This thread is for the Mumsnetters who have been trying Little Dish chilled toddler meals and their new range of My First Pizzas.

Here’s what Little Dish say, “When Hillary was expecting her first baby, she realised that you couldn’t buy healthy, home-cooked style meals for toddlers and young children in the shops. She set out to create a range of delicious, nutritious food made from 100% natural ingredients…and so Little Dish was born. Nearly 10 years on, we’re proud to feed around 100k little ones every week. Every Little Dish toddler meal is perfectly nutritionally balanced for a 1 to 3 year old –providing a source of protein and at least 1 portion of veg, low in salt, with no added sugar, additives or preservatives. Our new My First Pizzas are not only delicious (as approved by our Tiny Tasters) – they also provide 1 portion of veg each, contain 35% less salt than the average children’s chilled pizza and of course have no added sugar, additives or preservatives.”

Below are a few questions for you to answer about trying Little Dish meals and pizzas with your DCs – feel free to add any other thoughts you may have though, we’d love to hear them.

Little Dish meals
- What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?

I think they are a good "quick fix" for when you are short of time and want to try and get something vaguely healthy into DC's.

- Which was your child’s favourite meal?

The curry.

- Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them yes.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

I can't answer these questions as ours weren't in a good enough condition to eat

- What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?

I think savoury snacks for older kids is lacking. It seems that once they reach 3 or so they are expected to just have adult snacks and sometimes I am not happy with that at all.

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?

I like the packaging and felt they would be a good, healthy option when I need to grab something quick for my two year old.

  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?

He hasn't liked any so far unfortunately. He has turned them all away which is a real shame. I can't figure out why he doesn't like them but something is putting him off.

  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?

They are great to throw in the microwave and give to little ones when you are short on time but my child just won't touch them so I can't really recommend them. They aren't cheap and I'd not be happy if I had paid for them and ended up throwing them all away.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

We didn't receive any Pizza's.

  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?

More rice based dishes and maybe more foreign cuisine based meals.

Little Dish meals
What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
When they arrived they looked very appetising. They were nicely packaged, appealing to toddlers and parents and the portion sizes appeared about right for our 2 year old.

Which was your child’s favourite meal?
She loved the Spaghetti & Meatballs (ate the lot once I'd cut the meatballs in half for her and said they were very tasty), the Fish Pie and the Beef Lasagne.

Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend them as something convenient to keep in the fridge for those occasional days when you're in a rush or time has got away from you! The use by dates were good so they would keep for a while.

Little Dish My First Pizzas
What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
They looked good, a decent size, and the preview packaging looks appealing.

Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
She tried the 3 meatball pizza, took one bite and didn't want any more. Said it wasn't nice. She then refused to try the others, so I wouldn't say any were her favourite.

Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'd recommend that people give them a go, again they are a good item to keep at home just in case.

What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Yogurts or healthy treats for after dinner would be a good addition to the range.

Novia · 17/08/2015 15:11

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?

Good packaging and decent portion size for my 2 year old.

  • Which was your child?s favourite meal?

Chicken & butternut squash pie

  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - they tasted and smelt nice and were a good size.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?

Too thick and not much topping.

  • Which was your child?s favourite pizza?

Not really keen on any of them. Probably cheese and tomato if any.

  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not sure they seemed any better than a standard supermarket margarita or one you make yourself using a plain base.

  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?

Soups/stew would be good.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your feedback so far!

Here’s a message from Charlotte, the Marketing Director at Little Dish:

"Thanks everyone for all your feedback (good and less good!). It’s great to hear that our meals and pizzas have gone down so well with many of your little ones. I just wanted to comment on a couple of recurring themes in the feedback on the pizzas. These have been designed very much as a first pizza – for 1 to 3 year olds, but especially the younger end. Hence both the dinky size and also our big focus on low salt which is so important for this age group, and which means we can’t put loads of cheese on our pizzas (as cheese is high in salt). For children who are used to adult (or even other kids) pizzas on the market, which are typically high in salt and fat (and therefore delicious not great from a health perspective), Little Dish’s My First Pizzas could taste a bit bland. We’re hoping to get to little palates early, before they develop a taste for salt, and get them interested in yummy veggie tastes or interesting seasoning like pesto. Thanks for reading."

