Ours was broken too, unfortunately. We have kept the icing so will use it on an egg over Easter. It is a very good idea and we would definitely buy one in the shop. Broken chocolate tasted good!

Mine was broken too as well, in half.

  • How easy was the decorating kit to use? very easy and super fun to use.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity? Yes, both of them enjoyed and had a go.
-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg? Yes, it is not too sweet and very creamy. I had a bite as well.
-Would you recommend this kit to a friend? Yes definitely, but the package needs to improve so there less chance to break the egg.

Unfortunately the egg arrived broken into quite a few pieces so my daughter didn't decorate the it. She did attempt to use the icing on a larger broken piece but wasn't very successful. It tasted nice though! Not too sure I would necessarily recommend the kit to a friend. It is a pretty bog standard egg and considering ours broke maybe the packaging could be re thought.

Hi

I received the egg and my 6 yr old DD was really excited about decorating it. However it was badly cracked on both sides when we opened it up so she tried to work around that.

However the icing tube was really not up to the job. I heated it as suggested and as she had the egg upright in the stand, the icing was too thin and just ran down. We wiped that icing away and then laid it flat in the box to try and get the icing design to work. The icing still ran and then very soon I saw that she was finding the opposite - the icing was now too hard for her to push it out of the tube.

She ended up using some other icing tubes we had in the cupboard that at least added some colour to the design. She chose to save the egg to give to her Dad on his birthday so we didn't taste it but it smelt just like an ordinary Cadbury easter egg and I presume it would taste just like Dairy Milk.

We were both really disappointed. We would not recommend it to others. Good idea but not really possible to make it look attractive!

Ours also sadly did not survive the journey, but we played with the pieces! As others have said, the icing wasn't ideal but I imagine the consistency needed to be thin for it to adhere to egg.
Some extra decoration would make the product more exciting, however I think it is a nice idea and depending on price would be nicer than buying 'just an egg'.
My daughter very much enjoyed getting sticky with the icing although I think she is a little younger than the target market and didn't understand the concept! An advantage of the too thin icing was that I assume it made it easier for little hands to ply.

Cadbury chocolate is always delicious and exciting to get in the post.

Ours was smashed into lots of pieces too. This makes me question whether or not they'd survive easily on supermarket shelves.

We had a go with the icing anyway, and like others found it far too runny to get any sort of decent design on our little bits. It was too fiddly for my 4 year old - and his motor skills are very good, playing with Lego, decorating gingerbread houses etc. He gave up quite quickly. The 7 year old enjoyed it, but was frustrated that his pictures weren't coming out well. I've promised them an Easter egg with some coloured icing so they can decorate another. It's a great concept (craft and chocolate...much better than Kraft and chocolate Wink) but I think coloured squeezable icing would make it better. I certainly wouldn't buy one.

It did, however, taste lovely.

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?

It was reasonably easy for my 10 year old to use.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?

She definitely enjoyed the activity (especially the eating part afterwards)

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?

We all enjoyed the taste of the egg. ~It's true that Easter Egg chocolate always tastes somehow superior to that of a normal chocolate bar.

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?

That would depend on the price of the kit. As others have mentioned, the kit might have had a bit more to it with some different colours of icing, and/or little sweets to stick on. A leaflet with some decorating ideas wouldn't go amiss either.

Mine arrived on Friday, it looks like it is in one piece, so I will attempt the icing over the next couple of days. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to send out a chocolate egg in a jiffy bag though MN, seeing how many are smashed.

  1. did you DCs enjoy the activity?
  • Yes they loved doing there own picture creation on them but they did say they wish there was a couple more iceing colours to chose from and some little chocolate buttons or sweets of some sort with it.

  1. Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
    *Yes they loved it.

  2. would you recommend this kit to a friend?
*yes I would especially if it had a couple more colours of iceing but I think it's a good idea it's something a little bit different for children to do at Easter.

Thank you for letting us take part in this product trial 😊

Well ours arrived in one piece! I hadn't told my two year old we had it because I knew he wouldn't stop nagging to do it until I gave in. Today he was looking longingly in the cupboards after lunch do I thought we'd give it a go.

How easy was the decorating kit to use?
The kit was super easy to use, didn't really need me to set anything up or prepare anything. I suppose it depends on how messy your child is with it, but there was minimal mess and cleaning afterwards which is a winner for me!
My son was able to do the squeezing of the icing himself, which is important when they are in that 'I do it myself' stage that can easily lead to tantrum.
I did a swirly line to start, to show him how it was done so that he could copy. He did need both hands to squeeze the tube so that meant he couldn't hold on to the egg and get a neat design. He only really attempted spots, and some lines (a face, apparently).

Did he enjoy the activity?
Yes, although it didn't last as long as I'd hoped. The activity was totally lead by him and I let him decide when he'd had enough of decorating. He was desperate to eat some and I realised very quickly that there was no chance of the egg being left to dry before being devoured! In fact, I turned my back for a second and he'd bitten the top off! However then he was more interested in squeezing the icing into the open egg.

Did he enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes, he's asking now if the other bits we haven't eaten are dry yet.

Would you recommend the kit to a friend?
I wouldn't go out of my way to, there are a few things that could be done to improve it to call it a 'kit'. Small sweets or different coloured icing would be a good addition The design (albeit not all that intricate) my son managed to pipe on it ran quite quickly down the egg which meant his patterns were unrecognisable after he'd finished. We have some chocolate coins that we will use the left over icing with...I think they'll be more successful.

