This is the feedback thread for the 500 Mumsnetters who tested Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate.

Here’s what Comfort has to say: “We are pleased to launch the NEW Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate. Following our fantastic launch of Comfort Intense last year, we were keen to offer an extension of this format suitable for sensitive skin. Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate offers the same loved fragrance, amazing softness and performance as Comfort Pure, number 1 laundry brand for sensitive skin*, but from just a tiny dose! Just one cap (15ml) is needed in your washing load and comes in a convenient small pack, either 38 washes or 64 washes from most major retailers. Incredible softness, from just a tiny dose!”

What was your overall impression of the product?
I really liked it. It smelled stronger than the regular Comfort Pure, it had a lovely warm, comforting smell to it.

What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I liked the fresh smell and how I could still smell it on my washing several days after washing the clothes. Our clothes also felt very soft and comforting after using this conditioner.
There was nothing I disliked about this product

Hughpughbarneymagrew · 10/05/2016 20:24

I really liked the product. Our household has used Comfort Pure for years. I like the smell and I know it won't irritate anyone's skin or leave marks on clothes.

This concentrated version worked just as well as the original product. I liked the bottle design. I love the fact it's so much smaller. If this were around the same price per wash as the original then I would definitely switch.

pattimayonnaise · 10/05/2016 20:37

I found that on the first load of washing I did with this that the recommended amount wasn't quite enough. Some oft he clothes felt quite stiff. After that, I increased the amount slightly and it had the same effect as usual - although I used about half of the amount (compared to the non concentrate) in the machine.
I'm not overly keen on the scent, I prefer the stronger flowery ones - but that's just my personal preference! I'd use it again dependent on the price.

conkerpods · 10/05/2016 20:47

I like the product,it smelt lovely and I had similar results to usual softener.
I would have to look at the price compared to the regular Comfort before purchase though.

Sagethyme · 10/05/2016 20:58

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
Good; dinky bottle, easy to muse measure, clear instructions.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I liked the gentle fragrance which has lasted when clothes are in the wardrobe. Tumble dried and clothes hung indoors are soft. Clothes hung on the outside line, definitely not as soft as my usual conditioner, so maybe need to use a little more. I also liked the small size of the bottle. And the fact it's less plastic for the recycling bin. Apart from reduced softness on outside drying I have no other criticism of the product itself.

Holly0205 · 10/05/2016 21:50

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

It looks good and smells nice! But I found the measurements to be a bit off, I like my clothes to smell really fresh and I found using the cap was defiantly not enough.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I liked the smell and it was extra kinda to my babies skin and my eczema prone skin, even though it is concentrated I would rather buy the original and use more because it seems to smell more than this one.

IdaShaggim · 10/05/2016 21:52

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
I use normal Comfort usually, and really liked the smaller size of the bottle. Upon opening, I was a bit astonished by how strong the smell was... After washing though, I felt like the residual smell was weaker than the standard product. My washing machine drawers don't drain well, so for me the smaller amount was excellent.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
Liked the smaller size of the bottle, but found it harder to pour from as I am used to having a handle. Found the initial scent a bit overpowering, but liked the residual scent.

I only use Comfort, it's the iconic 'clean laundry' smell for me. I would happily buy this again, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it... Will just buy whatever is cheapest per wash. Thanks for the opportunity to test!

TrixieBernadette · 10/05/2016 21:55

First wash tonight!

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
Loved it. Use comfort pure usually, same smell but more concentrated and smaller bottle. Soft, kind to skin.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
Nothing

lucjam2105 · 10/05/2016 22:41

I quite liked it. I don't normally use any fc.

I liked the smell, liked the small bottle. the whole house smelt nice and the smell did last well.

I didn't like the way that the clothes felt a bit slimey. I started using a half dose and preferred it.

Not sure if I would buy it again.

JustKeepKnitting · 10/05/2016 22:46

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
More impressed than I thought I would be as we stopped using conditioner years ago due to irritation /the overpoweing fragrances, would definitely consider buying it in the future.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I liked that it didn't irritate our skin as previous fabric conditioners have. It was easy to use, and left clothes/ bed linen lovely and soft. There's only a hint of a smell and it's nice, not sickly and too strong.

jumie · 10/05/2016 22:58

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
A compact bottle and needing less product as concentrated.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I liked the smell of the fabrics after washing and the fact that the smell was not too strong. Clothes were also soft.

LadyFuchsiaGroan · 10/05/2016 23:45

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

The bottle was compact and I would be likely to buy a concentrated fabric softener.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

The spout made it a lot easier to pour, easier to measure the amount needed. Clothes were left feeling soft. As soon as this arrived the first thing I washed was my bedsheets and the smell lasted for 3 days, when I went into my bedroom I could really smell fresh bedding which I don't usually get with other types. I will definitely be buying this is future!

InWithTheOutlaws · 11/05/2016 00:51

Overall: Nice size of bottle, cap a bit of a fiddly shape and not an easy one to grip. I could have also done without the pouring spout personally.