My overall impression of Little Dish meals is good. Before we tested them I bought them occasionally. It can be tricky as DD won't eat potato, and there isn't a full range of LD at our local Tesco. It's been great to try some of the ones we can't easily get.

Her favourite meal is the alphabet pasta bolognese, followed closely by the chicken curry with rice.

I would recommend these to anyone who needs a ready meal for the toddler. My main reasons are: British meat, ingredients you can recognise, and the contents of a meal are very close to something we'd cook at home.

The pizzas...
The first thing I liked is that the disc underneath is cardboard.
They were well-presented. I liked the grated cheese and felt it would be appealing to my child.
I felt they looked to be a good size, but I always serve veg on the side with these and with the ready meals.
Background: lunch has gone well if DD eats a third of her food. No matter how I present it she won't eat much lunch (she does eat more if it's hot lunch).
I gave her these for lunch. They puff up a little, looked and smelt good. They disappeared very quickly - almost unheard of here. She really liked them, her older sister (age 9) wanted one based on how they look. I had a little taste and would quite like one myself.
The base tastes slightly (pleasantly) sweet because of the carrot. I like that the tomato sauce has hidden veg because it ups the nutritional value without crowding more stuff onto the pizza.
The base does have a soft texture, I believe to make it easier for a toddler to chew. DD (age 2) definitely found this easier to eat than the 'normal' pizzas we share as a family.

DDs favourite pizza was the chicken pesto. She liked the others too (no leftovers).

I'd like to buy these (price permitting), would definitely serve them to friends children and would recommend them.

I'd be interested in puddings.

Wish I'd been asked about pics before. I nearly took some, but didn't, thinking it would be a bit pointless just for me to keep.

babyfoote · 17/08/2015 16:27

What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
Really positive - I like the packaging and the little craft activity, and also that each meal is at least one of the five a day, and low in salt.

  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
Surprisingly, the ravioli. My son doesn't usually like 'wet' food, but he gobbled up the ravioli and asked for more. Then he ate all the sauce. Fab. He has happily eaten all the other meals without issue or complaint, except for fish pie, but he has never enjoyed mashed potato.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, it's a really easy food. Brilliant for busy nights after I've been to work. Little Dish My First Pizzas
  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
They looked like 'normal' pizzas but smaller. They tasted good. My son enjoyed them. I love that they've got one of the five a day - sneaky or not.
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
Cheese and meatball.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Something I can chuck in the change bag and take out for quick healthy snacks.
MustBeThursday · 17/08/2015 18:05

My little one is 16 months old.

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
The packaging is nice, especially as it has the colouring/activity bit on the inside of the sleeve. Good portion size, and good to see portions of veg on the front. They smelled (and tasted!) nice. The pasta pieces in the turkey meatball meal could have been bigger, as my daughter may have been able to pick them up more easily. Otherwise textures generally quite good and thick/sticky enough for her to have a go with the spoon herself. Normally she’s not a bit fan of toddler ready meals – but she seemed keen on all but the shepherd’s pie – she seems to prefer things a bit chunkier.
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
Tied between the chicken and veg risotto and the cottage pie – both clean bowls.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, they look and smell nice, low salt and containing portions of veg. I would buy them occasionally, as they are quite expensive.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
I thought they looked nice, meat toppings looked good but not much cheese. Base seemed a bit thick for the size of pizza. Packaging would stand out, but I found the red text on the meatball packaging too dark - a bit harder to read than the others.
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
Pesto chicken and veg – the only one she ate any of.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Maybe, because of the portions of veg and lower salt content, but I probably wouldn't buy them.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Maybe a mild chili con carne?
SteadyHand · 17/08/2015 18:39

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
I liked the packaging, and the size of the portions was generous. The lack of salt was evident.
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
Shepherds pie- although I thought it looked a little oily...
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, for young toddlers. As an adult, I found them very bland, but I'm not the target audience!

