This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Visqueen Ultimate bin liners, a new range of ultimate strength bin bags.

The team behind Visqueen Ultimate say “What makes Visqueen Ultimate so special is the strength and tear resistance of the bags in their range – making Visqueen Ultimate the toughest bin bags made available in the UK”.

Testers, please complete the feedback questions below but please feel free to add any other comments you may have. Please state whether you were testing the 30 litre or 50 litre capacity bin liners. Please also remember to complete the survey we sent you to be entered into the £300 Amazon voucher prize draw.

Q1. What were your overall impressions of Visqueen Ultimate bin liners?
Q2. Are you generally satisfied or frustrated with typical bin liners that you use? How do Visqueen Ultimate bin liners compare to them?
Q3. In terms of strength, how would you rate Visqueen Ultimate bin liners compared to other bin liners you have tried in the past?
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Visqueen Ultimate bin liners if you were in need of bin bags?
Q5. If you are willing to purchase Visqueen Ultimate bin liners, how likely are you to consider purchasing them online (e.g. on Amazon)?
Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Visqueen Ultimate bin liners to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks, MNHQ .

  1. The bags were very durable and I was impressed by them.
  2. The regular liners I use can tear if the bin has been overfilled and this can mean more pulling and moving it around to get the liner out of the bin. Visqueen liners impressed me and were really strong.
  1. Much better than others
  2. If the price was suitable I'd buy them in future.
  3. I'd be more likely to buy them in store
  4. I would recommend these liners to family and friend as they worked out well

Q1. Very thick and strong. Liked them being in a box, stacked neatly in drawer.
Q2. Satisfied, Visqueen thicker and with better drawstring.
Q3. Stronger. But one did rip under drawstring when removed from bin which was very tricky.
Q4. Depending on price, likely now I have tried them.
Q5. IUnlikely. Would buy at supermarket as part of a usual shop.
Q6. Again, yes depending on price. If good value then yes, strong, easily stored in the box.

30l liners tried here

Q1. What were your overall impressions of Visqueen Ultimate bin liners?

Seemed equally good quality to the Brabantia ones that I usually buy & fit fine.
Initially pleased with the dispenser box as it seemed so neat, but the reality was that for my kitchen drawer, it was just too bulky. Not a fan of the packaging; reminiscent of DIY/tools, but don't really care if I can't see it. It wouldn't put me off the product, having tried it, but I generally like the cool & uncluttered look of Brabantia packaging, so might have been less likely to pick it up in a shop? I can see that it would stand out well on a shelf, though.

Q2. Are you generally satisfied or frustrated with typical bin liners that you use? How do Visqueen Ultimate bin liners compare to them?

Generally happy with Brabantia; have sometimes bought the equivalent Tesco ones but always regretted it as they rip so much easier. Brabantia hardly ever rip; none of the Visqueen have ripped yet, and I did push them in the interests of testing! So Visqueen compare very favourably with my ususal liners.

Q3. In terms of strength, how would you rate Visqueen Ultimate bin liners compared to other bin liners you have tried in the past?

Stronger even than Brabantia

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Visqueen Ultimate bin liners if you were in need of bin bags?

Very likely to buy at Amazon or Waitrose if a similar price.

Q5. If you are willing to purchase Visqueen Ultimate bin liners, how likely are you to consider purchasing them online (e.g. on Amazon)?

Happy to buy them if available on Amazon. I normally buy on Subscribe and save, which I use with 15% off, which makes them currently £5.09 for 40 compared to Visqueen £6.06 for same.
They would need to be comparable price for me to switch.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Visqueen Ultimate bin liners to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

If it came up, I would be happy to recommend - I love passing on info about good quality stuff, especially if at a decent price. (I'd never touch Simple Human because of the inflated price of its consumables, though.)

Q1. What were your overall impressions of Visqueen Ultimate bin liners?
Strong, easy to use and replace, no leaks.
Q2. Are you generally satisfied or frustrated with typical bin liners that you use? How do Visqueen Ultimate bin liners compare to them?
well I'm used to ending up double-bagging my bin so although I'd never thought that bothered me, I do prefer these stronger ones.
Q3. In terms of strength, how would you rate Visqueen Ultimate bin liners compared to other bin liners you have tried in the past?
Much better than others.
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Visqueen Ultimate bin liners if you were in need of bin bags?
I would yes, but it always depends on the price.
Q5. If you are willing to purchase Visqueen Ultimate bin liners, how likely are you to consider purchasing them online (e.g. on Amazon)?
Not very likely I'm afraid. Imagine purchasing all your household stuff online. Need it to be convenient.
Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Visqueen Ultimate bin liners to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend them, especially to someone looking for extra strength.

Q 1 I tested the 30l bags and was really impressed with them. I normally buy supermarkets own basics bin liners and these were like the Rolls Royce of bin bags compared to them!

Q2. I hadn't really thought about it but these are much better than what I normally use.
Q3. Very strong - no leaks of tears and I also think they're strong enough if you need a good clear out, to put stuff in the loft in etc.
Q4. Quite likely, I used a couple to take bags of stuff to charity shop in a wardrobe clear out.
Q5. It isn't something I've bought online before but if they were on offer I might.
Q6. Yes, as the quality is great.

madmumm · 12/04/2016 22:08

Q1. Impressed with the thickness, they certain don't leak or tear when emptying the bin. A roll would last a long time, as I feel more confident feeling the bag right up rather than emptying it too early. DH threw the box away so I didn't realise it was a dispenser!
Q2 &3 Vastly different to any other bin liners, far better than Brabantia. I tend to buy mid price ones, not the cheapest flimsiest ones or the top branded ones. These may just have changed my mind though!
Q4. Depending on the price, I would definitely consider buying them.
Q5. I'd actually prefer to buy them online from somewhere like Amazon, it would make it so much easier.
Q6. Yes, most definitely.

Thank you ZaneMumsnet, received yesterday. :)

PurpleCrazyHorse · 21/07/2016 13:46

It's a sad day, I've used the last of my Visqueen Ultimate bin liners :( However, I've spotted them on Amazon so going to give the smaller size a go in my Brabantia bin.

satine · 05/09/2016 12:51

Well, I'm proof that these testing panels work as I've just ordered my third lot of Visqueen bin liners from AMazon. Never thought I'd bother - I'd always just bought the black bags from the supermarket and then silently cursed them when they split and leaked bin juice Angry all over the floor!!

Buzzardbird · 06/09/2016 13:45

Ha! Me too! They are really good.

Mycatsabastard · 07/09/2016 19:01

And me! I am happy to pay the extra because they last so much longer and you can stuff them full to the brim with no chance of them splitting. Only using two bags a week now so a box lasts me ages.

What a daft thing to say you can be so happy with .. a flipping bin liner! But they really have made life so much easier!! I recommend them to everyone.

Sixgeese · 20/09/2016 11:23

And me, I said I thought they were expensive, but now buy them from Amazon, we love them. Worth the extra cost.