Like/Dislike: I use the regular Comfort Pure and love it so my comparison is with that. I did 3 washes, the first a full load of 4-5kg with a half cap as suggested - I found the result quite underwhelming. The smell was very faint and I missed it, clothes were soft enough but nothing to write home about.

For the second wash I used a full cap on a similar load and that was much better in terms of softness though the smell again was not as evident as I like.

For the third load I did a half load and a full cap - this had a lovely scent and was soft as anything - but obviously not economical or used as a concentrate so missed it's USP a bit.

I like the idea - I just think it needs more scent.

LostInTheTriangle · 11/05/2016 06:03
  1. Overall impression was very positive.

  2. I liked the packaging and small bottle for storage. I liked the fragrance. The dispenser was mess-free and non-spill. I've always used Comfort, but with the stronger fragrances, so nice to try something more subtle. Clothes always need an iron if being dried on the line and were no more or less soft than my other bottle of comfort when I used the drier on a rainy day. The fragrance is more evident when using the tumble drier. I would definitely buy this if on special or if I was washing a baby's items of clothing/bedding etc.

AdmiralCLingus · 11/05/2016 08:40
  1. overall impression was really good. Clothes were soft and smelled lovely when they came out

  2. I liked the dosing cap as I'm prone to using far too much softener in the wash! The clothes smelled lovely when they came out and retained the smell when dry. I could still smell the conditioner on a top I washed last week and wore yesterday. Dd said she liked the smell of the usual softener better (also comfort) but she smelled "delicious like a baby" when she put on her nursery uniform this week!

prettycunning · 11/05/2016 09:15

I do like this product as it has a lovely smell and softens clothes but I do need to use more than the recommended amount

Birnamwood · 11/05/2016 09:27

Love the new smaller bottle, it now fits into the cupboard. The smell is great too, although a little overpowering to start but lessens after the wash.

Would definitely recommend.

Also, I've not used a fabric softener for ages and I'd forgotten how much easier it makes ironing, I think I'll have to carry on with it now

Herebemonsters · 11/05/2016 09:49

Overall impression- appealing bottle and packaging, pure, gentle.

I likeed the smaller bottle, compact and easy to store. Also liked the spout found it not as messy as pouring from an open, larger bottle

Scent- found scent very subtle- couldn't detect much of a smell from washed clothes. assume as aimed for baby/delicates.

I tend to get fabric softener that is on offer, would get this if it was.

poppy1973 · 11/05/2016 10:45

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

I loved the look of the design of the bottle, how small it was and thought that it was a great ideal having a concentrated product.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I did think the clothes were softer when I used this product. I was expecting a stronger fragrance and smell from the products when dry. I didn't get the nice smell, very bland smell when I left on the line and when I tumble dried. Bit disappointed about this.

CatThiefkeith · 11/05/2016 12:38

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

I liked the small bottle, but thought the packaging was a bit dull.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product?

The smell was lovely, but as pp's have mentioned you have to use a little more than recommended to get the full effect, which makes it quite expensive. I did however LOVE the fact that I barely had to iron dd's school shirts after using this product. I bloody hate ironing Grin

Weemargaret · 11/05/2016 12:43

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

I was surprised to see that such a small bottle should last for 38 loads. I have used this product before, in a bigger bottle and was pleased with it then and thought that this product gave very similar results. I might purchase it again if it was on offer as the recommended retail price seems quite expensive.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I liked that it didn't take up too much room in the cupboard and I really like the smell. I did notice a difference in my clothes when they came out of the washing machine in terms of softness and they smelled fresh and clean.

The only thing I disliked was the price it would sell at. I would always look for the best value in detergents and fabric conditioners and would always purchase the one where I'm getting better value for money.

Thanks for letting me try out this product!

shutzpa · 11/05/2016 14:13

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
Great product....love the smell

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
Great smell, great softness on our clothes

PippilottaViktualia · 11/05/2016 14:28

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Fairly positive - everything on the bottle was easy to read (I find it difficult to see the writing on some packaging). It was certainly a cute little bottle. Nice comforting smell, reminds me of my Stepmother doing washing when I was a child abroad.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why

I found the recommended dose not enough to make clothes particularly soft or scented once dry. If I doubled the recommended dose clothes nicely scented and soft.

The pour spout was a little awkward, but maybe I'm not used to it.

I think £3.30 is a fairly high price, especially with the fact I would use double. To be honest I will probably keep using the Lidl version of comfort due to the price. I'm not a particularly low earner but given it would last me half the washes advertised, £15~ on fabric softener per month is quite a lot!

BadlyWrittenPoem · 11/05/2016 14:51

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
It looked like just another fabric conditioner but more compact.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I like the compactness of the product. I used the small load dose for a large dose and found the smell just about right and not too overpowering. I like that being more compact reduces the environmental impact in terms of packaging, transport etc.

Jitterybug · 11/05/2016 15:53

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
Good, clothes felt soft, nice smell in the bottle, like the size of the bottle

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
Liked the smell but was disappointed it couldn't be detected very much on the clothes.
