Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
No, I was not aware of them, but it also didn't shock me that they were around. Aunt Bessie's are part of the components of a Sunday roast (e.g Yorkshire pudding).

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
I was looking forward to using them. Not having to peel, par boil or cut anything. I'm always nervous cooking roasties, this took the pain out of it. Also, they were vegetarian too (i.e to get that crisp and fluffy texture doesn't use goose fat).

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

The taste was good. Although, it did feel like, something was missing. Maybe I've got used to my roast potatoes which I over cook or undercook and always end up tasting like cardboard!

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
I liked that all the potatoes were the same size - how does that happen without wasting too much food? Although, with cooking time it makes it easier that all are the same size, it's a little worrying to think that food is being wasted (it might not be, but just a thought).

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend, as it takes out all the worries of cooking roasties. No peeling, cutting, par boiling, bashing etc. Take out of the packet, put it on a tray and cook, turn half way through cooking and 35 mins later you have lovely roasties.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
I will buy these again. They are a time saver, with great crispy skin and fluffy inside.

toomuchinternets · 13/03/2016 17:19

Thanks for choosing me, we loved these!

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test? Nope! I knew AB did yorkshire puds but not potatoes.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes? We LOVED them!! And will definitely be buying them again!

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes? Delicious. Crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase? I've never purchased them before as have always made my own (I won't bother in future! I'll just buy these) but liked how they were all a similar shape and size.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not? YEP. I've wasted so much of my life peeling, par-boiling, cooking, and still getting pretty rubbish roasties. These were literally throw in a pan and put in the oven- and tasted so good.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes? Every time. We're sold!

Tanfastic · 13/03/2016 17:59

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
I think so but I, not sure.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
They were okay.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
I wasn't that keen on them, certainly not in comparison to my own homemade. Roast potatoes are my favourite part of a roast and to be honest I just couldn't get excited about them. Dh said pretty much the same but my 7 year old polished the lot off and said they were lovely.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
Can't complain about the size or shape. They didn't smell as nice as my own roast potatoes.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

For kids and quickness yes I'd recommend them as they went down very well with my son, but if someone served these up as part of my Christmas dinner I'd shoot them GrinWink.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?

Not very likely unless I was desperate.

I've added a pic below of my dinner today Grin

Thanks for the opportunity to try these!

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
I knew the Aunt Bessie brand made various roast-dinner style frozen foods, so although I wasn't aware of the product itself, I'd have been pretty sure it existed if asked IYSWIM.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
OK, but not great. The packaging was OK, and I was pleased to see that they're vegetarian. Easy to prepare, but I wasn't keen on the texture, and had mixed reviews from the family on their tasted, etc.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
Dh and I thought they had a weird aftertaste, a bit like slightly off milk/cheese. Our teenage dds (17 and 14) thought they tasted OK, but not as good as the 'real thing'.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
Shape was good - they were irregular so looked like traditional roast potatoes, which is what I usually make. But they smelled awful. For the purpose of an honest review: my 17 yr old said they 'tasted OK but smelled like sh!t' !

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
If someone wanted a quick roast potato, I'd probably tell them they existed, but would be honest that they aren't as good as a traditionally roasted potato and cost a lot more.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
Very unlikely. They're much easier, of course, but IMO the greater convenience of this product doesn't compensate for the lower quality, especially not at that much higher price. If I'm making a roast dinner, I'm prepared to go to a bit more effort, and making proper roast potatoes is just part of that. I don't see a roast dinner as a convenience meal, and we don't eat roast potatoes unless we're having roast dinner.

