AngelieMumsnet · 23/09/2015 10:33

This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I was very satisfied. Once I got used to them I found them a lot easier than nappies
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They kept my 1 year old dry through the day and night. There was a slight leak on one occasion but I think that was just because she had had such a huge poo!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would. My MiL has arthritis in her thumbs and can find tabs on nappies difficult. She found the pants much easier to use. DD is also very mobile and it is much quicker to get the pants on before she crawls off. Provided they were the same price as normal nappies I would be happy to continue purchasing them.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. I was a little sceptical about how well they would work but was pleasantly surprised.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes. They continue the excellent standards I've come to expect from Pampers.

Hi mine have not arrived yet been. Not sure if anyone else is still waiting thanks

pinkandstripey · 25/09/2015 10:40

Size 4, 2.5 year old boy.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied, waistband is lovely and soft, they fit well around the legs. Good dryness day and night - leaked over night a couple of times, but ds tends to wee loads at night and normally use 4+ baby dry nappies. Will continue to use 4+ over night. I thought they 'bulked' a little more underneath than baby dry nappies when wet, maybe the absorbent bit is in a slightly different place so I noticed it more. The tape to seal them when dirty is useless, it's not long enough to wrap around to contain anything. I'd rather have a detachable tape to place where it's needed, and 3 folds rather than just 2.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Good, as above
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
9/10 - but only cos size 4 doesn't last overnight as well as size 4+.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, provided price wasn't prohibitive.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
DS is potty training. I wouldn't use them on my 7 month old ds (who is also size 4) as changing lying down isn't too easy in pants, and the tape wouldn't contain a folded poonami nappy.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
For potty training age child - yes, absolutely.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied. They were very easy to use.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Very well. They kept him dry and everything was held in well.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Possibly if they were a good price.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. Nappy changes are becoming a bit of a battle and these are really easy to use because I don't necessarily have to lay him down.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would.

I didn't use the tab on the back because I didn't think about it.

My little boy is 15 months old and we tried size 5.

Pickofthepops · 25/09/2015 13:14

Thank you for letting me - well, my 11 month old little girl and me! - take part - she tested out the 4+ size.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Really satisfied - ten out of ten. We are Pampers loyal customers and have been for years. These have all the usual reliability but look pretty (sort of frilly at top), and also have advantage of being able to put them on while she is standing up (lots at the moment). And she has a sort of phobia about being laid down on changing mats / tables.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Exceptionally well, as we expect from Pampers. Totally reliable.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Heavy when she'd had more to drink, but totally dry on outside and no leaks.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why
not?

Definitely in the future. I'd just had a mega box of Pampers 4+ active fit delivered when I got the email to ask us to product test. So I'll use those up first and then buy some Baby-Dry pants.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or
not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, as I say, and I'm sure mine is not the only one, the advantage of being able to change her standing up is a big one for us. I think the issue is her reflux, and coupled with a big slice of independence, the pants have solved two problems in one for us.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, definitely.

InAndOfMyself · 25/09/2015 15:25

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very, they performed better than expected. When we first out them on I was afraid they didn't look very good but the fit was perfect as there were no leaks.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
I was hesitant to use them overnight in case of leaks but they were great, no problem at all.

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Highly rated, we had no leaks and the nappy was very full on occasion.

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not
Yes, they performed well and my son likes stepping in to them rather than a regular nappy.

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
They can be used for training or just as a regular nappy, very good results for us.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, I would

Ntinyn · 25/09/2015 15:34

My daughter is 22 months and we tried the size 5 nappies.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied with these nappies.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
We already use the standard baby dry nappies size 5 in the day and size 5+ at night. The pants performed great in the day but I was worried about the nights because we had to start buying the 5+ nappies as she was leaking by morning. However, I was pleasently surprised that she woke up dry each night we used them.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Top marks! I expected no less
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes absolutely. So easy to use.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. I hadn't thought about using pants before but they felt a little bit more grown up which is perfect for her age.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would and already have!

Thanks for letting me try them

Bythepath · 25/09/2015 16:49

I tried them with my daughter 14 months old size 4. Thanks for letting me take part

Overall, How satisfied were you with pampers baby dry pants?
Satisfied but not amazed.

How did pampers baby dry pants perform throughout the day and nighttime?
They were great, very absorbent no leaks at all and she sleeps a good 13 hours at night.

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10/10

Would you consider buying them in the future, if not why not?
Yes in the future when she is maybe 18 months plus but at the moment I find it easier to change her lying down.

