the subtle scent, especially for a baby as don't want anything too overpowering. Although subtle, the scent was lovely and every time I opened my linen closet I'd get a little waft of it. I wouldn't say the conditioner made the items any softer than other conditioners I've used but the bottle size and lovely scent were definite pluses and I would buy this product and use it again, especially for washing baby stuff.

Thank you for including me in this product test MN Smile