CMOTDibbler · 13/03/2016 19:31

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test? No, not really and I def wasn't aware that they were gluten free.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes? They exceeded my expectations! They need cooking for longer than on the instructions, but the outside is crispy, the inside fluffy. And no hassle at all!
Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes? 8 - not as amazing as the whole goose fat thing, but then they are easier and much lower calorie
Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase? Nice even shape and size. Smelt fine, and better than ones we had bought before
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes - they are convenient, and taste good.
Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes? Very likely - they are an easy weeknight bung in the oven, and being gluten free I can have them

heyday · 13/03/2016 19:42

Q1 I was aware that they existed but not bought them before.
Q2. They looked pretty authentic and a good size. First impressions were good.
Q3. They tasted OK but not really comparable to our usual home made roasties. I dished them up for the whole family - age range 4-49 and it was clean plates all round so I guess that says it all really. Good size and nice enough smell whilst cooking.
Q4. If anybody was discussing the use of frozen roast potatoes I would recommend Aunt Bessies.
Q5. I might consider purchasing them again in future as a handy freezer standby.

silverlace · 13/03/2016 19:43

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
No

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
They were OK, the outside was crispy but the inside was too soft. They lacked substance.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
I know we are told to cut down on salt but they did need a little more. They tasted quite bland.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
I was disappointed that they were of different sizes. There was a mix of average and tiny ones. They should all be the same size to cook evenly. When I make my own I cut them to a similar size. I didn't notice any aroma when they were cooking.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not really. They are ok but not something I would recommend.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
I would probably have some in the freezer as a stand by but my own home made are better and take little effort.

Sylviasmothersays · 13/03/2016 19:50

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?

I knew Aunt Bessie's made frozen roast potatoes but didn't know that there were particular 'homestyle' ones.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

We thought they were nice but, as a lot of people have said, tasted more like a potato wedge that a roast potato. They had a distinctive outer coating which you wouldn't normally get on a roast potato.

The children (5, 3 and 1) all liked them a lot but said they tasted very different to the normal ones we have.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

I thought they were reasonable if I wanted a wedge. In terms of a 'homestyle' roast potato, I didn't think they tasted home prepared at all. This was because of the coating and also the type of oil that they were prepared in.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?

Shape - they were very uniform. I tend to cut normal potatoes up so uniformity depends on how much time I have.

Aroma - they smelt good but I don't think as good as the usual ones made with olive oil or goose fat.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them for a big gathering or catering event where you needed a guaranteed big quantity of crispy roast potatoes and didn't have time to prepare. For a sunday lunch, I would not recommend.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?

Very unlikely unless I was either very short of time or, needed some easy potatoes for a big event. I'd be more likely to consider them as an alternative to chips or wedges.

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
I was aware of them but had never actually tried them.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
They were very good.
Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
We enjoyed them a lot. We thought they were crispy in the outside and fluffy on the inside and hugely convenient from a busy mum's point of view.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
I thought they were very good. Good size, quite uniform in shape and looked appealing in the plate.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely. Really enjoyed them and found the ease of use extremely appealing. Worth keeping a bag in the freezer for emergency mid week meal options.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
I would always have a bag in the freezer for conveniences sake. A great stand-by meal option when needed and very tasty as well!

Enjoyed this product test - thank you very much.

seasidethrills · 13/03/2016 20:42

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?

Yes, I'd seen them in the supermarket but not tried them.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

V uniform in size although a bit small compared to the ones i usually make! Came out very crispy once cooked and a good golden colour.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

I found them powdery and a bit floury. I didn't think they tasted like 'real' potatoes but they were ok for a shortcut.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?

The shape was v uniform and a bit small, they smelt like potatoes when cooking.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, as freezer standby they are good.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?

I might consider them if they are on offer as a freezer emergency but will likely still make my own.

Thanks for letting me try them!

GrowAndRun · 13/03/2016 20:53

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
No

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
Disappointing. Not crispy - just hard. Insides were more like mash than roast potato texture. Also not v impressed by ingredients list.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
Quite good actually

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
Shape fairly standard. No aroma noticed over the rest of our roast dinner.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
No. Not very like roast potatoes. More like mash in a hard skin.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
Unlikely. Will purchase raw potatoes.

xalyssx · 13/03/2016 21:18

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
Yes I have seen them before
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
They were a good shape but I didn't like the taste. I put off cooking them because they are to be cooked at a higher temperature than anything else I cook.
Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
I didn't like them at all. They tasted like mashed potato covered in salty dust.
Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
The shape was good because it was nice and flat and easy to put on a baking tray. It was a bit awkward though because they were different sizes. The aroma was normal.
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
No because I prefer supermarkets' own versions.
Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
I would rather have another version.

