We've been asked by the team at Babylon Health to find Mumsnetters to download and review the Babylon Health app.

For this product test we are looking for Mumsnetters in the UK and Ireland, with a smartphone or tablet which is an Android or Apple device as the app is available on the iTunes App Store for iPhone and iPad or Google Play for Android devices.

Babylon Health say "We aim to make getting medical advice as quick and easy as possible - combining great mobile app technology with the best doctors to bring affordable healthcare to everyone, everywhere. It lets you see NHS approved doctors, face to face from your home or office, and get prescriptions sent to you or a pharmacy of your choice. You can text message doctors for speedy answers to the simple things, and get access to a range of other great features. We believe this is a fantastic service for parents as it’s all about accessing healthcare on your terms. With doctors and advice available at your fingertips, there is nothing stopping you getting expert advice for even the smallest health questions."

Selected testers would need to download the app and enter a code to receive a free one-month subscription (testers would not need to enter any payment details and subscriptions are usually £4.99 per month). Testers would then need to use the app for two weeks, and then post your feedback on a thread on Mumsnet. At the end of the free trial, your subscription would end unless you choose to subscribe directly with Babylon.

During the two week period, you can use the service to talk through specific issues with a doctor, raise any health questions you can think of, get some advice, or just chat through the service. You could also check on your DP's or your DC's health issues

We'll also be asking you to add a review on the MN app review pages.

All MNers who take part and who add feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Love2Shop voucher.

If you would like to take part please add your details here.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Hi, I have signed up today. However, it did not ask me for a promo code whilst doing so? I am a bit worried now that it has charged me £4,99? The app did not have a price on it when I searched it in the app store using my I-Phone and at no point did it tell me there was a charge?

In other news, I asked a question and added a pic (I have a rash on my arm), and it was answered within 10 minutes... I quite like having medical advice at my fingertips :)

When I tried to enter the promo code it told me it was too short! I have emailed mums net (Angelie Stephens) but no help or advice has been offered. Disappointed as I was looking forward to trying this app out, it looks exciting. Poop!!??????

I got the app via the I tunes App Store and it asked for my name etc and then a promo code which I entered and I was in. I had no problems, already asked a question and got a swift reply Smile

The code worked fine for me too.

It says our membership is 'unlimited' for a month and we are requested to book a consultation during that time. I was just investigating options for this and it gives the option of booking a consultation with a specialist (gynaecology etc). Can we do this for our consultation? (Or will we get charged?)

I spoke with the loveliest GP last night, she was really helpful.

Not sure I have any other issues to ask them about to test it more though!

Stripysecrets · 03/06/2015 22:26

How long was your phonecall? Can you give a brief summary (not of what you discussed but how it all went down?) did she know the issue, did you have to explain, did you have pictures etc?

Oh dear. I have signed up and am registered, but I don't really have anything to talk to the doctor about. Apart from how they do it (I am a GP myself so intrigued by how it all works!)
I won't make up an illness...but I don't want to book an appointment for the sake of it just to test their app!

(have to say I love the "one question, one answer" bit on the app. I might have to start using that at work. "Can I just ask, Doctor?" "Nope. And that's your question...NEXT!" I might get more people seen that way. And therefore more appointments and therefore everyone happy. Apart from the one question thing...) Grin

The call was around 8-10 minutes long.

I gave background and summary of the issue and she asked more questions to get more info. We chatted backwards and forwards and she then gave advice at the end.

I got a very comprehensive email detailing the consultation by email a short while later.

Oh that's fab!

I used the ask a question app but it wasn't very helpful :( just had the stock response you would see on google. "It could be many things, go and visit your gp". Hmm

I've just booked my first consultation. I think it's charged me Confused. Will check with bank tomorrow. Not pleased if it has!

How does it charge you? I haven't entered any of my bank details (just used the promo code)

NerrSnerr · 04/06/2015 19:21

Moody, did you put your bank details in or the code?

I asked a question and it was really helpful. Just trying to think if I have anything worthy of a consultation.

Moodykat · 04/06/2015 19:39

When I booked the consultation I had to put card details in as well as the code. On plus side, consultation was great!

I used the ask a question feature this week and found it really informative and easy. it didnt take too long to be answered just a couple of hours perfect for the non urgent question i didnt want to bother the doctor with. The replies obviously are limited due to characters but it answered everything i asked about the changes i wanted to make to my diet after a recent diagnosis. great app so far really handy

What sorts of questions are you asking? I have used 'ask' twice (with pictures) and both times they haven't offered advice and just told
Me to book a consultation with one of the gps! Confused

I am really quite impressed! I have only asked questions so far but the responses have been quick and helpful.

I've been flat out all week, but am planning to book a consultation tomorrow, so will let you know how it goes. Smile

I used the ask a question feature and I was quite impressed. The responses have been both very quick and helpful. I wanted some advice and didn't think it was something I could justify an appointment for.

Frustratingly all is well in the BunnyFint household at the moment so I haven't needed to book a consultation...yet!

I've asked two questions on the app and received clear and helpful responses! I've just booked a consultation to discuss my 3 year old's hypermobility. I thought I'd throw them a challenge to see if they can give useful information about something that might be hard to see over video. Will report back with screenshots later.