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
I liked the range of toppings, and again, the portion size was ample for a young toddler
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
The one with meatballs.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
It would depend on the price. It was nice to have a pizza with the older children and for ds to have his own version.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Cold snack food, perhaps a Spanish omelette in individual finger sized portions.
NoraRobertsismyguiltypleasure · 17/08/2015 18:54

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals? I have previously tried a couple of meals when they were on offer which was why I was so keen to try an wider variety. My overall impression is relief that they don't have the uniform colour or look or a lot of ready meals. They also taste good, a little on the bland side for an adult palate, but you can actually identify the ingredients, unlike the other brands of kids ready food like jars which I would never try and never gave to my DD. Ones like the fish pie are still a little on the sloppy side, so that by the time you turn it onto a plate it looks a little unappetising (although my DD said tonight when she saw the fish pie 'Ooh that looks delicious, I want to eat it right now, now, now!'). My DD also has not finished an entire meal which is unusual for her and I think perhaps they are slightly richer than what I cook.
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal? The fish pie seems to be a hit as that was one she had before and really enjoyed.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I would recommend these because they are wholesome and tasty and they take away some of the guilt of not slaving over the stove for your child.

My dd has only tried one pizza so far and didn't like it, so I'll review the pizzas as soon as she has tried the others.

FlamingPie · 17/08/2015 19:44

Thank you for the opportunity to try these meals and pizzas - my son was very pleased and I liked having some easy choices on stand by!

- What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
They looked very good quality with plenty of meat and vegetables. The sizes were perfect for my toddler son

- Which was your child?s favourite meal?
Spaghetti and meatballs - he polished it off very quickly!

- Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - subject to the cost

Little Dish My First Pizzas
- What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
They looked great, the sample packaging in particular was very eye catching. However the pizzas were all deep pizzas and my son wasnt as keen as the thin pizzas he has tried before.

- Which was your child?s favourite pizza?
The cheese and tomato pizza

- Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, but my son prefers thinner pizzas - would be bette to have a choice of bases

- What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Desserts or prepared fruit packs would be nice. Meals that arent easily made at home (eg tagines, curries)

Mammabear31 · 17/08/2015 20:02

Well, DS has well and truly demolished every single meal he's been sent for this product test. It's been handy to have something in the fridge for him on nights we are in a rush or when we want something for dinner we know he won't eat.

Also loved the extra touch of cool bag and spoon, DS uses his every dinner time.

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
Honestly? The packaging is a little cartoon-ish for me. But hey ho, he doesn't eat that! They look like they should be alot less nutritious than they actually are; but once put on a plate/bowl the amount of veg/meat/fish in them become obvious.
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
He loved the fish pie, and the curry. They were eaten very quickly and DS even asked for "more" which was a first!
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Most definately. They are great, nutritious dinners handy to have in.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
They looked a little sad....not alot of cheese, and the toppings were sparse.
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
The meatball pizza went down very well. We thought the meatballs would get picked off but no - they got wolfed down with the rest!
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
I probably would, if the toppings/cheese were a bit more generous.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
DS would love a milder version of a chilli con carne, or perhaps a macaroni cheese with other veg in it (although the ravioli was yummy apparently!).

Loved this product test - thanks MN! :)

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
I thought they looked great and love that they are low salt.
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
The fish pie seemed to be the favourite.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, as I think the portion sizes are right and they are getting some of their 5 a day from each meal and my other 2 children like these meals aswell.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
I liked the fact that they were a lot lower in salt than other pizza. I did think that they were slightly small however they probably are the correct portion size for a child.
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
My girl wasn't keen on the pizzas but seemed to like the mini meatballs from the pizza.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'm unsure as my girl didn't eat any of the pizza other than the meatball topping but equally she seems to be going through a fussy phase at the moment.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Mac and cheese with veg, Sausage and/or chicken casserole.
noodleysoup · 17/08/2015 21:19

