How easy was the decorating kit to use?

Not very. The icing was runny and almost clear at first. Once I squeezed it about a bit it did improve but still wasn't the consistency or colour depicted on the pack. I also found the icing too hard for DD to get out of the nozzle once properly mixed.

Did your DCs enjoy the activity?

No because it didn't really work. On the first go we had to wipe the egg clean because a load of runny gunk came out. After that it still wasn't white and made a runny mess despite being difficult to squeeze out of the tube.

Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?

Yes.

Would you recommend this kit to a friend?

I wouldn't. It didn't work well enough. The icing needs to be runny enough to be easy for a child to use yet white enough for the design to be clear and thick enough not to run off the egg. Good idea but they've not really executed it.

How easy was the kit to use?
Pretty easy. The instructions were clear and easy to use. Because of warming the tube it was a lot easier to squeeze and my just turned three year old managed it fine, just needing help with it as the tube got empty.
Like others we found the stand a bit too flimsy and it didn't help with the icing running afterwards so we just used the carboard inner box it came with which worked fine as we only decorated one side.

Did your DC enjoy the activity?

Absolutely. My three year old loved it loads. I can rarely face all the effort of food based craft but this was so easy to set up and do that we really enjoyed it and had fun together.
Her seven year old brother had a go on the other side and loved turning his side into an alien!

How easy was the decorating kit to use?
In theory, very easy. In practice, not very. Unfortunately like others, my egg arrived broken into pieces though there was one piece large enough to try to decorate. Unfortunately the icing was so thin it just slipped off the egg (despite laying it flat) and my attempt at writing on it ended up looking like smeared blobs. Sorry!

Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
They would have had I let them have a go if it had worked in the first place. My initial attempts made giving it to the DCs to try a waste of time.

Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes, it was Cadbury's chocolate that they've had countless times before. What else is there to say?

Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
Probably not. If you want a personally decorated egg, you can go to Thorntons where they'll add a message/name to your egg or you could decorate some real eggs with paint etc. I can't really see a market for this idea unless the icing is improved.

Sorry presses post by accident so re-posting as a whole.
How easy was the kit to use?
Pretty easy. The instructions were clear and easy to use. Because of warming the tube it was a lot easier to squeeze and my just turned three year old managed it fine, just needing help with it as the tube got emptier. Her seven year old brother had no problems whatsoever other than limiting his imagination to one idea!

Did your DC like the taste of the egg?
Yes! I am assured that it tastes EVEN better when you decorate the egg yourself!

Would you recommend this kit to a friend?

Subject to it not being a ridiculous price then absolutely.
When I opened the parcel I was disappointed that there was only one colour and no extra things to stick on. Bright icing would have attracted me to it more in the supermarket.
That said, there were absolutely no complaints about there being only one colour from either DC and I'll be strongly considering buying another for the most likely rainy easter holiday.

Now all I need to do is create a plausible pile of plates to hide the fact that tea was mostly chocolate person/alien based....

Thank you for an ace activity.

And finally a photo of my three year old's "egg person". Unfortunately the alien side got eaten before I could photograph it!

I"m amazed at all the people saying the chocolate was delicious. Have Cadbury's gone back to the old formulation?

How easy was the decorating kit to use?
Pretty easy. We didn't really heat our icing so it wasn't too runny.
-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes she loved the idea of decorating it, and managed to hold off eating it for a good while longer than I expected (this is a child that went and licked one in a shop this week...)

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?

Very much. She is covered in chocolate now.

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?

She says she would bit I think that may be because it's her first Easter egg. She's just 3. She does say she likes the icing though.

Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
My 2yo did enjoy it, yes!

Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes, he loved it (as did I and DH Grin)

Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
Yes, definitely, it was a quick and fairly easy activity that was fun for all of us including the DC.

How easy was the decorating kit to use?
The icing is an absolute nightmare, I warmed it in my hands in the hope it wasn't as runny as previous posters have said. I also used the carton it came in to lie it flat. There are two extremes to the icing, either completely runny so any design is impossible or so hard that even I struggled to squeeze it out. Let alone my three year old.
-Did your DCs enjoy the activity? For a small time yes, but she got cross when the pattern wouldn't go right or was too difficult for her to do because the icing was drying up.
-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes. It's chocolate so that's a given, but we did enjoy sharing it.
-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
No, not at the moment, it's a gimmick but not a very good one right now, the icing is so poor (and would need at least icing that worked and another couple of colours) which just leaves a glorified plain Easter egg. I think it would need to be very cheap. Overall I'm fairly disappointed with it to be honest.

You've got to wonder, reading these reviews, if Cadbury ever bothered to actually test these before they manufactured them?! Why would they miss something so basic as making sure the icing was usable. The mind boggles.

Our Egg was also broken in transit I 'glued' it together with the icing pen Grin

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?
It was simple enough once we warmed the icing up and got it to come out of the tube. The tube made it easy to 'draw' with.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes they did though they did ask for sprinkles and different coloured icing. Maybe some chocolate buttons would make a good addition.

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
It didnt hang around for long after being decorated so i would say most definitely so.