sarahj68 · 13/03/2016 21:53

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
No
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
Quite good taste wise and I'd buy again at a reasonable price
Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
I make my own and buy branded and shops own depending on the price for a quick meal. Aunt Bessie's were good and I'd buy if on offer
Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
I liked the uniform size, which means less arguments at the dinner table, but with other brands you usually get different sizes, which I think reflects more of what a real roast potato looks like. Taste and aroma no different from the average potato (would Aunt Bessie's consider adding seasoning/herbs?)
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend as they were tasty but at the right price
Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
I would definitely consider along with other roast potatoes for a quick meal, if they were on special offer

weasel6 · 13/03/2016 22:52

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?

No

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

Before we made them great - it was good they were vegetarian as many use duck fat which means not all our family will eat them. They looked like traditional roast potatoes.
After we ate them, not great, they took longer to cook than stated and were not very enjoyable to eat for me and husband, although our three year old loved them.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

I would say poor. They were too dry on the inside but not really crunchy on the outside. They didn't taste anything like roasties done from fresh.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?

The shape was much more uniform than homemade, they did look the part. I didn't notice an amazing smell but nor were they unappealing.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, because I didn't enjoy eating them.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?

Well, I wouldn't make them up as part of a family meal. My daughter really enjoyed them though so I would consider buying a bag for when she's eating without us as it's easier than making my own....although they took longer than stated to cook so not really an option for a super quick tea.

1disneyfanatic · 13/03/2016 23:30

Q1) I'd seen them when buying Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire puddings but always made my own.

Q2) They were all similar in colour and looked quite good. They smelled nice when they were cooking in the oven.

Q3) almost powdery like taste and like it has flour on it. Not at all tasty like real homemade roasties.

Q3) they smelled better than they tasted. I'm glad I made mash to because my DD took one bite and said "what have done to these potatoes? They are no where near as good as Dads" I think they would get me banned from making Sunday lunch if I made them again.

Q4) Sorry Aunt Bessie's no I wouldn't be recommending them to anyone.

Q5) Please stick to making Yorkshire Puddings as they are amazing.

Takora · 14/03/2016 00:10

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?

No, I wasn't.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

They were certainly easy to cook and a good size, but I was put off by the amount of oil they had. Not so noticeable when you come to eat them, but they feel oily when they come out of the bag frozen and they release a lot of oil while cooking.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

My 6 year old loved them and gobbled them all down very enthusiastically. He said he thought they were just as good as our usual home-made ones. My husband didn't enjoy the texture of the centre of the potatoes - I thought it was just OK. Neither of us like the outside of the potatoes. They tasted oddly floury and rather artificial.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?

The shape and size was good / convenient, but I think that our usual roast potatoes smell much better.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them for someone to try if they prefer not to cook from scratch or don't have time. Otherwise, based on my comments above, these were not good enough to substitute for home-made roast potatoes and I wouldn't serve them to guests, so no, I wouldn't recommend them in general.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?

I would consider buying them if I knew I was going to be pushed for time and needed roast potatoes to accompany a dinner for my son, but realistically I am more likely to change carbohydrate or opt for a different cooking method than buy these frozen roast potatoes again. It is a shame, as I had quite high hopes for these potatoes!

Elliecherry · 14/03/2016 07:12

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?
Yes I was

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
They seem like a good quick alternative to roast potatoes if you are in a rush, very easy to cook and it's great to have freezable potatoes for when you run out of fresh ones/ time to roast.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?
They taste pretty good, crispy and fluffy. They remind me of chips a bit but they aren't greesy which is good.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?
I liked the shape, there were no huge ones in the bag which was good, they looked very potato like :) it was hard to smell them specifically when other things were being cooked too, but it smelt pretty good from what I could tell.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, they are a good tasting roast potato alternative, so not a lot to dislike.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?
As a freezer back up yes, especially if they were on offer.

Thanks for picking us :)

Thanks, MNHQ

Q1. Yes I was aware but hadn't tried.

Q2. A quick alternative to home roasties, just 'bung in' the oven.

Q3. I found the shape and size suitable, bigger spuds often don't cook in the middle so liked the smaller size. I didn't get much smell from the aroma.