Thanks Little Dish, my 2.5 yr old enjoyed trying these meals. Taking part in a trial by answering questions about her dinner helped make meal times more successful too, I may have to include a consumer survey with every meal time in future!
What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
Good, they are nice to have in the freezer as a fall back when meal time is running late/fridge is bare! My children liked the packaging and tended to pick their meal based on the cartoon on the front of the box - aeroplane pie, crocodile pie, giraffe pie et. Portion sizes were good too.
Which was your child’s favourite meal? Alphabet pasta bolognese
Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, they are quick to prepare healthy meals that go down well. Cook quickly from frozen too which is a bonus. A good alternative to my usual quick fallback meal of beans on toast!

What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas? Good. My DD felt like she was getting a special pizza all to herself. Toppings are pretty safe/bland but were a success. Base was nice and soft so didnt end up with any hard crusts left on the plate.
Which was your child’s favourite pizza? They all seemed to go down equally well.
Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes. I probably wouldn't buy them myself that often, as I'd tend to buy or make a nice big pizza for everyone to share. But they looked good and are a healthier choice, so if the price was reasonable I would be happy to recommend to others based on my experience with them.
What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make? Little sausages, noodle dish

Little dish meals

-What was your overall impressions of little dish meals?
I was impressed with the meals, the packaging was attractive and I liked the cut out and colour activities on the packaging. They were a nice size for toddlers.

-Which was your child's favourite meal?
Unfortunately my 2 year old dd refused to eat any of the meals and I have no idea why as she likes the meals if I cook them myself. I was so excited to try these and was shocked that she refused these meals. I'm guessing that her refusal to try them was more her being a stubborn set in her way two and a half year old.

-Would you recommend little dish meals to friends or relatives?
I would, I like the idea of toddler meals being kept in the chiller rather than the baby aisle and I liked the varied ingredients and how they have low salt content.

Little dish pizzas

-What was your overall impression of little dish my first pizza?
Like the meals I was impressed at the size of these, a perfect size for my dd. Also the amount of veg in some of the pizzas was very impressive

-Which was your child's favourite pizza?
The pizzas went down a lot better than the meals, with the meatball pizza definitely being the favourite out of the three we tried.

-Would you recommend little dish pizzas to friends or relatives?
Would be interested to know the price point of these pizzas but would recommend these pizzas to friends and relatives, a nice quick and easy meal to feed an impatient toddler and no worries about high salt content like other pizzas.

mummabeartolittleted · 18/08/2015 13:15

Thanks for the opportunity to try Little Dish meals and pizza. We still have two of the meals left, but thought I'd better respond before the closing date.

What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals? Liked the packaging, the meals looked a good size for my 3 year old. Great that they counted as 2 of his 5 a day, particularly as I added a couple of extra portions of veg onto his plate meaning (if he had eaten them) he would have 4 of his 5 a day on one plate. Loved the fact they could be frozen and could be cooked from frozen too.

Which was your child's favourite meal? Fish pie. It's the only one he liked! I tried the ones he didn't like (shepherds pie and cheese ravioli with veg sauce) and found them both to have a very sweet flavour and quite bland.

Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends and relatives? If so, why? If not, why? Yes, I probably would, despite my little one not liking them, as that may be him being a little fussy at the moment. I would recommend due to ease of preparation and the nutritional value. I wouldn't go shouting about them from the rooftops though.

What was your overall impression of Little Dish My first pizza? Liked the look of the cardboard packaging that they will come in. Pizzas were a good size for my 3 year old. Bit dissappointed that they only contained 1 of the 5 a day and they had a much shorter shelf life than the ready meals, but again they can be frozen and cooked from frozen which is a great. Cooking instructions from manufacturer attached to the pizza were different to those printed on the sample packaging, which I found odd.

What was your child's favourite pizza? He was really excited, as was I, about trying the pizza. He LOVES pizza usually and would have it for breakfast lunch and dinner if he could. I gave him the chicken pesto one first, he had two bites but didn't like it. Same happened with the cheese and tomato and the meatball pizzas. I tasted all of the pizzas. Again I found them quite sweet and bland.

Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to relatives and friends? If so, why?
If not, why? Probably not. I'm not sure what price these will be retailed at but looking at the packaging it will be high end. My little one likes the supermarket own mini pizza which he will have half off with a big salad for a meal so nutritionally wise I do not see much added benefit from Little Dish pizzas.

What other healthy, natural food would you like to see Little Dish make? Love the idea of your fish fingers will be trying those for sure. Would like to healthy snacks that I could put in my handbag for when out. Also puddings with one of your 5 a day added.

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
I absolutely loved them. I’ve been so disappointed with the choice of children’s ready meals up until now that I am delighted to find these meals are both nutritious, and loved by my 3 yr old son. The fact they are fresh is a massive point for me, I hate to think what preservatives are added t those on the ordinary shelves. I love the packaging and think they are very distinctive, and I am also a fan of the low salt and sugar content. A definite win for our household. I find it hard to make quick nutritious meals for him sometimes and this is just the ticket. Thank you.
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
He loved them all but I think the was his overall favourite was the spaghetti and meatballs.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely, there was a definite gap in the market and I think this fills it well. Once family and friends hear about and try them I think they’ll love them too.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
My first thoughts are that they are the perfect size for my little one, on cooking a normal pizza for him a lot is wasted (and I can’t eat them myself) so this is perfect. I love that unlike the other small pizzas you can get, these weren’t chewy when cooked and were thick enough to give a good taste, I thought they had plenty of topping too. I was pleased to see they had hidden carrots in the tomato sauce as well.
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
He loved the cheese and tomato one best.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely, a healthier pizza for the little ones is a great idea and Little Dish have done it well.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
I would like to see healthier fish fingers and fishcakes, non-orange and much less salt. Also, I’d definitely be interested in healthier puddings and ice-lollies.
pangaea90 · 18/08/2015 16:33

Thanks for including us, we really enjoyed trying the meals out.

Little Dish meals

  • Overall impression - very good. The packaging is nice and bright, and the meals are a good size. I also liked the relatively high veg and low salt contents.
  • Child's favourite meal - liked all of them, but the fish pie definitely went down fast.
  • Recommendation - yes I would. I wouldn't use them every day, but they're great to have on standby and far preferable to standard (salty!) ready meal type foods.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • Overall impression - again, liked the packaging and the high veg content. A bit on the small side maybe, but I have a human dustbin.
  • Child's favourite - the chicken and pesto one (not what I was expecting, so that was interesting!)
  • Recommendation - I think it would depend on the price. For us they'd work more as a decent-sized snack than for a full meal. In terms of someone just wanting 'a pizza' for their child, then I would because the hidden veg makes them more appealing than a standard ready-made pizza.

What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?

Maybe some kids' yoghurts that aren't full of sugar?!

NoraRobertsismyguiltypleasure · 18/08/2015 19:11

We have now tried another pizza and I fear my DD has already been corrupted by overly salty food as she simply will not eat these pizzas. She starts off and obviously wants to like them because it's pizza! Then after two or three small pieces she just says enough, if I give her something to dip them in like a bit of salad dressing then she eats a bit more, but she basically isn't enjoying them. I don't think it's the fault of the product because I have tried them, too and I can appreciate the taste is good, but they do seem quite unsalty compared to regular pizza.
I would recommend these and would have bought these when my DD was still less than 18 months and I was much more strict about salt and sugar.

Plonkysaurus · 18/08/2015 19:18

*Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?*
Very good, both nutritionally and in terms of portion size. So convenient to have ready meals that aren't full of unrecognisable ingredients.

- Which was your child’s favourite meal?
Shepherd's pie.

- Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. I think they'd be very useful to have frozen on standby.

*Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?*
Burnt easily so had to keep an eye on them more than I'd like. Ds liked them more than ordinary pizza, perhaps due to the doughy base or having a whole pizza all to himself. He wasn't keen on the meatball one he's a bit weird that way.

- Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
Chicken pesto

- Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not. Unlike the ready meals I didn't feel like I was giving him a proper dinner if the main bit was a pizza. We added a bit more cheese to fill him up.

- What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
If you could make non-sugary custard I'd buy all your meals forever!

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
Perfect portion sizes for my toddler twins and lovely packaging. The food was clearly a lot healthier that regular ready meals and the nutritional values were well thought out.
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
They actually ate all of them as they're not the fussiest! The ravioli went down really well but thought the pasta shapes could have done with being slightly smaller. They also loved the meatballs!
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would as a back up in the freezer or for a quick easy meal. Nice to know they have real veg in there and you're not feeding them absolute rubbish when you're in a rush!

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
Decent size for toddlers, very doughy and soft with a decent amount of topping. Seemed a little bland for my taste but clearly less salty than pizza I'm used to!
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
Chicken and pesto went down well. They're not the biggest fans of pizza so I was quite surprised they even tried them!
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, purely for the fact that they're healthier than regular pizza and better portion sizes for toddlers.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Maybe some healthy side dishes and snacks.

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?

I liked the packaging and the portion sizes were ideal for my 21 month old.

  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
The fish pie and pasta bake.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend them, providing the price was right.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
The size was good but topping looked sparse.
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
She liked the toppings from the chicken and meatball pizzas, but wouldn't eat them as part of a pizza. She ate the cheese and tomato pizza in its entirety!
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would if they weren't too expensive.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?

I'm always on the lookout for healthy, convenient picnic type foods to grab on the run whilst feeling I'm giving her balanced choices.

  • great packaging, good portion size and good variety of dishes.
  • favourite was the cottage pie. I tasted all and found most to be very flavoursome although the chicken risotto was rather dry.
  • yes would recommend and purchase myself in future if required for convenience although would only purchase vegetarian/vegan options as no indication of where ingredients are sourced - free range/ welfare standards (a issue I have with all convenience food)
  • nice size pizzas, toppings were possibly a bit sparse
  • ate more of the cheese and tomato, found the pizzas a bit too doughy to be honest. A thinner base would be more favoured in this household
  • would recommend within reason depending on cost for anyone looking for something like this but again from our point of view I wouldn't buy due to not knowing origin of dairy/meat ingredients
  • would love to have some guilt free healthy packaged snacks to be able to take out and about that aren't fruit based which everything seems to be. Transparency regarding origin of ingredients.

Meals
My fussy 2yr old ate them all though I found them rather bland. He has bland tastes though-the one he liked the least was turkey meatball pasta which I thought was the nicest. Overall impression good, though not as good as the Annabel Karmel ones which IMO are tastier, more appetising looking and slightly bigger. Size was fine for my kid but I know most other kids his age would want more for their main meal. His favourite was fish pie.

Pizzas
I thought they were ok but toddler refused them all- I think because too "doughy"-he only likes bread type things when crispy. Tasted fine to me though.

I would recommend to friends and buy again myself other than the fact that they are not currently stocked in my regular supermarket which is a large Sainsbury's.

Little Dish meals

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish meals?
Excellent. My fussy two year old DS loved them all. Good portion size and few ingredients. He likes them a lot more than my cooking!
  • Which was your child’s favourite meal?
All the pasta ones, the curry and the fish pie (surprisingly).
  • Would you recommend Little Dish meals to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. They actually taste quite nice, seem nutritious and are easy to prepare.

Little Dish My First Pizzas

  • What was your overall impression of Little Dish My First Pizzas?
Nice looking packaging, a trusted brand. DS ate about a quarter to a third of them; he prefers sloppier food with sauces. I thought the pizzas tasted quite nice.
  • Which was your child’s favourite pizza?
Cheese and tomato.
  • Would you recommend Little Dish pizzas to friends or relatives? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. Other pizzas are probably too salty for little ones so I'd serve this if the family was having pizza.
  • What other healthy, natural food would you like Little Dish to make?
Ice cream. Pasta dishes.