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend
Yes. Its a nice easter gift for older children.

How easy was the decorating kit to use?
Fairly easy, 11 year old did it on her own.
She said the icing was a bit hard but liked the stand.

Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes, "it was awesome"
But she would have liked more and different coloured icing & possibly sprinkles

Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes, she likes dairy milk & said icing tasted nice. We didn't get any Envy

Would you recommend this
Probably, DD did it very quickly but she did enjoy it. Maybe better for younger children.
I would not expect to pay more than for a normal Easter egg for this.

We received the egg in one piece!

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?
Not very easy - the icing was either too runny or too hard to get out of the tube.

Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes they did (age 5 & 7) but they got bored with the icing very quickly (as above) and just wanted to eat the egg!

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yes

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
No- The price is too expensive for what it is. The icing is poor and boring. Its a chocolate egg with basic icing - its definitely not worth the £3 RRP.

Unfortunately, the egg turned up in pieces, however, we valiantly attempted it anyway!

The kit was easy to use, although the icing wasn't a great consistency - it was too runny when it had first been heated, then fine for a bit.

My children enjoyed icing the pieces, but I think it was an activity that would only hold interest for a short time.

The egg tasted absolutely lovely!

Possibly would buy one, for no more that £2. It would better with some edible glitter, or more colours of icing, but I think children generally like a novelty.

How easy was the kit to use?

The kit was really straightforward but the icing a little tricky to squeeze out for a 3 year old - also it slid off the egg and ended up looking a bit sorry for itself :(

Did your children enjoy the activity?

Yes! They are 8 and 4 and enjoyed it. I think it would have been more fun with different coloured icing.. Maybe two smaller tubes rather than one big one.

Did they enjoy the taste of the egg?

Yes, of course! It's chocolate! I'm still raging about the changes to Cadburys though, nowhere near as nice as it used to be..

Would I recommend this?

Yes, it was fun and a nice activity to do for a Friday night treat!

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?
We found it pretty easy. Ours was in one piece so we followed the instructions and I let my 3 year old decorate one side. She couldn't really make anything much more than some blobs, but she was happy with that. I had a go doing the other side. It wasn't that easy to make anything amazing, but I wasn't that bothered. The icing did start to stiffen up but we just put it in the water again.
-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
Yes, they really did. It only lasted about ten minutes, but they had fun.
-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
I think so. They both had a bit but weren't that bothered when I said we'd had enough. We had just eaten our tea though so they were probably full.
-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
Probably, as long as it was relatively cheap. It was good fun for ten minutes. I don't think much older children would be bothered about it though.

Thanks for the free chocolate! As you can see, my 15 month old son was more than happy to pose with the egg! His big sister was going, 'Say cheese, little egg!' We had a cracking time!

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?

It was an easy idea and process, the icing was just a little bit hard to squeeze out.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?

Definitely, I have a DC 3yrs and he was really excited about doing it after his tea. He loved helping me unwrap the box, make the stand and set it up. He thought about what design he wanted to do (although in the end we just squeezed out whatever!) it was fun. It just wasn't easy for him to do it by himself, we ended up with both of us holding it and me squeezing it. It was still enjoyable though.

As for the icing running, we found we had to put the egg horizontally on the stand and wait for it to dry before standing. We didn't initially hence the drips on the pic.

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?

Yes, and the icing too, think the icing was his favourite bit, it always is though! I love Cadburys so I thought it was delicious, especially ater it had been in the fridge Grin

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?

Yes, but I'd explain younger children would probably find it hard to use themselves.

Overall: We were really pleased to have been chosen for the trial, we had a fun session of making the design, and then eating it. Really happy. Thank you.

We got our egg yesterday and although cracked in half at the seam was still in one piece.

My DD didn't really enjoy the activity. The icing was either too runny or too stiff when left to harden.

Taste was ok typical Cadbury chocolate.

Wouldn't really recommend it as too fiddly for younger children and not creative or exciting enough for older. children.

Our egg arrived smashed in pieces too. We did however decorate the pieces like biscuits!

-How easy was the decorating kit to use?

We didn't heat it, instead we just gave it a few squeezes in our hands. It worked fine and easy to use.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?

Yes they really enjoyed it although didn't last very long.

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?

Chocolate is chocolate to them! They ate it and said it was delicious!

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend? No I wouldn't because it's over really quickly and only one colour so not very exciting. Would be better if there were 3 colours and things to stick on maybe.

We got a smashed egg so couldnt use the stand. I did however try to put icing on a bit of the chocolate in order to test the idea.

How easy was the decorating kit to use?
The stand was a good idea and the icing came out of the tube easily.

-Did your DCs enjoy the activity?
We didn't do it together due to the smashed egg but he would have enjoyed it.

-Did your DC enjoy the taste of the egg?
Yummy cadbury chocolate as always

-Would you recommend this kit to a friend?
No. The icing is not fit for purpose. It is too translucent and within a minute or so of drawing on the chocolate it had all pooled together so there was just a blob not the design i drew (gravity not an issue as i drew on flat bits of chocolate )