Q4. Yes I would recommend.

Q5. I would buy these again to keep in the freezer for backup.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes? They were definitely not as good as homemade roast potatoes but they were quite nice not quite as fluffy in the middle as mine but they were still nice Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase? I thought the shape of them were good but because they were small they fooled me into thinking I was cooking loads when in actual fact I needed more than 1 pack per meal (6 portions)They did smell nice . Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not? yes I would recommend but only as a back up when in a hurry or perhaps instead of a "chip" night.£2 is a lot of money for a small portion of potatoes. Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes? I may purchase a packet to keep in the freezer to use in an emergency but they wouldn't go on my regular shopping list

I was aware of many Aunt Bessie's products before taking part in this product test, mainly Yorkshire Puddings. I have noticed the TV ads for these roast potatoes but have never got round to trying them as my family do like the 'homemade taste' of 'real' roast potatoes.

My overall impression of these potatoes was that the bag was quite large (I think I got some free). They looked very similar in shape and size which is something you don't get with homemade roasts.

The taste was fairly good and I think you have to take this into account as they are cooked from frozen for 35 minutes. Proper roast potatoes take a lot longer and are more faffy. They were good if you suddenly decided 'lets have roast potatoes' but didn't want to spend the time preparing them. The taste was not bad but obviously couldn't compare with real roasts.

The shape of the potatoes was very similar and the aroma was not strong at all. Real roasts look different and don't always give off an aroma.

I would recommend these as a change from frozen chips or if you fancied roast potatoes but didn't have the time to prepare them.

I would consider these potatoes in future as they are very handy to have instead of chips and instead of preparing real roasts.

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?

I had heard of these before. A friend had recommended these in the past.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

Seemed like a good, easy, time-saving option. I was looking forward to trying these.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

The outside was crispy and the inside was soft, exactly what you'd hope for in a roast potato. However the taste was somewhat bland. Usually we roast our potatoes along with the chicken which gives them a meaty flavour. This was missing in the frozen potatoes. Having said these, the children enjoyed them immensely and came back for seconds and thirds.

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?

All the potatoes were of an even size and shape. I didn't notice any particular aroma although my husband thought they smelled 'oily'.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend, they were time-saving and cooked right the way through. Definitely worth for someone who is looking to cook a quick dinner.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?

I don't think I would buy again as I do prefer the taste of our home made roast potatoes, even when they don't always come out as crispy.

Q1. Were you aware of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes before taking part in this product test?

Yes, but had not tried before

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

Really pleasntly surprised. I thought they might be a bit soggy or uncooked in the middle but they were nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
DS loved them. He said the flavour was really good and they were fluffy.

Q3. In terms of taste, how would you rate Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes?

Really tasty, although I think they tasted like big oven chips, if that makes sense?!

Q3. How did you find Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes in terms of shape and aroma, compared to typical roast potatoes you make/purchase?

I usually make my own roasties which are far less uniform in shape and also, IMHO, taste better! Having said that, there was nothing wrong with how the Aunt Bessie's ones taste or aroma

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would. They were easy to cook and very tasty.

Q5. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle frozen roast potatoes if you were in need of roast potatoes?

Bit weird, but I think I might purchase these as an oven chip alternative, rather than a roast potato alternative, if that makes sense!? So, I would use them for a mid-week tea, with sausages or something, especially if just cooking for DS, or me and DS.

I was cooking a roast dinner, I would do proper roasties, especially if cooking for a large group as they are cheaper and tastier and not much more work as I'd have the oven on anyway.

Q1. Yes
Q2. Pasty texture, not crispy enough on the outside.
Q3. Most of the family thought they tasted ok, apart from 16 year old ds.
Q3. The potatoes were uneven sizes. I know that potatoes are not uniform, but when I make roast potatoes, I try to cut them into even sized pieces to make sure they cook at the same rate. Aroma - they didn't smell as appetising as homemade roast potatoes.
Q4. No. Overall, we didn't really rate them highly. Nothing beats good homemade roast potatoes and I struggle with the fact that they are basically a proccessed food.
Q5. Not at all likely.
