AngelieMumsnet · 29/09/2014 14:53

This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out the Weight Watchers programme.

Weight Watchers say: “With 50 years of success behind us we understand how to make losing weight simple, delicious and fun; but we also understand how challenging it can be when you’re facing it alone. Join us to lose weight, feel fantastic and achieve great things. You can follow our healthy eating plan completely online with support from our unique community, or benefit from attending our lively meetings, for personal coaching and weight loss guidance.”

Testers: we'll be asking you to add feedback once a week - we'd like your first impressions now and every week after that, we'll be posting some new questions for you to answer.

So, in terms of your first impressions...

~ Will you be going to meetings, following the plan online or a bit of both?
~ Why did you sign up to test out the Weight Watchers plan?
~ What sorts of foods do you think you'll be eating following the plan? Will it be a big change for you?

Everyone who adds their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £100 Asda voucher, good luck!

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Weight Watchers on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Ww charge very early. About two weeks before monthly pass ends so if I wanted to cancel I'm not sure when to notify them

Sorry to hear testers have been charged. Odd

hippoherostandinghere · 10/10/2014 10:41

Maybe that's why I've been charged now is into week 3. Hope they get this sorted soon.

Teladi · 10/10/2014 11:28

I'm sorry to hear that the charging issue hasn't been resolved yet. I haven't been charged yet but I think this is week 2 of my pay period. If I do get charged I won't be pleased and will strongly consider dropping out of the testing to avoid future charges. If I were to pay to do WW I wouldn't be paying for Monthly Pass as I don't need meeting access.

hippoherostandinghere · 10/10/2014 11:43

I feel the same teladi, I haven't even been to a meeting and have been charged £21.50. I know it's not the end of the world but weightwatchers need to sort this out, very poor form from them.

dobedobedo · 10/10/2014 12:22

Mumsnet said the other day they were looking into this. Any further updates? I don't know whether to cancel or not.

AngelieMumsnet · 10/10/2014 12:33

Hi hippoherostandinghere - really sorry that you've been charged too. I've let Weight Watchers know, and you should receive a refund.

If anyone has any further questions/issues, can you please PM me?

Thank you Angelie

Ledkr · 10/10/2014 13:01

Well I'm the lowest weight I've been for years so at least it's working!

hippoherostandinghere · 10/10/2014 13:29

Well done Ledkr that's brilliant. I'm a yo-yoer so I've been here before. But this time I'm determined to commit fully for 12 weeks and hopefully get down to a weight I haven't been for some time. I think what's good about the plan is its sustainable. I don't feel deprived so am determined to keep going.

Ledkr · 10/10/2014 13:42

Me too. This is the best I've done for years. I don't feel deprived cos I can just eat a less point lunch or breakfast if I need more points for later.
The difference I how I feel and look is remarkable so I'm also going to stay with it.

hippoherostandinghere · 10/10/2014 13:58

By the time I finish my 12 weeks it'll be a week to Christmas. I can't wait to see what a difference I can make by then.

Is everyone eating their full 49 point weekly allowance? I'm taking a bit extra each day but am afraid to use it all in case I don't lose wait. But then I've heard people saying to use it all because you won't lose if you don't eat enough.

Eva50 · 10/10/2014 14:13

I ate it all at once last week as it was ds1's birthday and we had Dominos, wine and birthday cake Blush. I lost 3lbs so it must have been ok! This week I will split it over the week and see how it goes.

mommathatwearspink · 10/10/2014 14:57

I lost 1lb in my first week Smile it's not as much as I wanted but a loss is a loss. On the down side I have also been charged for my monthly pass. I've e-mailed Angelie who's sorting it out for us.

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 10/10/2014 16:52

On my second week I only are 9 of my 49 weeklies and lost only half a pound. So my meeting leader asked me to eat more esp when exercising which I did. last week I had 19 of them left. At the next weigh in I'd lost 3.5lbs so eat your weeklies Smile

BellaVida · 10/10/2014 17:41

Weighed in and I lost 2lb in my 2nd week, so 6lb so far! Very pleased so far.