Did the trial convince you pants are not just for potty training?
yes, they would be useful when my daughter is bigger and can change her standing up so 18months plus or so. I wouldn't use them at this age though

If it came up in conversation would you recommend pampers pants for their dryness and fit
Yes

fraggle84 · 25/09/2015 19:41

Just completed the trial of this product. Great item smile

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Good - would use again

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? - very good no leaks
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Very good no issues
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would

-Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

no I'd prefer normal nappies as dd isn't standing up on her own yet

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes i would definitely recommend especially for older babies

We tested size 4 for 8 month old

goldglittershitter · 25/09/2015 20:02

Thank you for including me in the trial, I thought this product was fantastic , used size 6 on my son - almost 3.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
As well as the normal Pampers I use. This really surprised me as they look thin, I wasn't sure about the elasticated legs as they seemed too flexible and I felt sure they would leak - they didn't!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10/10 - no concerns or issues at all
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I am now buying these as my nappies of choice.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Easier in all situations to slip on and are as dry as a normal nappy so you get that peace of mind that baby will stay dry but is less hindered by a bulky nappy. It's the perfect blend of pull up and reliable nappy - the first I've known as most pull ups are just not that absorbent.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Without a doubt. Great product, thanks again!

Just a heads up for anyone on the thread looking to buy these, they are presently on offer at Ocado/Waitrose for £6 for a pack of 30+ (size 6 is 32)

Juniper404 · 25/09/2015 20:04

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Fairly. They didn't leak, but then I'm not sure they encouraged my DD to use her potty.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They didn't leak, but then she did most of her wees in the potty anyway. We didn't try them at night.

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
They seemed adequate.

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'm hoping I won't need to as DD will be trained! It's useful having something more knicker-like for when we're out of the house.

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I can't see the advantage of them outside of potty training.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Possibly. They seem as equally good as the other brands available, but I think most potty training books recommend leaving out the training pants stage.

Bluetwirl · 25/09/2015 20:39

erall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I really liked them - easy enough to use and impressed me more than I expected.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
I didn't use them at nighttime as was a bit worried they might not hold 12 hours of wee! They were really good in the day unless the poo was particularly "wet"!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good for dryness.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would buy them as they're really good to wrestle onto a wriggly crawling little boy ;)
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, they did convince me as they made nappy changing easier when the baby was trying to escape. They were good to shove on quickly too and not worry about the sticky tabs.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Yes, especially if they had a wriggly baby that was hard to change nappies with.
jessieb887 · 25/09/2015 20:40

My first ever product test and I've loved it!! I used them with my 3yo as i have been trying get him dry over night. And with these I'm really getting there, we are lifting at the minute but hoping soon he will do it alone but will continue to buy these. And then will buy again for my 2yo when that stage comes.
Thankyou!!

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied with these.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Absolutely fab very pleased with the performance
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10 out of 10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely they have been fan for getting my 3yo dry over night and I will definitely buy again.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would say they are not just for potty training i think these type of nappies are fab for all day use.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would great product does exactly as it says on the pack and from a very trusted brand.
spethy31 · 25/09/2015 21:22

I've been testing these Baby-dry pants with my 14-month old daughter, our second child.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Pleasantly surprised because I don't normally use branded disposables. Feel nice and soft around the edges.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Excellent performance containing liquid and solids. Lasted overnight for about 12 hours and that includes at least two night feeds.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10 out of 10, didn't notice any wetness issues
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not because they are likely to cost much more than similar unbranded disposables. Also because I use cloth nappies part-time.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. I have used conventional pull-ups at night for my 4-year old for a long time because they're easy for him to pull down if he needs to use the toilet himself. However I can see these pants are useful for a wriggly toddler when you're having trouble getting a normal nappy to be positioned properly. My only issue was having to pull them up quite firmly because of my toddler's chunky legs and I did worry sometimes that the pull-up might tear.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, if they're willing to pay what I'm sure would be a premium price but want the convenience of not having to stick nappies down!
jewels3000 · 25/09/2015 21:33

Overall i'm very satisfied with the product and very happy with no leaks ;-)
Thank you for the trial, my son is 8m and we have been testing size 4.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very good - would buy

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? - Kept my baby comfortable and dry
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Very good 10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - very happy
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes so much easier
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes i would definitely recommend.
toptomatoes · 25/09/2015 21:42
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied - they were soft, fitted well, looked more comfortable than other pull ups and didn't leak.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
No problems.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not for my daughter as we are at the potty training stage and she complained that these looked like baby nappies (she's 2.5). However, they'd be perfect for the toddler stage for quick changes.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, as I said, not necessarily the best for potty training as they are to babyish. However, they fill a gap for the toddler stage where the advantage is of quick changes.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Yes
JimbosJetSet · 25/09/2015 21:47

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Very well - as good as Pampers baby dry nappies.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Good - again comparable to baby dry nappies.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, if the price was right - easier to apply to toddler than a conventional nappy!
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think they have two main uses - for potty training, and for the wriggly toddler who won't lay still for a nappy change.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, certainly, if they were potty training or had a wriggly toddler!