Thanks for choosing us!

Another one here who's egg was smashed to smithereens on arrival. So hard to comment on the stand. How easy was the decorating kit to use?
The kit was very easy to use. The icing was easy to heat up but at the beginning was very watery and slipped off. The colour was not very strong either.
-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes for about 5 minutes. Would have been better with more colours or something to stick on.
-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Goes without saying it was wolfed.
-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
Yes i think I would. It was quite a nice novelty. I would buy it as a gift. Depending on the price.

Egg was in one piece here.

Dd was very excited about it. I loved the idea of decorating the egg.

The reality was a bit different. The icing was rubbish, too watery for kids to be able to control and not enough of it. So dd ended up eating it out of the tube. She gave it full marks for taste.

It's a great idea, execution is poor though. I'd pay a bit extra for a selection of icing or sprinkles (to be honest I have all of these in my cupboard but that's besides the point.)

Wouldn't buy this in its current incarnation.

The taste was fine. Dd was happy but I enjoy getting her interesting eggs.for easter and this doesn't compete.

It is a lovely idea! So in answer to the questions:

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?
Difficult for 3 and 2 year olds - the icing was too thin when heated, cooled quickly and then took a lot of effort to squeeze out of the tube. Despite the idea, I wasn't overly impressed. They lost interest because of the difficulty. The picture says it all.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
They were keen on the idea, got very excited and enjoyed decorating as much as they could. But because of the difficulty with the icing, they lost interest quickly.

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
As it is chocolate, they couldn't ask for anything better than cadbury! The chocolate egg itself was a hit, with or without the icing.

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
I would have to say, I wouldn't recommend the product unless cadbury were able to change the design/icing. I honestly don't think it is worth the money as easter eggs always impress the kids and they don't really need to be fancy; having just chocolate is impressive enough to kids. With so many options out there, with regards to the packaging, it wouldn't really stand out either.

A little disappointed cadbury Chocolate

How easy was the decorating kit to use?
Not very! Icing went from super runny and dribbly to too thick to squeeze in no time at all.

Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes! DS really enjoyed it, which surprised me. He isn't too fussy about results and enjoys the process more. I would think some of his more artistic friends would have found it more frustrating though.

Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Will update tomorrow! It's still intact. He would rather admire it than eat it.

Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
Not sure. It was quite fun, but I've used better writing icings in the past. Great idea, could be executed better. Perhaps some stuck on sweets could be fun too.

Thanks for choosing us to do this. We would never have chosen this egg in store, but DS really enjoyed it.

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?
Unfortunately it arrived broken but we were still able to decorate the large pieces. The icing was hard to get to the right consistency, first it was too thin and I had to cool it under the tap to get it to thicken. After we finished we put the egg in the fridge to set the decoration but it all slid off and made a pool of icing on the shelf.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes my 3 year old enjoyed it.

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes we both enjoyed the chocolate

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
If you could sort out the consistency of the icing and make it possible for it to set then yes, but in it's current condition no I would not recommend it.

Yes it arrived in one piece, the kids found it fun and I would really recommend it.

However, it would depend on the price.

Only and egg and icing seemed mean. So we added to it with smarties and haribo.

No pics :( sorry

We received ours in one piece so that was a good start!
My DC really enjoyed doing it and even resisted the temptation of eating the chocolate before icing it!
It was easy to use though we struggled to get the icing out at first.
The chocolate tasted nice enough, just like Dairy Milk. The icing didn't add much to the taste.
I'm not sure if I would recommend it, I guess it depends on the price.
Thank you.

Unfortunately the egg arrived broken. But we still tried to decorate the pieces.
My son (3yo) found it difficult to use the icing as it was very runny, He enjoyed the experience, even if the end result looked disappointing.
He enjoyed eating the chocolate afterwards, delicious as expected.
I probably wouldn't recommend this to friends, but it would depend on the price.

My DD still enjoyed decorating the pieces of broke egg. I'm not sure I'd be happy to pay for one.

Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes. They love chocolate and I was also allowed a small bit.

I probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend. It's fine to keep the DC entertained for a while but not worth paying for to be honest.

Yes, he enjoyed it and didn't mind that his picture didn't stay on properly.

Did your DCs enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes, it was very much enjoyed by us all!

Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
Not really as decoration didn't work out. Would be better with thicker icing, different colours, maybe sweets to stick on?

Who gives a damn what it looks like. Chocolate is made to be eaten except many in the UK now boycott Cadbury's. Why you may ask? Because since being taken over by the Americans, Cadburys chocolate tastes of shit. No surprise really since Hershey bars taste of vomit.

May your profits continue to plummet.

Unfortunately, we were unable to decorate our egg as it arrived smashed! I was looking forward to doing this with my 3 year old, however, judging by the product, I doubt it would have kept him entertained for long. If I were to buy this, or recommend it, I would like to see an improvement! Could there be different colours of icing? Edible glitter, stars etc. Maybe even chicks or bunnys (keeping with the Easter theme!) I know that my son would squeeze a bit of icing over it and then be done! I like the egg stand, as that would save smearing the design.
It isn't something I would go and buy, however the Cadburys chocolate was delicious, as always!