  • How did you spend your weekly allowance of 49 ProPoints values last week?
Wine and weightwatchers savoury snack indulgence over the weekend, but didn't use all of my ProPoints.
  • Have you started any exercise or new activity?
Nothing specific like classes or anything, just cycling at the weekend with the kids and.
  • What do enjoy about your meetings?
Nice to have tea and a chat with people. Inspiring to see other people's successes.
  • What Weight Watchers tools have you found most useful online?
Not used so far.
  • Have you been using the Weight Watchers App? If so, do you like it?
Not used it.
  • Have you discovered any new foods / tried any new recipes?
Discovered the delights of plain cottage cheese and not eating processed foods. My skin looks better already!
dobedobedo · 10/10/2014 17:46

Hippo I didn't use my weeklies last week and still lost. Used them the first week and also lost.
I get a lot of points to eat a day though. Probably because I have lots to lose (6 stone to ideal weight, about 4 stone to healthy bmi range) and I'm exclusively breastfeeding. I do feel like I'm eating too much, yet the scales say otherwise. Very weird!

Does anyone else have a lot of weight to lose?

This trial runs out just before Christmas, I'd like to lose two stone by then. Here's hoping!

Ledkr · 10/10/2014 17:57

I use mine by just going slightly over on some days, don't actually plan a 49 point blow out, although it's easy for me cos there's so much I can't eat. Going out with dh tonight I'm going to wear my slinky jeans ive it worn for ages!

hippoherostandinghere · 10/10/2014 18:05

Everyone is doing so well. So it seems eating your weeklies doesn't restrict your loss. I'm just afraid of eating too much!

Teladi · 10/10/2014 19:06

I've been eating some of my weeklies. I keep forgetting about them actually and think of the extra food as being my exercise points. I don't think I could eat my weeklies and my exercise points without starting to eat stupid stuff and I'm trying to get away from that.

I'm going out for an Italian meal midweek next week with work so I'll definitely be using some of my weekly points for that!

Eva50 · 10/10/2014 19:14

dobe I would like to lose 5 stone. 2 stone by Christmas would be great!

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 11/10/2014 15:20

Well done on everyone's losses Smile

dobe I have a lot of weight to lose too...at least 6 stone...eeek!

Has anyone else noticed that pro-points value suddenly jump up as you increase servings (rather annoyingly) E.g. 1 slice of wholemeal bread = 1 point but 2 slices = 3 points! Same with Special K biscuits too, but I would have just though it was 2 points...where is that extra point coming from?? Grin.

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 11/10/2014 15:35
  • How did you spend your weekly allowance of 49 ProPoints values last week?
I am using them to have a bar of chocolate in the evening as I like having a treat to look forward to each night.
  • Have you started any exercise or new activity?
No
  • What do enjoy about your meetings?
I haven't been able to get to a meeting yet as they are all before my partner gets home from work but I am hoping to go to one next week.
  • What Weight Watchers tools have you found most useful online?
I think there is probably a lot more on there that I have had chance to look at as I haven't had time to sit down and properly look at it. The thing I have used most is the point calculator.
  • Have you been using the Weight Watchers App? If so, do you like it? Yes I use the WW app to log all my foods and check my points. At first I wasn't keen on it and I couldn't even find the points value for a tin of WW soup! I am used to using MFP and have never found a food which isn't in the database whoever there have been quite a few which aren't in the WW database. I have definitely got used to using it now and think it is easy to use. Its great that you can use the point calculator to work out the points if it isn't in the database.
  • Have you discovered any new foods / tried any new recipes?
I'm not a very confident cook but I've been looking at the recipes and hope to try some next week. At the moment I have just made the 3 veg soup and its delicious!
iwantgin · 11/10/2014 16:57

I have noticed that I have been charged for this first month too. I have emailed you Angelie.

ihatethecold · 11/10/2014 18:56

Does anyone know how I add something I've cooked from the WW magazine
I made the mixed grains with squash, feta and spinach.
Can I bloody we'll find anything resembling it!

It is really tasty though.

Teladi · 11/10/2014 19:13

Just quick add it as you'll know how many points it is from the magazine.