WhosFred · 25/09/2015 22:14

Tested size 5 with my 18 month old DD.

  • overall very satisfied, seemed comfortable for DD and felt very soft. No leaks or problems apart from getting used to pull ups instead of tab fronts. Very impressed that they don't look bulky at all when on compared to others. Also just realised that there is no chemically type smell that some get which is great!
  • performance during day was great for comfort on DD either sitting down or running around. On for possibly close 12 hours during nighttime and no leaks or issues
  • 11 out of 10 for dryness. no leaks at all while still being light and comfortable for DD
  • Thank you for letting us try these, most impressed and will more than likely purchase these once we finish our stock of active fits
  • probably think for older child as wouldn't use these for younger children as feels more faff than tab front (down to clean them, then up to pull on, then down to finish getting dressed) would definitely use them if they had the tabby sides like pamper swim pants though I'm sure would reflect on cost.
  • definitely would recommend for dryness and fit already have Smile
kzedii · 25/09/2015 23:09

I tried these pants on my 12 month old daughter and tried size 5 pants

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Very satisfied as definitely kept her dry
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Performed very well as she did not complain when very wet as she does with usual nappies however when they were wet you could feel the pants being very squishy
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? 99/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? It would depend on price and if they were on special offer as seem quite expensive then usual brand.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? No, i think are good for potty training but otherwise found difficult as had to remove trousers socks shoes when changing and then put all back on and with a wriggly baby is time consuming.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Yes as fit very well and kept dry.
Anomite · 26/09/2015 08:04

I trialed size 5 on my 3.5 year old.

My three year old has been dry in the day for about a year. He is miles away from being dry at night.

  1. would definitely reccomend these. My son wee's a lot in the night. At least twice a week, probably more actually his nappy leaks. I have switched to many different types but find that this always happens. Since using these napped for now over two weeks we have not had one single leak.
Therefore very satisfied and would rate them 10/10

  2. in regard to using theses for potty training. This isn't really applicable to me. I never used a pull up type nappy during the day to aid potty training. I found that my boys were lazy, if wearing a nappy they would just go in it. I went cold turkey with both of mine and went straight to pants when I felt they were ready.
So no, the trial did not convince me these pants are also for potty training. Having said this- I have always switched to pull ups once my children became more active, because of the ease to put on. This was my reasoning for buying pull ups. Never to aid potty training, purely to make my life easier.

I would definitely reccomend these. Overall massively impressed!
Thanks for letting me take part. I will buy this product.

BollockyBollocks · 26/09/2015 09:22

My baby turned one while we were testing the product and she wore size 5.
Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I was quite satisfied with them. The only issue I had was the fit. They seemed very bulky at the front which meant her clothes looked odd but that was the only thing.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They seemed to absorb and hold a lot of wee during the day. I didn't use them at night and wouldn't do. I'd prefer to keep these for daytime use especially out and about. They did hold a soft poo (just about!) but the fit seemed quite large and I'd consider going down a size in these pants.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
They didn't leak even though they seemed a little large and kept baby's skin dry too.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would if they were on offer. When there are much cheaper alternatives I can't justify paying the extra for pampers when I'm not totally convinced I get anything extra or better.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely and I have used training pants in this way before. Once baby is up and about it's often much quicker and easier when out and about to use these instead of a nappy, making changes much faster.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I would say I had used them and had found them to be good but I wouldn't rec them over a cheaper alternative simply because of the price. In all other aspects, yes.
honeyharris · 26/09/2015 10:13

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

My son is 16 months old and we tried size 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied, they stayed in place well and kept him dry through the night. It was also handy being able to change him standing up when he has a wet nappy, as it's difficult to change him away from home - he will only settle for changing with the TV on. We didn't use the tape at the back but it didn't cause a problem it being there.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Equally well during both times of day - My son is very active both day and night, he is a wriggly sleeper but there were no leaks
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
They felt dry to the touch when taking them off and his skin seemed good in them, no redness
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would actually be more likely to use them now than for potty training - from what I've read it can be confusing for toddlers with them being so dry as they dn't know they've weed.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would. However I would anticipate that they will be more expensive than my usual brand (Mamia) though I haven't checked out the price of the Mamia pants
